In Delay, 'Rayman Legends' Gets Thirty Additional Levels and Wii U Exclusive Mode

Exclusive free online challenge mode releasing this month.

Ubisoft has charted a difficult course for 'Rayman Legends.' The game debuted at E3 as one of the more intriguing Wii U exclusives. After the game slid to the end of the Wii U launch window, Ubisoft announced that the title would be multiplatform. The team had crunched to complete the game, and expectant fans were upset that the Wii U version was not only no longer exclusive, but was being held back six months until the 360 and PS3 ports were ready.

As the furor over the game grew, Ubisoft promised Wii U owners that to ease the angst over the wait, they would receive a second demo.

Now though, it seems that Ubisoft has acknowledged the sensitive public nature of the title and directed efforts towards appeasing fans. The game is being expanded with thirty more levels across versions. These new levels include new enemies and bosses.

The second Wii U demo, promised for later this month, has been redefined as a free release of the four level online challenge mode and is exclusive tor the Wii U eShop.

Too late Ubi, you blew it. In the busy fall lineup Rayman is now a $20 purchase*.

*I'll be back later to eat crow when I buy it on launch day.

Considering what happened to the last Rayman that should only take a month, maybe less.

Which is a shame, Rayman Legend was fantastic.

True, and I did buy it at full price for the Vita (and got a cheap PS3 version). But only suckers buy Ubisoft games at launch these days.

Is it shared with the 3DS yet? If not, they're just dancing around the correct ecosystem.

Great improvements with the update. Console no longer needs to be on while downloading and installing. Games can be installed in the background, updates can now download automatically. You can boot into wii mode by holding B at startup. Two usb devices are now supported at once.

All good news. The lag is really painful.

I've never played Earthbound. I'll definitely be picking that up. Still no firm date for New Super Luigi U.
I remember buying this game on clearance at Best Buy as a kid. It came in that huge ass box with a scratch and sniff strategy guide. Pretty decent RPG. Can't wait to play this again.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the Wii U and the 3DS being my only console/handheld going forward. I've hardly touched my 360 (Bioshock Infinitie didn't really pull me in like I had hoped), so I'll probably be sitting out the next console race.

I won't get rid of my 360, but I can see it being used more for just XBL type titles.

Between the amount of Nintendo titles coming out this year (It's really insane - Nintendo has like half a dozen Mario games set for release this year on the 3DS) and the GamePad playing VC titles...I'm really set.

Haven't tried it. I just don't really have the time for these really expansive games. Unless I get hooked in the first few hours I'm out.

Yeah, go try Tomb Raider.

BioShock Infinite never hooked me but I was curious to see what the hoopla over the story was, it was enjoyable but the gameplay was dated. Tomb Raider was Uncharted with fun gameplay and faster pacing. It focused on one thing Arcade titles get right and big budget games seem to get wrong: Fun gameplay.

Kirby for $.30 should be up today. Haven't had time to check yet.

Earthbound is one of the best games ever made, IMO.

I sprang for Lego City Undercover the other day. We haven't got to play much but I have seen the loading screen way too much. I've also encountered an audio issue like the one in Epic Mickey 2 where the dialog track doesn't play during cutscenes. I really do enjoy the WiiU and feel it could go places but the game developers just seem lazy and hell bent on fucking up numerous releases. I own 4 WiiU games and have serious issues with 2 of them. I'm annoyed my the Epic Mickey 2 issue but with the studio closed I just have to deal with it. However Traveller's Tales has made how many Lego games to date and loading is still an issue?!?! Utter bullshit.

The other way around actually, announced for the Wii U, not the 3DS.

There is an audio setting in the Wii U game pad menu under options to switch the audio from stereo, surround, etc. I had a similar issue with Assassins Creed until I tried changing it. Not sure if this is what the problem is, but it's worth a shot. Good luck!

Pikmin 3; a brief history:

<s>Wii release: 2011</s>
<s>WiiU launch: Nov. 2012</s>
<s>March 2013</s>
<s>May 2013</s>
August 4, 2013

How long before they announce they're going to just do a 3DS game instead?

I bought a e-shop card and noticed it wont let you use the card on 3DS and wiiU. It has to be one or the other. Really shitty Nintendo. was hoping to get the 30 cent games on Wii U and some 3DS games.

Yeah, but I think what he's saying is he bought a card and expected the balance to be reflected on both his Wii U and 3DS.

Ouch.

Nintendo Wii U sales in dire straits, being outsold by original Wii

Nintendo is running out of time to sell the Wii U before it gets heavy competition from both the PlayStation 4 and the next Xbox. As Engadget points out, Nintendo has reported selling just 390,000 Wii U consoles over the past quarter, which puts its total number of consoles sold at just 3.45 million.

This means that Nintendo didn’t even hit its sales target of 4 million consoles sold by the end of March, despite the fact that it was a downward revision from an earlier sales target of 5.5 million.

But this isn’t even the most humiliating aspect of Nintendo’s anemic Wii U sales record, since T3 notes that Nintendo has actually sold around 4 million of its original Wii consoles since the launch of the Wii U, meaning that gamers are still much more interested in its years-old model than the current version

^^ Wish they'd drop the price - significantly -- so I can justify getting one for the kids.
