Because not all games are tradeable...and if they don't specify disc-based, idiots will be demanding to know why they can't trade PSN downloads.

I don't think anybody really expected it to be. Other than very few moneyhats, I don't think many third party games will be exclusive this gen.

I imagine KH3 will still be though.

There was a tweet last night by Sony that heavily implied that FFXV and KH3 would not be exclusives. It was implied by omission. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Most everybody feels that way up to a point. I bought CDs and ripped them until a year or two ago.

The only reason I still buy disk based games is because they have residual value and don't take up space on relatively small console hard drives. I actually consider the box and physical media a bit of a negative in that it takes up space, is perishable and I have to physically put it in the machine.

Mine just expired (bought it off ebay last year during E3, when Sony was giving them away) was hoping for a similar situation, but this works just as well since I have $15 in RZ credit.

Just pre-ordered the system, an extra controller and FIFA through Amazon.

But as far as we've heard: that only pertains only to digital downloads, physical discs won't have restrictions.

Yeah, but they can't stop me from reselling my disc. And if they somehow can, I won't be buying that publisher's games. After the Sim City fiasco, I'm pretty close to dumping EA anyway.

DRM on digital media is expected, DRM on physically bought media is ridiculous. If Microsoft really wants to make the push for DRM controlled everything they'd have to release Halo 5 as a download-only game.

Sure...just wanted to clarify that publishers could place some restrictions on DLC or online play for physical media and that there was a precedent for that...which would explain why Jack Tretton had to make the statement the way he did.

There would have to be a cost benefit in tying your internet to download games we can assume will be anywhere from 10-30 gigs in size.

Isn't all DLC restricted unless you buy a game of the year version on disc?

I was thinking of examples like Batman Arkham City where you got content if you bought it new but had to pay for it otherwise.

Well, I suppose they could do like DC Universe originally did, and have an activation code that can only be used once with the game. Of course, that might not be foolproof, as I was able to trade that one in to Best Buy for $30 after realizing what they'd done. I certainly wouldn't buy any console game that I knew followed that model.

At any point didn't the Sony conference did they say whisper quiet when talking about the system? I love my PS3 but the sound of the fan kicking in drives me bonkers.

If so, I strongly recommend opening it up and hitting it with a vacuum, as it gets loud right when it gets congested and it gets congested right before it dies.

PS3 slims, or at least the 3 in my house, are whisper quiet.
