re: Battlefield Talk
Okay, I updated Post #2 with links to the DVDTalk Platoon on Battlelog and the (currently only) stats graphic available via the P-Stats Network we used for BFBC2. If they come up with some better ones, toss 'em out here in the thread and we'll see if we find one we like better as a group.
Do we want to try to set up a game this weekend? I'm up for playing a while tonight in the later hours - any takers? |

I don't get it.
...also, the more I hear, the more I think I'll be rolling back to BFBC2 about half the time...at least until they patch this thing a few times. |
re: Battlefield Talk
I'll probably primarily play CoD until they release all the gun/vehicle upgrades for BF3 on DLC like they did with BF2. It's not a fun enough experience to play and unlock everything.

re: Battlefield Talk
ogs and yaw, I see you're playing engineer quite a bit, too. I don't know about you, but I've taken to avoiding hopping into tanks and carrying the repair tool and instead have been packing double heat with a rocket launcher and anti-tank mines. Seldom seems like my team has a lot of tanks in the action around me yet I keep stumbling over enemy tanks all the time so the double opportunity to blow 'em up real good has been more appealing than repairing tanks (maybe not the way to gain higher squad scores, though).
I'm trying to decide if the laser sight actually does anything for my weapon, particularly if I'm already using something like the red dot sight. All it's done is annoy my squadmates when it goes right in their eyes. Likewise, when I see my screen filled with red laser sight, I know someone's aiming at me and I shoot at them even though I can't see them. I've gotten several kills that way. So really, I don't see the point in using it, though I'm open to being enlightened. Anyone on tonight or Saturday night? |
re: Battlefield Talk
I think the laser sight is a pretty poor choice. I constantly see red flashes on my screen and instinctively take cover. They're counter-productive.

Even with the hint, it took me a couple minutes to get it. I threw up a different option (but I left your layers in the background with the colors changed so we could quickly revert if you're attached to it).
OM NOM NOM would be a cool clan name too...tribute to Chew without directly naming him. |
re: Battlefield Talk
I really think Battlefield is just about the most amazing thing going, but boy can they fuck up a launch.

re: Battlefield Talk
My one and only minor complaint with BF3 is joining a friends game when the server is already full can be a real pain in the ass. That's it. And it's really not THAT big of a deal because it's launch week, and everyone is playing it, and there isn't a problem joining a random game that isn't already full. No biggie.
I think this game (and series) is absolutely amazing. I'm shocked at all the people that were canceling pre-orders or returning unopened games because of other peoples gripes. |
re: Battlefield Talk
What I learned last night in Battlefield:
- Playing with DVDTalkers in Conquest is far more valuable than playing with randoms in Rush. I tripled/quadrupled my scoring and increased my K/D and Winning percentage. - I have no idea how to kill stuff with planes other than suicide crashing - is it possible that the Conquest servers are more stable than the Rush servers? - no crashing or being booted for me. - douchebags like to camp out in French apartments - Sore throats suck when trying to communicate. - pointing the laser pointer @ Slider is lots of fun |
re: Battlefield Talk
What I learned last night in Battlefield:
- Playing with two full squads of DVDTalkers and Friends in Conquest rocks! Next time, we'll have to turn on "Team Chat" when we've stacked the team so much. - Voice Chat is still sketchy at best. Everyone keeps cutting out. Unless it's just me. If it's just me, people need to let me know so I can investigate the issue, but so far it seems to be everyone. - How to turn on and turn off the tactical light to make it more... tactical (up button on the D-pad - thanks, yaw). Now that I have it, it seems helpful to brighten up hallways. - Playing Engineer with both a rocket launcher and mines has left me not repairing anything but wow, vehicle destruction is so, so fun. - With so many people trying to learn how to fly choppers and jets, it's easy to capture flags on the ground. At least, until they get the hang of it, light me up, and leave me to learn to fly way behind the curve. - I need to stop trying to get places in bottlenecks. I need to give up and search for a way around more often and definitely sooner! - How to knife. I still tend to shoot people but yeah, I need to knife more. Also, no worries if people don't dig on that emblem. I'm going to try and make a few more and toss 'em up. As for the teabag one, maybe I should show it to the MOB, given their namesake. |
re: Battlefield Talk
Definitely a great Battlefield night last night.
First time playing with a large squad of DVDTalkers and we definitely rolled a bit on Conquest. Right after my humblebrag/disgust at continually being the 3rd leading scorer on a map, I finally got my Ace on a really interesting map. It was just me, Slider and Hudson and a lot of silence... but it was a map where a single guy going Rambo can be really effective. I don't know what map was called but it was a completely different breed because of the marshes and fences. Slider and I crossed paths a few times and managed to hold a flag against a meddling tank. Also, I still don't get knifing. Why sometimes it works... and why sometimes I end up staring at the dude while he pops me three times in the face. |
re: Battlefield Talk
Last night's server was definitely ours. By my count throughout the night, we had flip, Cruz, murray, Slider, Hudson, yawmush, Octo (my brother), blackhawk (guy ogs and I met), dogowar, Diecast, and me all on one side at one time, plus Eggo and ZTool (another guy ogs and I met, I think) on the other team.
That's thirteen of us. Sweet. |

I gotta admit I like Conquest on BF3 far more than I ever did on BFBC2. - Spotting eliminates the campers. What I have found with knifing is that you have to come up behind the opponent in order for it to work. No more knifing from the front for an instant kill. Sucks but the animation is soooooooooooo satisfying. |

re: Battlefield Talk
Maybe we need to set up a night when we have some of us on both teams so we can practice knifing each other to better understand the mechanics of it.

There'll be 50 youtube videos on this in a minute. |
re: Battlefield Talk
Man you guys were late to the party last night. Where was everyone when I was trying to find a decent game? I was in a terrible 6 on 7 map with McD before giving up to devote the evening to some NHL.

re: Battlefield Talk
I'm having Battlefield withdrawels. I've been without power for 2 days. Damn October snow storms.

re: Battlefield Talk
I've been sick as a dog and fell asleep on Saturday night watching Clemson lose
Last night I fell asleep pretty early - 9pmish |
re: Battlefield Talk
My work and family obligations usually see me playing in the later hours of the evening these days, flip.
I'll probably be online for a limited time each night for a few maps this week and I'm out of town this weekend. For those of you who've been playing with me this week, I'm trying to determine if my headset is starting to go on me. Obviously, I'm cutting out and people are cutting out on me, too. So is it Battlefield 3 or is it my headset? I tend to hear and be heard better in two-person squads and as soon as it gets up to three or four the problems become much more clear. Thoughts on this one? |
