Yep. Grinding won't get you much of anywhere in the long run. Finishing and then turning in quests, especially main story quests, is a significantly better way of getting XP.

So I robbed the train earlier and racked up the $$. Bumped me up to nearly $25k. Next mission I guess I got hit by a rat and I'm back to $13k.
Fuck that. They need to patch that shit outta there. Or at least tone down how much they take.
Really? That was the last mission I did before bed last night and was half asleep.
Finished without a hiccup. Of course I have a badass incindiary pistol that I combined with grenades and Phaselock so that made it pretty easy. In between rounds I ran back to Tina's garage and loaded back up on grenades from Marcus' machine.

I can't figure out how the enemy scaling works...one character I went back to clean up old side missions and they were so low level I was getting 1 xp...another mission that was listed even lower... the enemies ended up being higher level than me. On another character those two same side missions were reversed with one being higher level and the other being lower level. I thought at first it had to do when you first travel to an area, but I don't think that is the case. I think it has something to do with how long you wait..if you end up say 10 levels higher than the mission it will bump it up...but I may be wrong..

What is the best philosophy for grenades? I can't decide what is doing more for me between a 550X7 one with Slag or a 1500 one that has the implosion/draw them in effect.

I've kept in my inventory both a MIRV x9 with a lot of damage and a fire damage wormhole one, I find the second one to be more useful overall.

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012
I also like my singularity grenade. They bring things into a confined area for more damage and then they're easier to target with the projectile weapons, whereas the MIRV won't hit everyone for the full x7 or x9 amount anyway, not to mention all the fuse time allowing escapees.

I tend to use the x7 ones more than the single. But I only use them when I see enemies close, in a confined area or a large slow one. If anything left in them I just spray the area with a Assault Rifle w/ Explosion Bullets or SMG w/ Fire. I do carry one single Fire One. I have yet use the ones that shoot bullets everywhere.

Got my review copy of Borderlands 2 today, I was about right in my timing
. I should be able to get to it in the next couple of days. If anybody wants to team up, feel free to add me (or send a request to play). Hope it is as much fun as I'm reading

Who else is playing this on PS3? Add me if you want to play. Also, I can share some of my money as well as some cool weapons. Right now I'm playing as a level 29 Commando. I can also help some lower level characters level up a bit.

You are correct....when you pull up a mission it'll say what Level it is along with degree of difficulty...Trival, Normal or hard.
I had to go back on a mission (nearly 5 Levels below what I am) and the XP for the soldiers was (1). On the other hand I was helping or tried to a friend who is about 5-6 levels ahead and I was getting nearly double what he was.
But I've still got to go thru some or most of it since it's showing "undiscovered". As to how it's scaled or formulated, who knows. But I'm sure Gearbox put it in to discourage going backwards or at least too far much like the first one.

I just wish that the enemies would scale up according to the difficulty of the mission and what level you are at the time you make a particular mission active. However, I understand that you can complete mission objectives without having a particular mission active while you are killing and stealing.

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012
Well, I completed the game twice, hit level 50 on my Commando, and finished all 1000 GS, so it's probably going to get traded in very soon. I'll most likely follow my new policy in our over-DLC'ed world of waiting for the inevitable GOTY version to play all the extra content at once rather than paying more than is necessary for a piece at a time.
I'm really wishing at this point that I had just sold my Premiere Club code. Golden Keys are a fun idea but I didn't need them at all in the end (I still have my 5 and they will likely remain unused), and the Vault Hunter relic is even more unnecessary. And while the concept of adding new classes like the Mechromancer is great, I just played through the first several areas/quests of this game 5 times in the past 2 weeks, so I have no desire to revisit them anytime soon. Maybe after a very long break, which waiting for the GOTY will provide.

I would start round 2 with the assassin, but after playing with the other 3 classes he's probably my least favorite.

Another small gripe: Trying to find some mission check points is a major pain in the arse. I spent 30 minutes trying to find the correct "path" to get to the final checkpoint of "The Good, the Bad and the Mordecai" mission... 30 wasted minutes!! I realize a lot of the landscape is undiscovered, but it'd be nice to get an optional breadcrumb path to show you how to get there.

Yeah, the maps and waypoints are pretty terrible. On the other hand, if you play all the story missions and sidequests, you'll know every map backward and forward by the time you're done.

maybe it is just nostalgia...but I sort of liked some of the maps and locations being a little hard to find..what I did not like is the lack of fast travel on some maps...

THIS is the problem I am having with this game. I loved the first BL. I think it was the second best game this console generation (Dark Souls being #1). I am having sooooo much trouble finding my way around. Am I a moron? Maybe so, but I don't remember driving all over the place in the first one just trying to find the marker. I waste ALOT of time in this game just trying to figure out where to go. I only have 2 hours most nights to play....spending most of that time driving around clueless is not what i want to be doing. I wish I would have bought the console version and I would have ebayed it by now. I got it off Steam, so I am stuck with it unfortunately.
