Re: Battlefield 3

So this is weird. Some people who already preordered the game at Amazon are getting a $20 credit but it’s not showing up if you go to preorder it now. Maybe they are trying to get people to keep their preorders as well?

"Dear Amazon.com Customer,

Customers who have shown an interest in action games might like to know about "Battlefield 3 - Limited Edition," which releases on October 25.

Pre-order for Xbox 360 or PS3 to receive a $20 promotional credit. All pre-orders come with Limited Edition content including the Back to Karkand expansion pack as well as the multiplayer Dog Tag Pack, an Amazon exclusive."

Yeah. Sign up for the SYWR program. Make sure they take your card (or your phone number) at check out. If they do not, the coupons will not print. It's easy to sign up and KMart really has been the king of video game deals lately.... if you can stomach a trip to the damn place.

I pre-ordered from Amazon weeks ago and haven't gotten anything like this. How do I get it?!

Pre-loading is a PC thing... as for the credit, I don't know.

Re: Battlefield 3

Haha, well the credit thing over at Amazon sounds like a clusterfuck. A ton of reps are telling customers it’s only if you preordered the game yesterday between 6pm and midnight. Others are saying it was only a select few that received an e mail offer. There is a whole discussion forum over there full of responses. So yeah, sounds like the $20 credit thing might not be popping up after all.

Both fro me and a few people. Oboiusly there are advocates for both games. Surprisingly the PS3 version of the Hardened edition of MW3 has sold out before the 360 version - dunno if there were more 360 versions available for preorder.

$20 gift card promo is up on Amazon. I did not receive any notification that my old order qualified, so I canceled it and re-ordered just in case.

Looks like I'm covered then, nice.

They run these promos every once in a while and it's been a sweet way to get games at great prices. I remember last spring buying Super Mario Galaxy 2 ($49) and getting $20 off my next game. Used that on Metroid: Other M ($29) that summer which got me $20 off my next game and used that on The New Super Mario Bros. ($19) at Christmastime.

Will mention that I also got free release-day shipping. Not sure if that's because I'm an Amazon Prime member or because I was using Amazon Student for a while (free rds is part of how they promo that for college students) or now that we have Amazon Mom or what. Not going to question it.

Nic and I ordered tonight too...I got the $20 free credit and free release day shipping because of Amazon Student Prime, but the credit wasn't offered when he ordered like an hour before me, so he canceled and reordered...then he got the $20 credit.

Yeah, I saw it was extended to previous preorders, but canceling and reordering took about 30 seconds. Worth it just to be sure.

This is one reason why I order my games from Amazon instead of GS. I used my $20 credit I got from Gears 3 to pre-order this. Now I'll have $20 to go to either COD or Halo....Nice!

Re: Battlefield 3

Not too worried about it, Slider, as Amazon customer service guys are amazing. They're always friendly, always helpful, so if it doesn't show up in 48 hours I know who to call.

+1

Amazon CS is awesome. Earlier today I sent an email asking about the credit. The guy put a $20 credit on my account. I sent another email asking if the credit could be applied to my existing COD pre-order, and they did it. That's why I order everything from Amazon.

Re: Battlefield 3

Taking a second look at the $20 promotional credit, it's even better than my past experiences when earning credit with a video game purchase. In the past, the credit's only been good on future game purchases. This time around, it appears to be for practically anything on Amazon. Now that's cool! Considering we buy pretty much everything from Amazon (heck, we even have grocery subscriptions), that's an excellent, excellent deal!

Re: Battlefield 3

I didn't automatically get the credit...or at least I don't see it. Sent them a note.

Funny thing is that I place the preorder 3-4 months ago with the assumption that this would happen.

Video above convinced me to keep the preoder.

Re: Battlefield 3

a good companion to the video above, this article describes all of the multiplayer maps. I guess the biggest map in BF 3 will be three times the size of atacama desert!!

http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/10/17/ba...maps-revealed/

Gonna go preorder this finally to get the back to karkand maps. I want as many as possible!

In my experience, it usually shows up in one's account around 48 hours after the ship date. This is their way of making sure you don't get the credit, use it, then cancel the order and get a free twenty bucks.

Is that Glenn Morshower towards the beginning of the launch trailer, after the EA logo?

If I had to guess that game, I would have said Call Of Duty. It doesn't feel like a Battlefield game.
