Better yet.... what's this "single-player campaign" business that keeps getting mentioned?

I'm not even sure I finished the single player in Battlefield Bad Company 2...think I did though...something on an airplane. My recollection is that it was a very linear and scripted affair that was almost redeemed by endearing characters but not quite. It was wholly forgettable other than destructible environments, and I couldn't be bothered to play it after the first time through.

But the multi-player was god-like with huge environments, buildings collapsing, tanks rumbling, dunebuggies motherfucker, medics reviving, engineers gustaving, choppers sploding, craters appearing, everyone spotting, and wookie dogtags for everyone (omnomnomnomnom)!!!!

Praying this game has spotting, dogtags and wookies.

Re: Battlefield 3

Definitely seen dogtags.

I didn't see a wookie suit on either side's recon class.

Spotting was available in the beta and with so many of the reviews pointing out the similarities in play on BFBC2 I figure they would point out such a glaring change.

All 3 were in the beta - should not be an issue.

When you're playing non-hardcore, if you aim your sights at someone and then tap select (PS3) or back (Xbox360) an orange arrow will appear above the enemy and their position is highlighted on your mini-map. Throwing out recon wiffle balls does the same thing.

Re: Battlefield 3

Yep...I love spotting, and I do it constantly.

If you see a dude in the distance, before you start taking low percentage shots at him and give away your own position, you just spot him. Odds are that some teammate is closer and will take him out.

Yes, you get points for it, and yes, it's extremely gratifying.

Can't wait to see how it looks/works in the night level!

I don't think it will be any different than the one night Rush level on BFBC2. Also, ghillie suits are out so no wookies, per se.

Anyone hanging out way off the side, providing no particular value will forever and always be a "wookie"

Re: Battlefield 3

No wookies is bullshit. They had to have known that was a bit of a meme among their fans. But I am extremely gratified to hear that the spotting mechanic is still in tact.

2 other questions:

Can you still spawn on teammates?
Is it still 4-man squads with limited communication?

I think night will look different. The new engine is doing some crazy stuff with lighting, and I don't think lack thereof will be much different.

I'm mostly liking what they did with the classes with the recon and engineer staying mostly the same but the medic and assault basically swapping weapons (and the assault name). The medic was clearly overpowered in BFBC2 and was a complete points whore. I'm honestly not sure which one I'll use more between the new Assault-medic and the Support guy who's carrying the guns I've grown accustomed to. Not even sure I remember how to reload!

Yikes, 360 users better install those texture packs. That's what happens when Microsoft doesn't make the hard drive standard.

That's pretty pathetic.

That's pretty awesome that they put the textures on a second disc as opposed to making us console users play a piece of crap though. Bravo to them.

Re: Battlefield 3

Squad management on the PS3 appears to still be broken. Made a squad with Yaw... joined a game... ended up on opposite teams.

GameTrailers video review (9.2)

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YTfKI1CYAng" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

They seem to agree with the other reviews. Multiplayer is awesome. Singleplayer is short, glitchy and ho-hum.

Interesting that they said the single-player campaign is the best in the series history yet it doesn't look as entertaining as the single-player campaign of BC2.

Re: Battlefield 3

Wow, I can't believe how bad the 360 version looks without the texture pack. Likewise I'm impressed with the quality when the texture pack is installed.

I can't wait to pick this up after work today. I never preordered, I'm just going to get a box copy since it is easier to install on my second hard drive. SSD is getting filed up and whenever I download a game it seems almost impossible to get it on my other drive.

Sad I missed out on Back to Karkand though. Anyone know if this will be available for purchase day one or when it will be available?

Go to redeem code Menu choice under account in the main XMB and enter the code from the game insert. Once you've done that and installed the 100kb key you're good to go. Same thing happened to my nephew last night.

It's all the limited edition for the first press, so you should be good for at least a couple of weeks

It is? I thought it was an all new Frostbite 2 engine?

Good to know! I can't wait to get out of work. Too bad I'll have to work until 7 today.

I've read the system specs were way overblown before release. I suspected as much when I didn't even realize I wasn't in SLI mode while playing Caspian during the Beta on ultra settings. A single GTX 570 runs it on ultra (granted along with a 4.5 ghz 2600k). I've been reading this game will run well on some pretty old computers.
