Re: The Walking Dead (Telltale Games)

Well, it's too bad it's DLC for Season 1 instead of standalone. I cared for the game quite a bit, but played through the disc and sold it. I'm not buying again just to pay extra for another hour or two.

For a while Episode 1 was free download, if that's still the case you can d/l that and play the DLC.

It was free last week on Xbox Live, unfortunately it's back to 400 MSP. PSN has the season pass on sale this week for $5.00 (PS+ members).

Re: The Walking Dead (Telltale Games)

Seems like the gameplay is a lot different in the DLC:

Re: The Walking Dead (Telltale Games)

The 400 Days DLC was fantastic. I will definitely play it again closer to the Season 2 release, just to see the other possible endings.

I only got the chance to play 3 of the stories before leaving on vacation. I was pleased with the ones I played.

Re: The Walking Dead (Telltale Games)

I just finished it. It was good but really short. As for the ending,
Spoiler:
I had two stay at the camp. The kid and the con.

How'd everybody else fare?

Re: The Walking Dead (Telltale Games)

Just wrapped it up.

Spoiler:
I had three stay at the camp. The kid and the sisters from the diner.

I wonder if some of those characters are the cast of season 2.

That's the vibe I got. But I was also expecting the ending to be that
Spoiler:
that lady that recruits them would have said they were headed to Woodbury.

Re: The Walking Dead (Telltale Games)

Just finished playing 400 Days all in one sitting. For my ending,

Spoiler:
everyone left the camp and went with Tavia.

I found it really difficult to be invested in any of the stories, since they were so short and lacking context. It's basically just a prologue for season 2, and I suppose that's ok.

Re: The Walking Dead (Telltale Games)

"400 Days" was well-written and fun to play. However, it was missing two key components that made the core game great:

1. No emotional connection to the characters (each vignette was too short for that).
2. No chance to see the consequences of your choices. In all the stories, the choice was made right at the end, and it didn't connect to the other stories like I thought it would. Maybe this will come in Season 2...?

Also, I thought that your choices in the core game were supposed to effect events in this one? I didn't see any evidence of that, although maybe I missed something.

Finally, I was surprised that 70% of players:

Spoiler:
Opted to shoot the white-collar criminal over the rapist!

There was only one that I noticed, and it was missable:
Spoiler:
At the beginning of Russell's story, you get the option to either hide or stand your ground when Nate's truck is approaching. If you choose to hide, Russell snuggles up to a corpse on the side of the highway -- it's either Doug or Carly, depending on which one was saved and then shot by Lilly in the main game.

Re: The Walking Dead (Telltale Games)

I did two playthroughs of 400 Days and the 1st time only got 3 of the 5 to join the settlement (Shel and that younger girl stayed at camp). I made the opposite choices on the second playthough and got all 5 to join.

Looking forward to the next episode.

In the story with the sisters, the old man (Boyd?) mentions that he was part of the group that
Spoiler:
stole the boat Lee and the others found in that house where Lee was eventually bit while looking for Clementine.
