This is very a good hybrid between BFBC2 and MW2. I think I still prefer COD for pick up and play, but I can definitely find time for this as well.

This still has the stupid glitch sometimes where you win and it says you lost. Happened to me on my first round if TDM. That is pathetic.

I figured out how to login, finally. The Online Pass screen never showed up this afternoon when I turned on the game so I was trying to access Origin, EA, Battlelog instead. It was confusing for me and I would've been playing with you guys today if that screen had ever popped up.

I'm going to work and will be home after 10:00pm CST or so. Hoping to play a little bit tonight or tomorrow morning but there's enough work that needs to get done that my first real go at it may not be until after work on Wednesday night.

Thanks for the invite yesterday shumway. I just picked up that official sony headset with BF3 so it wasn't charged yet... else I would've been talking. Really liking the game so far, although I gotta get used to the controls. I had BC2 set up like BC1. This one didn't give me that option.

I would have had at least yours and nic's too but I didn't quite grasp the knife-ready mechanic. Also seems the run-by-knifing is extinct.

You can run by knife, just won't get their tags. I knifed someone from the front without getting their tags yesterday morning.

I found some odd things last night with the knife mechanic. It almost seemed like if I tried to knife someone when we were facing each other they were able to evade. And I was right on top of them during a reload. I couldn't tell if it was my failure with the knife-ready system or a glitch or what. I must have missed half a dozen knifings last night for reasons I deemed inexplicable at the time. The visual happened too fast for me to process. I wasn't pissed about this until one of these "misses" was Nic.

Yeah, some dude tried to knife me while I was prone and it didn't take. I thought it was a teammate and the little slashes of red across my screen were from lying too close to the fire so I stood up and he finally knifed me... in the front so he didn't get my tags. Gotta admit, I'm actually bummed about the knife mechanics compared to BFBC2. I doubt I'll be attempting to knife anytime soon.

Finally got a chance to play after work last night. Hopped into the last match you guys had for a little bit and then kept playing with my brother and two guys that excom101 and I have played with before (blackhawk and wouldn't you know it - Eggo was back!). I enjoyed myself quite a bit. My beta worries are pretty much over. I could feel the game play a lot better in this than the beta and I actually had fun (though having people I knew in my squad helped with that, for sure). Now it's all about figuring out the learning curve, which is going to be tricky but that's part of the experience. Does feel like a lot of people are really doing the whole spray-and-pray method and succeeding, which is a bummer, people aren't spotting enemies (perhaps out of ignorance, perhaps out of forgetfulness as they experience new maps, perhaps out of greed for wanting the kills instead of the spot points), and the weapons I've used so far have a tremendous amount of recoil (aiming has never been my strong suit but this is even harder), but for the most part it's working out okay.

Little differences are interesting, both good and bad. I like the new squad set up, when it works. Easier to find each other. Though when you click "Invite a Friend" from in a game, it just takes you to your friends list on the PSN ribbon and there's no actual squad invite like in BFBC2 that I can discern and that's frustrating. I like the flag countdowns and I was marking objectives left and right as squad leader, though I didn't dig on how you can't mark the objective if you're too close to it - it's all about marking it far ahead of time and taking the squad there. No last-minute, "Whoops! Forgot to mark it for extra points," this time around. Also, who's great idea was it to have the flag countdown go right in the middle of the screen, you know, where I'm aiming?! Tank aiming is nice and precise; I even took out a helicopter with a tank (points seem reversed, as I got more for "disabling" it than I did "destroying" it).

On a personal note, I think I'm going to have a difficult time with this color scheme and overall menu design / theme. The blue text is sincerely difficult for me to read and discern over the landscape - I kinda got a headache. I definitely preferred the black-and-white text on bright backgrounds from BFBC2. The part where the game's color scheme and design actually annoy me is in the opening and the menus. When you toggle through screens, it does this little "digitized" effect as if you're changing old UHF channels and it's finding the frequency. It would be a cool aesthetic if it wasn't so annoying and frankly, time consuming, when you add it all up. The intro does the same digitizing effect and my wife, though excited for me to have this new game I've been talking about so much, saw that the first time I fired it up and immediately said, "...So we have to watch that every time you turn on the game?!" Basically, she said exactly what I was thinking.

I'll probably be on after work for a few hours tonight, say after 9:00pm or 10:00pm CST.

Once you see their info from your friends list, if you select the little icon underneath... the first one on the left (says something about bf3), it will then give you the option to either invite them or join their session. A nice little touch... but it takes far too long for their info to pop up from your buddy list, so it makes it hard to sneak someone in when your team has just dropped from 12 players to 11.

I have been sending messages bitching about this to as many official dice/bf3 channels as I can for the last few days. You are not the only one.

Also, I've created a DVDTalk Platoon on battlelog.battlefield.com that will allow us to compare stats, track achievements, etc.

I missed a couple on you - while you were camping in a corner.

Anytime Meatpants. If you see I'm on, or, most likely anyone from this thread, feel free to either message for a squad invite or just click join session. Sometimes on BC2 I would sit on one of the friend's names hitting x repeatedly until the lobby wasn't full. It's just as much fun if you end up on the opposite team because you can get tags or kill them, or, if you're like me, get killed by them. Coolio on the mic. I just ended up with the same thing this weekend too.

Yeah. Probably when I was up in that office-type area above the MCOM raining rockets. I kept dropping to prone because I thought someone did that to me earlier. When I tried to knife him, he dropped to prone, popped back up and shotgunned me. I couldn't tell why you missed me though.

Will do. I noticed when I finally got on your server, I wasn't initially in your squad but you can go into the squad menu and change squads mid-round. There's also an option to change sides (as long as the teams don't become too one-sided and the server isn't maxed out).

Another positive note, I figured out how to get into a hardcore match and there IS spotting and a mini-map this time. So far it looks like it is just more damage and the usual guessing about how much ammo is in your clip and left in general.
