That was pretty cool. GTA will have alot of competition for their next game.

I hope there are some pre-order bonuses. I'm hesitant to order just yet.

Does the first game still hold up? I have both 1 and 2 but not sure if i should play the first or just jump right into 2.

I think you should jump into part 2.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

I played 2 first...and enjoyed it so much I went back and played 1. I don't care much about graphics, but if they bother you the first one is not much more than a xbox game....still a blast to play....

Some people felt the first one was harder, with less checkpoints...but I did not find that to be the case....Saints Row games have always been a bit on the easy side...

I loved 2 that much as well but I think I'll be skipping a pre-order and just heading to Target on release date.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

Without dragging this too much off topic. Is there even a need to pre-order games anymore? With the last few games I've bought Day 1, I've just showed up at the store and bought it. Can't remember the last time I've ever run into anything being "sold out".

Yeah I'm definitely looking forward to picking this up...the 2nd one was a lot of fun. I kind of got a little bored with it after doing the Ultor missions..you could only do crowd control and demo derby so many time before it starts getting repetitive but those were only minor complaints.

Only if the retailers are offering Pre-Order Bonuses, like gift cards or extra in game content.

Pre-orders are really not necessary to secure a release day copy, unless it's a limited release of some kind. If you're talking about AAA titles, there will always be plenty in stock on release day.

I only pre-order if Amazon is giving away $20 credit.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

I enjoyed the first one quite a bit when it was released. Played through over half of it and then got caught up in something else (and so on,) so I went back and finished it last year. It didn't age incredibly well, but was still quite fun.

Saints Row 2 is sitting in my backlog. I need to get around to it before this one comes out. I've heard really good things.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

I hated the second one, but I played it so long ago that I can't remember why. I just remember finding it frustrating and not very fun. This one, however, looks pretty fucking awesome. Definitely looking forward to picking this one up.

Sweet lord this game looks nuts. Really looking forward to it. I played the first one a bunch but never got into the 2nd one.

There are a few Chinese massage parlors that can take care of that...

One concern I have about the game

Everything is suppose to be unlocked and powered up from the start. Part of the fun of games like this is the RPG-like slow building of your characters. If Fallout 3 had you as level 20 with all your perks from the start it would take away some of the fun. Maybe you are only going to have some stuff unlocked and you are still going to be able to power yourself up...I hope so...but all the talk I have heard so far acts like you are fully powered up from the start...

From what I understand, you get a lot of stuff at first, but it doesn't last long, and you have to build back up to that status.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

The pre-order DLC incentive is up, as well as an interesting deal if you order from THQ:

Pre-order Saints Row: The Third and receive Professor Genki's Hyper Ordinary Pre-Order Pack absolutely free!

Professor Genki's Hyper Ordinary Pre-Order Pack includes:

Professor Genki’s Super Ballistic Man-a-pult: Cruise Steelport in style with this vacuum-action human-cannonball truck. Suck up pedestrians and use them as live ammunition against the forces of evil, and everyone else.
Professor Genki’s "Octopuss" Weapon: Fire baby octopi onto your enemies’ heads! Watch as the octopi massage their scalps and your enemies fight for you! Enemies can be friends too!
Professor Genki's Leisure Stunt Suit: The ultimate in comfort and tight-fitting apparel, the Genki Leisure Stunt Suit is perfect for skydiving over Steelport or to wear while ejecting from high-flying fighter jets. Free Genki mask included!

But wait! That’s not all! In North America, for a limited time only, the first 3,000 players to purchase Saints Row: The Third from the THQ Online Store on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC or Steam will receive the Saints Row Season Pass absolutely free. The pass, "valued at more than $20," will grant access to three downloadable mission packs.

That's a solid deal but I'm going to have to pass. That Genki stuff looks fun but not really my cup of tea.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

Volition has announced that Hulk Hogan will join the cast of Saints Row: The Third.

The wrestling legend will be joined by former porn star Sasha Grey, who recently appeared in Entourage and Steven Soderberg's The Girlfriend Experience.

Hogan will play Angel DeLaMuerte, a wrestler who teams up with the Saints in seeking revenge against an ex-tag team partner. Meanwhile, Grey will play one of the game's main antagonists as one of two sisters who run the Syndicate Empire.

Daniel Dae Kim, star of Lost, will reprise his role as Johnny Gat, the chief lieutenant of the Third Street Saints from Saints Row 2.

So, we'll have a Latino character, brother, voiced by Hulk Hogan, and an ex-porn star whom displays emotions only when she has the dildo bat shoved up her butt.

So the only way to get the human vaccum thing is to pre-order from THQ? Or does that just get it early for you?
