Re: Battlefield 3
I've only had a few minor connection issues so far. Played for an hour tonight and no one was using their mic. It sucks.
What's with the interface. When capturing a flag the big round circle stays in your aiming circle blocking your vision. I wish they moved it to the top. Besides that I've been having a blast. Oh and can't fly a plane yet.

I'm not much of an online player and my order didn't arrive today like it was supposed to. I'm seriously considering sending it back to amazon instead of opening it. I'll have free return shipping since it didn't arrive when scheduled to.
Any suggestions one way or the other? The negatives were out earlier, now it seems people are enjoying it.

Played tonight for 2 hours. I've never really played a Battlefield game, so it took me a second to get used to it. Holy shit, when a wall blew up behind me...that was fantastic.

Re: Battlefield 3
The single player campaign was a major disappointment. Took me 6 hours on Normal. It was more frustrating than enjoyable. Lots of cheap deaths. I felt like a bullet magnet. And all the enemies were snipers, taking me out with one bullet from across the room.
Who the hell thought it was a good idea to fill the game with quick-time events? That was really annoying.
And for all the hype about amazing graphics, half the levels were in extremely dark environments. I couldn't see most of the guys that were shooting at me. I got sick of firing at flashlights and red dots.
Lots of reviewers compared it to COD. But this game felt more like the recent Medal Of Honor. Too short, some glitches, bad AI, forgettable storyline, worthless teammates and enemies with aim-assist.
Anyways, I'll get my money's worth out of the multiplayer. But if anyone is buying this for the single player, You should wait until it hits the $20 bin.

Been playing it for almost 15 hours straight. I have the PC version, and I haven't been getting the same connection errors... are you guys on consoles?
The game is first rate. The squad-based gameplay really works; you're not shoehorned like BF2, but unit roles really do matter.

Re: Battlefield 3
Most folks missed the boat on Battlefield Bad Company 2, unfortunately, but it had the destruction element as well and is an amazing multiplayer game.
Non-BF players would probably dismiss the destruction as just aesthetic eye-candy that doesn't do anything in the core game, but they'd be dead wrong. The destruction actually makes the battlefield fluid and dynamic. You might have a great shooting position behind cover one minute and be jumping out of a collapsing building the next.

) fine. I'll give it a try again today, hopefully they get shit worked out.Tried flying the Russian jet (is it a MIG?)...I was fine out in the wide open, but as soon as I tried aiming I lost control and just turned into a kamikaze.

What's your username? Looking to add PC players.
I only got to play for an hour or two, but I got to see most of the maps. I love this game. All of the maps are awesome - and Kharg valley, oh man. I am amazed that you can play 64 players on ALL the maps - even the smaller ones. On a couple of the maps, I could just randomly shoot a rocket and half the time I would get a kill there were so many players.
The single player is awful, didn't even bother playing past the first mission where enemies were literally spawning out of thin air in plain sight - I have no interest in playing that kind of game. The visuals were very nice though. But most impressive is that the MP visuals are not much worse. This game is the closest thing to photo real that I've ever played.

I woke up early to try it out again.... after maybe 10 minutes of tapping A through "failed to connect to EA server," I finally got into a game... only to be dropped 15 minutes later.
I'm not sure why DICE has to completely redo the interface elements (flag status, indicators, gun and ammo, etc). I find it an unnecessary learning curve coming from other BF games.
The game played fine thought he night map I was on was just annoyingly dark and touch without any scope upgrades. I did manage to rank up twice during that half-match, but who knows if it took since I was booted.
Anyways... EA... fuck you.

Haha, I guess now we know why Amazon added that $20 credit on at the last minute. They knocked it down to $10 since then. Since I bought this for the campaign mostly and the multiplayer as a plus it sounds like I’m going to be disappointed. Oh well. Worst case I can download the LE stuff and then sell it off for the $40 that it ended up costing me. It’s really disappointing that the game ended up this way after seeing all the E3 game play videos and I loved the campaign on BC2 This and Uncharted were my most anticipated games this fall. Hopefully Uncharted still delivers.

Just wanted to take a quick second to remind people who pre-ordered BF3 through Amazon that the $20 credit has to be used by October 31.

A couple hours into the single-player campaign, and yeah, while they've obviously put a lot of effort into it, there's something off about it and it just doesn't click. Almost like they've put too much effort into it and it's too rigid or something. But I do have to say (with the HD textures installed), it looks friggin' amazing on the 360 - although, Crysis2 still looks a little better, and that required no texture-install - even though I installed the whole game to the 360 to get it to run better... so whatever.

Re: Battlefield 3
I was able to get about an hour or so in on this last night once the servers came back online.
As previously mentioned, for someone used to playing COD I thought the destructible environments were pretty cool. Loved being able to blow a hole in the side of a building and taking out a sniper in the process. I also like the spotting feature, which I used as much as possible since my accuracy usually blows in these games until I get used to them.
From now on I'll probably be playing as much as possible with people I know, since no one seems to bother to use a mic. The only ones that do tend to be pre-pubescent teens doing nothing of value other than being completely intolerable.

Re: Battlefield 3
Every time I ended up in a squad of randoms I would make sure to tell whomever the leader was to mark objectives so we could all earn more points. I was surprised how few people knew about it. This would be in squads where no one was talking, but, once I started talking, others that had mics but were just not using them started speaking.
I would suggest if you enter a quiet group to ask a couple of times if anyone has a mic. Other people, notably Spatula will still announce his intentions so that if they have no mic but are listening, they can still coordinate some.

Re: Battlefield 3
Got this loaded up on the PC last night. Looks really good to my eyes - got things pretty much maxed out on my GTX 560 TI. A little bit of tearing here and there.
I only played a couple hours but it feels like BF2 to me which is a good thing. I have to re-learn some of the commands and controls. I used to play sniper all the time in BF2 but now with the addition of having to steady the rifle (holding your breath), I probably won't be as good for a while.
If anyone else in here is on the PC version let me know if you find any good servers.
