What are the issues with House Of Wolves? I thought the general consensus was that it was a better expansion than The Dark Below.

No no, I said the one thing they've done right since release is that they fixed issues with the House Of Wolves release (reforging, vault space, ascension, etc.) and listened to the community's gripes.

That being said, many of the new weapons suck in HOW, POE isn't quite as thrilling as a Raid, and Trials Of Osiris is the ultimate form of elitist BS there is, and full of cheaters as well. And we still need more vault space.

It seemed like more content then CE(the missions were more enjoyable to play), but I did not find PoE to be enjoyable. Granted I havn't played since they fixed Skolas. But I found Prison to be very tedious and not fun, lack of check points played into it as well.

Man, I reached level 20 (haven't finished all the story missions yet) and would like to level up in the crucible but I'm so weak compared to everyone else....is there anyway at all to level up faster? Yes I know about the bounties but don't like doing them much.

level doesn't matter in Crucible as there are no level advantages unless you are doing the special Iron Banner Crucible mode that usually appears monthly

you will probably be outclassed by others with weapons with better perks but no reason to avoid based on your level ... your main disadvantage might be newness and unfamiliarity with the maps

Leveling up after 20 is weird. Since it's totally dependent on your armor, you can go a long while being stuck on one level, then suddenly, when you get a new piece of good armor, you can level up 3 times in less time you were stuck on that one level. Outside of "chancing" into new armor though, you can do bounties and buy some at the citadel.

They did a good enough job with that stuff to pull me back in, but I hadn't settled on $40 as the price point for Comet. For some reason, I thought it would be $30 (half the price of a new game), and I probably would have paid $30 without much of a fuss.

I like PoE a LOT better than CE. I like the variety and the challenge is usually just at the right level for me, at least now that the burns are gone from Skolas. I actually think Skolas might be my favorite boss fight in the game (or maybe just behind Atheon). It's only three players, but the coordination required is great...Rubick, Toshka and I ran 35 twice this morning without a single wipe, and it was a good time. Even if it's played as intended, which it never is, CE simply isn't that good.

So after getting so much right with HoW, Bungie lost me again with that price point, because they've provided nothing to date to make me take their word about their content. And, of course, there are a lot of good games this year that $40 goes a long way toward buying.

I think what really has me hesitant on the $40 price is not so much about The Taken King, but the two expansions that are supposed to come after it.

If they come out with an "Expansion Pack II" at $35 again, that's going to make it tough to keep going. I don't know if I'd go for another $75. Now, if they came out and said "guess what, that $40 includes the last two expansions, then it would really make that a decent deal.

I won't even consider buying TTK until I know what the future plans are beyond it.

I think HoW has better content as well. I think the fact that people can one-man Crota raid is kinda ridiculous, it shows that Bungie rushed that DLC. A raid was intended to be a team effort. And since I'm not a swordbearer, I find beating Crota rather boring. Generate orbs, go middle, shoot rockets at Crota, rinse repeat. With PoE, I feel like I'm always an active participant in the group.

I do think the weapons are better for Crota because of their unique perks.

While I like the idea of reforging, I think it kinda ruins a lot of the weapons. A shotgun from the Queen, Dead Orbit, Crucible, Vanguard etc. can have the exact perks by reforging. I wish the Queen's weapons would have it's own unique set of perks. I feel like it's a waste opening the Treasure Chest cause the Queen's weapons aren't all that special.

If the base game at $60 has four planets, I expected each expansion to at least have one.

I was really, really expecting House of Wolves to have The Reef as a playable area.

OK, now here we go with the Xur Report, brought to you by the Gjallarhorn. If you have one, then you know.

I'm going to be adding a new experiment this week, which will be added a little later. In addition to the traditional report, I'm adding a brand new video version! So stay tuned for that in a bit. As for now, it's business as usual.

Xur is located back in the Tower this week, hanging out near the Vanguard advisers in center tower.

For the Titan, it's the new boots, the Peregrine Greaves! Have a look:


Decent roll of intellect, decent looking, but it has perhaps the worst perk of all the exotic armor in the game (well, maybe the Arachnid is worse). The perk lets your shoulder charge do more damage, when you do it in air.

These do, however, complete my Exotic armor collection.

For the Hunter, it's the Crest Of Alpha Lupi chest. Great for Prison Of Elders or Trials Of Osiris. The perk lets you revive teammates faster while also generating more orbs. Decent roll.

For the Warlock, it's The Heart Of The Praxic Fire. Rain down grenades while in Raidance. Again, a decent roll and a must have for any Warlock.

The engram this week is for helmets.

The weapon this week is Red Death. So much for killer and ice's luck. Red Death is a decent gun, and awesome in hard Crota and PVP.

Anyhoo, Trials Of Osiris takes place on Phobos this week, on the Black Shield map. It's probably my favorite HOW map.
