The Kmart guys on CAG had said ahead of time that only 1/4 of their initial shipment would be LE versions (with the bonus maps), so just be careful and make sure you pick up the right version at the store.

At my local Kmart they only got 1 copy of the Limited Edition on the PS3. I watched the lady go through the entire box and all of the copies to find the one copy.

My Kmart had 15+ of the LE.
How is the MP? With all the bitchign around here regarding the beta (myself included), is it actually fun?

They had quite a few of the LE for the 360 but I got the only copy the lady could find of it on PS3 and I was there not long after they opened.

I think K-Mart only stocks PC games that are big PC exclusives (stuff like StarCraft).

Not impressed at all with the multiplayer. Bad spawning, and I mean people literally spawn right next to you about 2 feet away, lag issues, can't connect half the time, etc... Looks like this one's gonna be for sale.

I'm starting to think maybe the late summer was better than this fall, I really liked Dead Island and Deus Ex. I guess we'll see.

Yep. This fall is starting to shape up for me to be the most dissapointing over hyped period of gaming I've experienced. It started with Gears 3 which I really liked but it all went down hill fast after that. Rage was a big downer, Batman is pretty good but nowhere near the 10s its been getting. Now after playing Battlefield for several hours its just ok. Hopefully Skyrim, COD, and Assassin's Creed can change the tide.

...my son has been trying to connect to a Battlefield game for 20 minutes now to no avail...nice.

EA has already pissed me off with this game. I bought the retail copy of the game so I could easily install it on my other drive, but also so I wouldn't have to download any huge files. Well, what is the first thing I have to do to begin the installation of my retail copy? Wait for an 11GB download. WTF? Why can't they put everything on the discs???
The same shit happened with Shogun 2. Had to wait hours for Steam to download the ENTIRE GAME even though I was installing from a disc.
Mercifully, EA seems to have some monster servers because the download rate is 12 MB/sec!!! Never seen DL speeds like that ever.
EDIT: I may have been hasty. The download speed was only so fast because I'm pretty sure it was writing from the disc, even though Origin was showing it as a download. Confusing to say the least...

Yeah, at least I have the $20 credit from Amazon.
I'll give it a couple more days, but if it's still impossible (or very hit and miss) to connect, it's gone.
Sort of reminded pretty quickly why I've quit playing games in general...

It always amazes me how a company like EA can release, I don't know, 10 really high profile multilayer games a year, and the servers can never handle the day one load. You would think, after all the years they've had to observe these problems, they would be able to have a clean launch by now, the year 2011.

Re: Battlefield 3
Exactly. It was annoying years ago. Now it's just unacceptable. And yeah, never pre-ordering an EA game again. This shit's souring me on video games in general, might just push me over the edge to sell my Xbox.

Re: Battlefield 3
MW3, Assassin's Creed, & Skyrim will fix those thoughts, then (hopefully) Bioshock.

Im a COD guy, but I figured I'd give it a shot since everyone says how great the multiplayer is. I haven't been able to connect the entire night. What a complete clusterfuck of a release on EA's part.

Re: Battlefield 3
When you say you can't connect, is it when you first select multiplayer, or when you can select which server you want to play on? I couldn't do multiplayer at first either til I realized I had to go into the store and download that stupid EA online pass. They didn't make that part clear in instructions. I was selecting multiplayer and it was telling me the online pass was not valid even though it never prompted me to enter it. I had to go the ps store and do it manually.

Connected to multiplayer no problem on PS3. Enjoying the campaign so far.

Re: Battlefield 3
I understand the frustration, but holy shit when you guys do get up and running you will love this game.
I've only played a couple games, but it is really well done - and oddly quite a bit different than the beta. Controls much more like BC2 to me, much faster.
The destruction is all here as promised. The facades of large multilevel structures and storefronts can be blown to bits in the Grand Bazaar map. Very cool to have destruction in these dense urban areas.
And the graphics and sound are obviously first rate.
