You're going to pay $10 more and wait 2 months? Well alright but (insight)

$10 more to own a physical copy in case the WiiU goes south? Sure. Plus I'm starting Last of Us tonight. That'll keep me busy for a bit.

I am eager to give the pro controller a spin with Mario though.

Picked up Luigi for the wife. She had no idea about the 100 second limit, not too happy. Seems pretty hectic, difficult, and fun.

I bought the DLC earlier, great stuff.

I was thinking about waiting for the disc based version but since I downloaded NSMBU I figured I might as well just download this one also.

$20 is expensive?

For something that goes *poof* if your console dies, or if you buy a different one down the line, yes. Until they have a system in place like Sony or MS where you can redownload your stuff on different consoles, I'm not buyin.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

How is that better than MS or Sony's? Because you can nuke your system and essentially get a massive refund?

I think I prefer the tied to your account, not the console method. And if my console gets stolen, I'm still good.

You gonna transfer over your XBL titles to the Xbox One? Oh wait....

$20 isn't that much. If my console gets stolen $20 is the least of my worries.

I'm not worried about theft. I've had 1 YLOD and 4 or 5 RROD. Theft would actually be a nice change of pace. ;)

When they get their infrastructure up and running I'll consider some digital titles (given the right deal) but until then , I can wait.

You know full well what I mean. If my 360 dies and can run out, buy a new one and redownload everything I've ever bought the same day. No need for talking to CSRs, or hoping for a refund, or even hoping certain titles are still available to purchase, just log in and redownload.

Unless it's changed, you need the serial number to properly transfer everything or you can only play those XBL games while connected to the internet. Also only once per year. Is that right?

I don't think you need your old serial number, just the new one. But it has been 5 years since I've done that.

I believe you just need your new serial #. I think it's once per 6 months or something like that.

Finally opened the Nintendo pro controller(had it in the box since launch). Ooh, it's comfy. Feels like the 360 pad. Works awesome with Mario.

So there's a patch for NSMBU that lets you use the Pro Controller? Sweeeeet.

And that Luigi game is only $20 through the estore? See, that's how you get people to go digital.

Oh, so the Luigi thing is DLC for NSMBU? I thought it was a standalone game.

If you buy the physical version it's standalone

Gotcha, thanks!

The one thing I wish they would add in a patch is the ability to shut down the gamepad while the console is still running. If I'm using the pro controller, I'm just wasting the battery on the gamepad by keeping it on.

Pretty sure you can turn the gamepad off.

How? If you press the power button it turns off the whole console.

Somewhere in the pause menu? It's been awhile since I messed with it.

Yeah, I knew you could turn off the display, but if you're playing a game that uses the Pro Controller, or a Wii remote, it makes no sense for the Gamepad to have to be on.

So I found a 2000 point Wii card amongst the dusty remnants of my Wii... Can I and how do I use these points for the Wii U? Clearly the points cannot be used at the eShop because I couldn't use them for Luigi U yesterday. Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately you can only use the Wii card in the Wii shop. So on a Wii, or a Wii U in Wii mode. There are some virtual console games that you can buy on the Wii (with the points), and then pay a small upgrade fee on the Wii U (as long as it's a VC title that's available on the Wii U.

Nintendo still hasn't figured out how to run an eshop? That's kind of ridiculous. I'm guessing my 3DS is a different store too.
