Re: Saints Row: The Third

I was finally able to finish this game off and get the Platinum. My advice on the assassinations and stealing cars is to try and find those that are in the area that you are already in to not be driving back and forth across the map. Also, there are a few car thefts that are damn near impossible without the forgiveness calls you get towards the end of the game. You get a number for gang forgiveness, one for the cops and one from the mayor that forgives them all. These abilities reset slowly over time so use them when needed.

Also, when you get the Vtol be sure to aim that sucker straight for the sky and enable the flight mode. It is scary how high you can get in this game.

I was playing tonight and one of the most fun things I did was get unlimited satchel charges and no damage to bullets, fires or explosions. Unbelievable mayhem. It was like playing as a superhero, walking in slow mo watching everything around me blow to pieces.

I still can't get enough of the photo ops - they get so excited to see you then when I do my Elvis dance after they go nuts - I like causing all kinds of chaos around me then I have them snap the photo - shit gets me every time.

This game is so stupid. If you haven't bought the shark o' matic gun yet - I highly recommend it....it even comes complete with a shark hat.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

I didn't get the chance to play last night, and then I missed my alarm this morning, so where I usually have about an hour of free time before I have to go to work, I didn't have any! Grrr. I'll probably stay up late tonight playing after the wife goes to bed though. My trigger finger is itching! (I also get to go shooting for real on Friday so this is going to be a good weekend!)

Quick question, are there hidden jumps to find? I've only seen ramps at the airport really. I have found a couple of the barnstorming locations, so I figure there have to be jumps as well... but they hide them well compared to GTA4!

Yes, there are several jumps around. I haven't done any of the barnstorming despite getting all of the trophies. I will likely look for them as I really enjoy playing this.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

I haven't been able to do any jumps, and I probably won't 100% this (I never do) but so far this is just fun. I've been right-sticking people all over the place (love the

.
I'm about 30% through with the story, which worried me, but I've spend about the last five hours working on challenges and just wreaking general havoc. The combination of Dieter's hunt for an Emu works well with Oleg's challenge.

Just had an extremely tense high speed chase. I was chasing an Emu with a Knoxville (golf cart type thing). We must have been going, oh, all of 30 MPH. Fun stuff.

If you go streaking, make sure to listen to everybody - everybody's a smartass.

Can homies die permanently? I called Oleg in and I think he got whacked, and now his name is blacked out of my phone. I hope he's just not rested up yet.

When you call any of your friends for a favor or to help you in battle then they get blacked out for a bit and you have to play awhile for them to reset.

I also love this game...it takes a lot longer to get going than 2...but once it does...the laughter and fun factor is out of this world...

Re: Saints Row: The Third

I finished all the activities and strongholds. I still have to find the cars but I'm not entirely enthused to do it. Oh and I guess I can't finish the challenges because there's no more gang members left?

There are still gang members around. Also, if you take the calls to your cell you will likely have to confront a gang and get the necessary kills. What exactly are you needing to do?

Good to know. I need 2 more Deckers specialists killed and need to taunt a whole lot more as well.

The best bet for the taunt is to do it close to a store you own so that you can taunt them then run in the store to lose your gang wanted level. The taunts only count if the gang is not being aggressive towards you.

I've been playing more, doing activities, and yeah it's gotten more fun. I have no intention of doing Snatch, and Escort, though. Totally boring.

Snatch and Escort get pretty crazy during the higher difficulty ones.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

I called one of my homies to bring a chopper in, and he just flew above me and never landed. I thought it was because I had the cops on me, so I lost them. He still hovered above.

Eventually I just kept shooting him, and he flew away. Of course there's a cooldown to call him again.

Total bullshit.

If there's no place to land then they won't land.

I thought of that, too, because there was the elevated track above me.

But then I moved out of the way, into a big open area.

Still nothing.

I always have the RC Possessor with me...when I call in a Helicopter or jet...I don't wait for my idiot gang member to find a place to land, I hit it with the rc...land it myself and get in...

Finished this today. 100% on everything except the challenges (which I'll probably never 100%). A little over 32 hours. Game of the year.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

Game of the year?

It's better than I gave it credit for, sure, but I wouldn't even put it in the top 5 games of the year.

Anyway, I broke down and finished all the activities for the achievements. I don't think I'll play through it again when I finish it. Right now, I just finished the mission where you steal

the learning computer
and it says I am 77% done.

I probably won't finish the challenges either, nor will I play for 30 hours. I can't figure out why I am not getting credit for taunting gang members though.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

I'd put it in top 5. It's been a pretty pathetic year.
