Yes(at least in Mario), Gamepad defaults to player 2 because you only do secondary functions like putting blocks on the screen. What does player 2 do in Luigi?
Why not just switch controllers? |

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I don't think people are mentioning the surround sound enough in this game. I'm early into the game, I just completed Dragon Roost Cavern, but there alone the 5.1 surround mix was one of the most impressive I've ever heard in a video game. Heck, it is better than many movies. More than once I thought the sounds were coming from another source in my house or outside somewhere. I am stunned at how wonderful it is, and how it has taken the game to yet another level along with the new visuals and the other extras and fixes. I'm blown away.
If you have the ability, crank up the volume and immerse yourself even more so in the Wind Waker universe. Please tell me that Dragon Roost Cavern isn't already the high point for the sound and that it just gets better from there. Anyone else got any thoughts on this aspect of the game? |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Dragon Roost, IMO, is the best track in the game.

It is pretty great, yeah. That isn't what I loved so much though. The sound effects, all of that, just incredible.

I really, really don't get the point of being able to play Wii games on the gamepad but still be required to use the remote and nunchuck. If they would add something like being able to play the Mario Galaxy games on the gamepad and use the gamepad as the controller, that would be amazing.

Finished installing. The OS still seems awfully sluggish to me.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Wii games on the GamePad? Holy shit. Anyone try this yet?

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Sucks you can't map the controls. Maybe future update?

Damn Super Mario 3D World just keeps looking better and better.

I'd still like a Mario Galaxy-like Mario, but this will do. |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Can't you just buy those on the WiiShop? I know they wouldn't work on the gamepad, but is that really worth a big announcement?

Boo! Those delay rumors for DK were true :(
Nintendo needed every game they could get this year. |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I heard Birdo isn't invited to Mario & Sonic Winter Olympics Sochi 2014 for fear of Russian imprisonment.

Is that Bravely Default's character's name really Ringabel? Why does that sound familiar?

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
No mention on the Wii U update? Seems weird.

So...I know the games in Nintendoland are mostly just mini-games based off of ideas of some of their core franchises. However, being that I've never played Pikmin, I thoroughly enjoy playing the pikmin mini game on NL, is the main game franchise anything like what's in NL?

Well, I might like that even more. I got a Gift Card for Target from the owner of my work and it's already burning a hole in my pocket...thinking about picking it up after work.

Downloaded the Pikmin DLC. 4 new Fruit Challenge levels (+1 remake) for $2. That's DLC pricing I can get behind.
*edit - scratch that, all 5 are just remixed versions of existing maps. |

It's been a little while since I played the Nintendoland version, but I remember it being more running-and-action as opposed to the somewhat more strategy/management-oriented full game. You're not running around and whacking stuff with your head for sure. Is the demo still available in the eShop?
