My top 3 games this year...
1:Skyrim
2:Portal 2
3:Saints 3
if you judge a game on how much fun you have...I have to put this in my top 3...Portal 2 jumps up high because of the Co-op...and Skyrim is just amazing...

I'm pretty sure games should ONLY be judged on how much fun you have.

Obviously all tastes are subjective, but from that list, the only one I care about at all is Skyrim. (I don't have a PS3, so any exclusives are sort of N/A, but Batman wasn't for me and I never liked GoW.)
If I hit Wikipedia for 360 games released in US in 2011, my top 3 in no order would be Dragon Age II (yes, different from DA 1, but I actually liked some things better in II), Skyrim, and Saints Row. There are a few 2011 releases I haven't gotten to play yet, but while SR isn't perfect, it is just fun. And I'm not real good, but so far the difficulty has been pretty balanced/accessible.
I don't think it's been a pathetic year, there have been some outstanding titles, but for me, SR is up there so far. I've got about 13 hours on the clock and 40-some percent.

Pretty much my point. It's all just my opinion but I thought it was pretty weak. No Mass Effect or Fallout games really hurt.

and yet every review seems to put equal weight on graphics and sound...fun factor seems to be forgotten at times. I could nitpick Saints down to an 8 out of 10 easy....but that would take away from the fun I had with this game....

1. Deus Ex: Human Revolution
2. Skyrim (very close to the top)
3. Batman: Arkham City
4. Dead Island
5. NCAA 12
6. Fable III
7. NHL 12
8. Saints Row: The Third
9. WWE 12
10. LA Noire
Keep in mind I haven't played Gears 3, Uncharted 3, Assassin's Creed Revelations, Rocksmith, Ratchet and Clank All 4 One, Rayman Origins, and a few others that people will have in their top 10.

I thought Mass Effect 2 was overrated actually.

It doesn't count if they are in 'attack mode', or if you have any gang notoriety stars. You have to do it when they are strolling around minding their own business. Of course, taunting them puts them into attack mode. What I did is I went to a place where they were spawning in front of a store I owned, then I'd taunt them, run into my store to clear the notoriety, then run back out and taunt another one and so on.

Saints Row 3 was the first game in awhile that got me to stick it through and get the Platinum. I was getting close on Uncharted 3 but Saints Row 3 swooped in and grabbed that attention right away from it. Hell, I have only put in a few hours with Skyrim and just barely started on NBA 2K12 and Rayman while buying them all on the same days as SR3.

You can also taunt your own gang members.

Re: Saints Row: The Third
I was talking with my wife and she said "I don't like your new game as much as the other one." To clarify, she doesn't like playing any games really. The new game is SR3, and the old one is GTA4. She said that she thinks that everything revolves around sex too much in SR3 while the other one was primarily violence. In the end to me it's all fiction and therefore just about all the same. I'm not bothered by sex or violence in fiction so it doesn't matter. I had never considered that there was more or less sex in this game than others. Then she started rattling off things that she had seen while I was playing (the big dude naked, my character naked, the autotune guy in the sex club, the mission trying to steal the prostitutes from the rival gang... I have to admit that the list is longer than I had considered... but I think there was a fair amount of sexual content in GTA4. There are prostitutes running around, there are pimp missions (I think), and so forth. It's a good thing that I don't play GTA: San Andreas for missions any more or she may have seen the dating, gimp outfit, dildo weapon, etc... I haven't once used the dildo weapon in SR3, so she hasn't seen that at all! She would probably have a fit.
Anyway, how do you deal with variances between you and your significant other when it comes to issues of perceived morality? Again, from my perspective, sexual content and violence are the same as it is all fiction, there is no moral or immoral effect on me. But for her there is, and I have to respect that to some degree. In the end it means that I get slightly less play time, as I can only really play this game while she is off doing something else.
(Oh yeah, she was getting ready to go to bed on Saturday night and asked if I was going to go to sleep or stay up and "play your game", to which I responded "if I were going to stay up to play, would you change your mind about going to bed?" to which she replied "maybe.")
In the end, she doesn't want me to stop playing the game, she just doesn't want me to play it around her, and I'm ok with that.

You should tell her that there's more sex in GTA4 than in SR3. Since there's no sex in SR3. Blurred nudity does not equal sex. In GTA4 you sleep with hookers and get really creepy lap dances.

The only thing I do is hide the Penetrator when my daughter is in the room. Nothing else, including the blurred out naked game characters, is nothing that can't be seen on cable tv. Pimps and gimps are natural occurrences in daily life.

dsa_shea, hiding sexual images from your daughter is the right thing to do. But, C-Mart, if your wife can't handle it, you might have married the wrong woman.

Re: Saints Row: The Third
The funny part is that she not only watches, but is the chooser to watch shows like Weeds, Entourage, and True Blood, all of which have a plethora of sexual activity in them. Granted, she is visibly disturbed by it, but that doesn't stop her from watching the show.
That is true. I've never gone to the strip clubs while she is in the room though. I've finished that game and when I play now I just run around and shoot people, etc...

I still don't understand why horrific violence is okay, but a digital booby is the most vile thing ever. Not referring to your wife specifically, just overall.

I think the gas powered sex machines animated with dildos and fists might be something worth hiding as well...lol

Re: Saints Row: The Third
Violence is another story...with the exception of controlled violence like football and boxing....game violence would never be ok in the real world. No matter what some tell you, a kid playing call of duty is not going to go to school and shoot everyone for real(unless there are other REAL problems to begin with) Being exposed to game or movie violence is not going to lead to an increase in crime...but I guess you could say that exposure to massive amounts of sexual stuff might lead to higher teen sex..or at least that is the impression a parent might have...(I have seen no evidence to back that up)
