re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I've read the fix is killing the Internet connection. I haven had a chance to test yet though.
Of course this kills the MiiVerse. |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
So, my brother bought the Wii U because his kids broke the Wii (they stuck 3 discs in the slot...)
He's not giving it to them until Christmas, so he's letting me "borrow" it so I can do the updates and get the system configured so they don't have to do it on Christmas day (he's kind of dumb with tech stuff...) So yeah... free Wii U for me for a couple weeks while it's at my house. :D Doing the update now. Holy fuck. 20 minutes in, and the update bar is about 3 or 4 % done. |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Was not able to pick my console so i let a co-worker buy my reserved system so his little brother could have a merry Christmas. Probably going to buy a few points cards in the meantime, as I've got some VC games to buy once I have the system.

This sounds like an amazing launch so far!

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Here is a Motion Plus controller with a game for $15 with in store pickup...
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...er=lw9MynSeamY I just picked up two. I ordered two, got an email saying one was ready and the other canceled. I went in, they got the one, and I explained I ordered two but one was canceled and that I saw a whole bunch on these shelf. They went to the games, grabbed another one, and I left with two. Great deal! If you have one or all of them canceled, go to the store and check if they have it on the shelf then go back to order pickup and show them your order email. You may have luck! Edit: Here is the one with Flingsmash for $22... http://m.toysrus.com/skava/static/pr...ww.toysrus.com |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
You can get the motion plus adapters for under $15 at Amazon. I'm going to go that route since I already have four Wiimotes and there are no Wal-Marts near me.
Alternately, if you want a game you might actually play, Red Steel 2 with a motion plus adapter is $24.90: http://www.amazon.com/Red-Steel-2-Mo...ds=motion+plus |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Anyone try darksiders II yet? I really want to play another GamePad game where I don't have to play on the TV and this one looks like it might be pretty good.

looks like even the resellers know this is a bad investment Sounds like a successful launch! |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I love that this console works perfectly without any video cables plugged in

So what you are saying is that basically everyone who wants to get a console can get one.
Sounds like a successful launch! |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I was planning to cancel my preorder but the wife stepped in. She was pissed as she wanted it for herself as we'll as for the kids. Hopefully all these bugs get worked out before Christmas.

[QUOTE=Brent L;11482550]Here is a Motion Plus controller with a game for $15 with in store pickup...
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...er=lw9MynSeamY Thanks Brent! Ordered one for local pick up. I was looking at this combo in the Walmart flyer last week and then forgot all about it. I have the Motion Plus add on that came with Wii Sports Resort a few years ago. I had really only been using it lately for Skyward Sword, but it really seems to kill the batteries. It will be nice to have a new Wii mote to match my shiny new Wii U! |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Since I'm still waiting for Gamestop to acknowledge my order and charge me, can someone in the meantime answer if the "universal remote" features of the system will work on receivers? We control all our inputs through our receiver at home.
|
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
It should. When you set it up, it asks what you use to control the devices in your home.

I wanted a couple to replace my old original white remotes, and the one Motion+ adapter I had. I hate having that big thing sticking out the bottom of the controller, and yeah, it's great that these match my new black Wii U. Just yesterday the golden nunchuk was available on Club Nintendo once again finally and I got an order in for one of those to go with my golden Zelda remote. It sure will be tempting to sell it though. I had no clue that they go for so much on eBay. Heck, had I realized that I would have spent the rest of my points on a second one maybe. |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
There has been discussion on that over at CAG. To summarize: Canada only, no internet.
|
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Who exactly would that be targeted at?
Exclusively young children? That's about all I can think of. |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Why would someone choose that over a used Wii for cheaper? Is that a flip-top CD tray? Hello 1998...
|
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Also no Gamecube support.
It just occurred to me that "no online" means "no VC". Fucking useless. |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Okay, I might be mildly retarded, but I can't figure out where to download the rush packs for NSMB2 on the 3DS.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Fuck. Nintendo is making it hard to stay away from this thing.
|
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Yep, as I said, mildly retarded. Thanks!
