The mini-rockets skill for the Commando is so fucking badass. Fires so many of them, it's insane.

My Loot Chest from Fry's showed up today. Too tired to play.

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

just a quick question for those saving their keys...I already found 2 orange items and I am not even in sanctuary yet..(one of them is a godly grenade mod that I don't think I will replace for 10 levels)...and if this game is anything like the first, I will be covered in rare loot before the game is over....why save your key now? Just use it and get some good loot for your character to use now. I am sure you will find something better down the road anyway....or am I missing something?

Because the longer you go, the longer it takes to level up. I want a weapon that I can keep for quite a while, as opposed to wasting on some lvl. 12 gun that I'll "outgrow" more quickly.

but if this game is anything like the first, you get rare drops all the time. If you wait till level 30, odds are you will not get a better item then you already are using...

Is there any kind of system to the save points? I haven't played that much, but I feel like save points might be pretty far apart. I'm used to saving after any major battles and I'm not feeling that it's happening here.

my recollection of that is different than yours from the first, but i could very well be wrong. gearbox said they scale it to your level, so maybe i get something equivalent but maybe i get something better.

you walk by quite a few of them and you may not even notice if it's not directly in front or to the side of you. i've walked past a few that i didn't notice but eventually noticed when i ended respawing back there after death.

This is correct. There was a link either here or on CAG where Gearbox mentioned as much.

Anybody know how the ammo sharing works in co-op? Sometimes it seems like it doesn't matter who picks it up, but sometimes it seems like it does.

I say Deftones should take one for the team and use a key

I made an Assassin this time through. Kinda wish I did the Commando though. Anyone do the new class?

Also I signed up through Shift and didn't get anything.

I feel stupid. I thought it was autosave only.

For the most part, you don't need to worry about it in this game. Autosaves are pretty frequent, saving is automatic when you quit the game, and everything respawns anyway if you quit and restart or just leave the area (including enemies, all loot containers, and even bosses).

This morning, we received an email from a Destructoid fan named Carlo who shared a story about his late friend Michael John Mamaril. Last month, Michael passed away due to cancer at the young age of 22. Both were huge Borderlands fans, so Carlo thought a great way to honor his buddy's memory would be to shoot Gearbox Software an email asking for a short eulogy to be read by the game's smart-mouthed robot mascot Claptrap. Not only did Gearbox comply with the request, it also promised to insert Michael into the upcoming Borderlands 2 as an NPC.

This is, without a doubt, one of the most heartfelt and generous acts of fan appreciation ever. For Gearbox to extend such an honor demonstrates how serious the company is in forging meaningful relationships with the people who play its games. This certainly isn't the first time Gearbox has gone above and beyond, and I guarantee it won't be the last...
I remember reading this post earlier this year and thought that it was just incredible for Gearbox to do this. Anyway, I was playing yesterday and I talk to this character and he says something like "Hey, I found this and figured it might help you" and he gives me a new weapon... and then suddenly a trophy pops up on the screen... "Received an Item from Michael Mamaril". I immediately remembered this story. So yup, he's very much in the game as an NPC and he even has his own trophy.

HUGE to the dev team

He gives you a rare/blue item each time you talk to him as well, as long as you leave and re-enter Sanctuary or the game itself. It's worth stopping by whenever you're there. He does move around to different locations within the city, though.

I have yet to see an orange item drop.

I am not really sure how this works. I am assuming that they give everyone in the group the amount of ammo you would get if you picked it up on your own. The eridium that's picked up is given to everyone in the group that is nearby so I would imagine ammo is the same.

yeah, that makes sense, we were trying to test it, but maybe we were too far apart for it to work.

I found Michael last night too, that was pretty cool.

Me neither, and I'm level 19. I did get an orange shield, but it was from completing a mission.

Where does the shift code that it prompts you to enter after you register come from? I only received the initial e-mail that asked me to confirm my account.

Edited to add that the key is given automatically the next time you enter the game. And like Deftones, I was given 2.

I don't think you get a code, it was confusing to me at first. The code line is for future things you might recieve (I believe).

I got the golden key, without entering any code (though I didn't see anything in my inventory, I could open the chest).

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

Just for the heck of it I emailed amazon re the delay in sending the codes. I'm a little worried they don't thoroughly read English:

I pre-ordered this a month ago and one of the main reasons I did was because of the promo code bonuses. It's not a huge deal, but the code didn't come until late last night, and due to the specifics of the code, they're less useful that much into the game. If you look around you'll see a lot of people are pretty annoyed by this; usually the codes come right away. Again, not a huge deal, but disappointing, and I recommend the codes are sent when the item is shipped so customers can use them at the beginning. Thanks.
And the reply:
Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that you have not received you promotion code.

I checked your account and found that we had already sent you a generated claim code. I'm sending you third party promotional code(s): XXXX-XXXX-DQQVM-FYGY7-G4D and if you still face any problem, please let us know.
And by the way, this game is crazy fun. I quit my Gunzerker and started a new Siren. Great move. Cool powers. Big help in a team battle. Level 9 so far...

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

I downloaded the game off of Steam last night and played it for a couple of hours solo. It may just be me, but this game is alot tougher than the first one. I died ALOT. I made it past Flynt before I stopped for the night, but I had a tough time. However, I have been away from the FPS genre since last year so that could just be my problem

So far I can play the game at a low resolution on medium/high settings. It looks good. How do you check your frames per second? It seems pretty smooth. I have it set in the settings to "smoothness 22-60" -- is that where it should be?

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

This does feel tougher than the first. I'm dying a lot more than I did in the first game. I did find a explosive shotgun which helped me take down flynn solo without dying. So maybe it was the shitty weapons I started out with was the cause of getting killed so much?
