So will etheric light drop in the level 28 prison of elders? Or is this gonna be a cat chasing his tail where I need etheric light to level up but I can only get it in an area beyond my current level?

EDIT: I should have looked harder. The Destiny Wiki says etheric light only has a chance of dropping in Prison of Elders on level 34 and up.

Almost the same goes for the Trials of Osiris since there is not matchmaking and you need those coins. I suck at regular PvP so losing 3 matches in a row and getting kicked out is a definite, haha.

Did I read right that there will be a Reef equivalent of Xur who sells exotic stuff on weekends somewhere?

Yea...the 2-3 times on the chest worked until we quit (about 12 midnight Central).....I ended up with three keys, one for each character and a handful of Legendary. it was different and fun...except when a Special Event happening right next to it or when The War was going on in Skywatch and the chest spawned in the middle of it.

I am terrible at pvp as well. If you need some one to play with, I'de be down. I have no expectations to win, I just want a chance at post game drops. From what I understand Xur could be at either the Reef or Tower. I don't think there will be a special vendor just at the Reef

sounds good to me, I just want some drops too. I didn't realize the Trials are only available on the weekends so maybe we can put a terrible team together towards the end of the week.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

So after running those pub events for an afternoon, I had a little bit of an epiphany. I have fun in this game, but only when I play the Warlock. There's just something about her jump that encourages a lot of shooting and grenade tossing while airborne, and that's good stuff. I'm giving serious thought to deleting my Hunter and making another one, maybe as a dedicated Voidwalker. I'll double check, but I'm pretty sure I have the gear to fully equip two Warlocks, provided they are different subclasses. I also like the idea of a Warlock that emphasizes the Voidwalker subclass, because I have fun playing Voidwalker but default to Sunsinger 99% of the time.

The Hunter had its day in Crota's End (darkness, bridge, speed run, and sword), but they really had to stack the deck from the normal game to make that the case. In the rest of the game, the Hunter is just a really squishy class with a shitty jump and two more or less useless supers. Hell, I don't particularly enjoy the Titan either, but at least he has good armor and a decent jump.

It's sort of like in Borderlands where once I'd played the Sirens, I never wanted to play the other classes, and it's amazing that that I enjoy about 10 of the 23 classes in Warframe.

I'm not fully read up on how all of the new stuff works, but it really sounds like they've addressed some of my core issues with the game, particularly leaving older guns behind with every DLC and having only one set of viable armor. They are right on the verge of fixing this shit.

Chess...... Destiny....... Fun ?????? :jawdrop: Where is Chess and what have you done with him?

I kid, I kid. ;)

Warlock is my fav class by far. Nova Bomb FTW. I have two but mainly because I wanted to play the game more efficiently in the beginning. I may at some point delete one to roll a Hunter to get the Trophy and play one in Crucible where they really shine. Suprisingly, I've been holding my own in Crucible and enjoy it most of the time (except for Salvage -- that sucked though we did get better by the end). I'm not great but I'm not usually the worst either.

I was really enjoying the game and especially the VoG right up until Dark Below, where from my perspective they simultaneously shat on our VoG gear, made the VoG irrelevant, failed to fix the most annoying glitches (heavy ammo?), failed to fix the inventory management, made us relevel our gear, and doubled down on the problems with the game's poor progression system with the introduction of new shards/energy.

But since then, they fixed the heavy ammo glitch, added weapon switching via app, allowed for the upgrade of existing armor (variety is important) without fully releveling it, and made our VoG gear relevant again.

In short, they've addressed my biggest complaints, which despite the shit I get for voicing them are obvious and legitimate problems with the game. And for the record, I never said the core gameplay wasn't fun (other than having issues with spammy bullet sponge bosses).

I still can't picture myself giving them more money unless there's a good sale, but if they keep improving things, we'll see.

I do agree that the Warlock is the Master Race, I like running voidwalker but will run sunbro most of the time because of revive.

I like running Titan when I have Saint 14 equipped and I'm pretty bad when I use the Hunter. I do think the Hunter is the coolest looking out of the three classes.

For me the Titan and the 'Lock are neck and neck and even though the Hunter is too squishy, a good hunter has saved some asses in Weeklies and Nightfall strikes by turning invisible and reviving the other 2 dummies who got themselves killed in a crowd.

Glad to hear you are enjoying yourself Chess

Yeah, that settles it. I have to think about the best time to do it, but I'm gonna wipe my Hunter soon and make a dedicated Voidwalker. Should have done it a long time ago. I just need to pick a window where I have time to power through the story missions and get her to 20 quickly, and probably the quicker the better so I can start doubling up my chances at new Warlock gear. Hell, I might just start tonight as it will help me avoid the urge to do the new shit with all three existing characters.

I may sit on 5-6 Hunter armor items in my vault, just in case, but that class is mostly dead to me. :rip:

Yeah, it's still my most disappointing game in recent memory, but it's only disappointing because you can see the potential of what it could have been...and maybe could still be.

Edit: Forgot to mention that Dead Orbit finally gave me a shader. I got Revenant on 2 characters yesterday after coming up empty so many times.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

It took me forever (or so it seemed) to create a 2nd (and then 3rd) character after my Warlock who I also rolled during the Alpha and Beta

Hunter was my second and I hated it from the get go and made me regret not doing a Titan second

however I have come around to the Hunter and enjoy using him in Crucible with the Blink jump

I like the variety of having 1 of each character but yes Warlock is still the master race and playing Voidwalker is much more fun than Sunsinger though I need to play more with HOTPF

I haven't been keeping up with everything going on, but have seen several others mention keys and chests. Where are these and what are they used for? Is it something related to HOW?

Yes, all related to HoW.

Chests = up till today, not sure how it works now that HoW is out, the Queen's associate in the Tower offered exterminate the target bounties; 6 total, 1 each day. After you killed the target, you would receive a timed "key" buff that opens a chest randomly placed in the current zone. Possible loot items from this chest are planetary mats, blue and purple engrams, and a Prison of Elders key, which opens a chest in PoE (the new PvE HoW content). You also get a reward for doing all 6 bounties that you turn in at the Reef, don't know what the reward is yet.

Passage Coins = you earn by playing the featured Crucible daily match. Doesn't matter if you win or lose, just have to complete it. You can buy some sort of consumable items to use in ToO, the HoW Crucible content.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Dropped into the new Reef social space and decrypted about 40 blue engrams. Got a strange coin and a ton of low level blue gear.

I am not even sure what the reward was for completing the 6 bounties as a bunch of stuff showed up at once. I think i saw a strange coin and some materials.

At some point between the post master, leveling the cryptarch, etc I got a legendary fusion rifle "give/take equation" that does void damage. I have very few legendary things so that was cool.

On a happier note, I have my Vanguard rank to level 3, commendations are gone and the base light level at the vanguard shop is 36 (up from 24). So between buying an exotic from Xur this weekend and buying whatever armor Xur didn't have from the vanguard I should be able to jump a few levels. I will have two pieces of armor go from 15 light to 36 light each :)

Re: Bungie - Destiny

I decrypted close to 90 Blue engrams between three characters and only one turned into a Legendary. Everything else all blue, about 8-9 coins and some Motes of Light. I did also look at the stuff offered by the Leaders down in the hall (those ones hanging together around the table) and there is new stuff in there. Everything also has new icons off to the left when you pull up all your gear; armor and weapons. The loadouts are different from what we've seen when you level up stuff...not sure what it all means. just know I didn't get much of anything turning everything in.

At least I feel better about my 40 then.

The Hunter is dead! Long live the second Warlock!

He's now level 15, and I'll have him to 32 tomorrow...just need a new set of bounties and to plug through Mars.

LOL, I'm trying to find enough time for all the new content and on the day the expansion is released you are starting the content from the beginning :D

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Maybe this has been answered already but, I noticed the "ascend" upgrade is available for every piece of old gear that I have. It says it raises the level to "highest available in year 1". What exactly does that mean?

For instance, I still have the queens robes and helmet from her first appearance way back in October. What will that upgrade to? I believe it's only 27 at the moment. Will it go to 42 if I upgrade it?

Me007gold 05-20-15 06:21 AM

Re: Bungie - Destiny

It means exactly what it says. That will take your gear too max light level for year one of the game sept-sept. Thats when the next expansion to the game should come out.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Prior to this expansion, only the raid gear and the exotics could reach the true maximum light level. So basically every single piece of gear you acquire can be light level 42 now, as long as you have the etheric light to upgrade it?

I guess that's good and bad. Good that the old stuff is relevant again. Bad that a lot of the exotic stuff isn't so exotic anymore since many of the perks are crap. So you can technically reach the highest possible light level with all legendary gear and not a single exotic equipped? (I realize you could do that before with a full raid gear set, but it seems now all you really need is etheric light and you can max out with any combination of easily obtainable gear). Interesting.

I am only going off a small sample set in my inventory but it seems like the early weapons and armor needed a lot of upgrades to increase light and damage. Newer weapons start at max damage and light and there are only a few perk options.

Then, if you get an etheric light, you will automatically jump the gear to the new max damage and max light without any steps in-between.

As someone who has been struggling to reach light level 30, I am fine with this. And it will also add variety as I know many level 32s were all after the same 2 or 3 weapons which had been considered the best.

Yes, that is how it seems to work now (at least for weapons, I don't have any of the new armor yet). New legendary weapons start at 331 damage and you only need to unlock the perks.

It will definitely add variety to armor but I don't think so much to weapons. Gjally, Fatebringer, some of the IB weapons, Sexy Vexy, and {insert new HoW weapon here} will still be the go to weapons. Actually, some of the old faction weapons too.
