only thing i don't like about it is that there is too much DLC. i can understand one or two DLC's since that is where the profit is. but this is ridiculous.
i bought biggest loser but haven't used it yet. thought about your shape but never got to go target.

I'm curious about this game too before I open it. I wonder how it compares to EA Sports Active 2?
EDIT: Here is the link (look in the Electronics section), Target $10 Off Coupon for Your Shape - Credit to CAG

I'm a little surprised at the hate for Kinect Adventures. Anyone going into that game expecting more than a tech demo won't be surprised which is why I guess it doesn't bother me. My kid and I enjoy it for what it is. All of the different mini-games keep my 6 year old interested and even I have spent some extended time with it and didn't hate it. Is it something I want to play all the time? No. But I felt the same way about Wii Sports. Wii Sports was good for what it was, a tech demo but nothing really substantial or something you want to visit over and over. I don't remember seeing that much bitching over it.
And Kinect Adventures is a pretty good way to get your heart rate up if you want to be active without actually doing a whole lot. I was sweating pretty good by the time I had played an hour on it and I'm in pretty good shape.

I like Kinect Adventures. It is a decent pack in game. My wife and I enjoy playing the river rafting together. The reflex ridge obstacle course mini games are alot of fun and will get your heart rate going. Would I have purchased this if it wasn't included with the the Kinect? Probably not, but it is what it is.

She was able to unlock the next highest level but it doesn't sound like it's the type of product where you're going to burn 800 calories like in P90X. For $25, it's worth it.

I would have picked it up without it being included with Kinect but only for 20 bucks or less as it stands now.
My wife and I set up Your Shape last night. We mainly just did the profiles and got it going. It seems to be a great way for beginners to jump into fitness but with my having done P90X (and all it's step-children) half a dozen times and Insanity another half dozen, I don't see this really challenging me as the previous poster said. I did a couple of the gym games and the whole thing looks like it would be a nice, easy second workout in the evening for those who do a hard, serious workout in the morning (or vice versa), which is what I might use it for. Burn a few more calories so I can have extra beer for the evening.

I got a Kinect for Christmas and suddenly my house became the place for all my extended family to visit. Kinect Adventures (specifically the river game and reflex game) were how everyone started. Then we got into Dance Central.
Of the two games, Dance Central is my favorite one to play. I think it is a fun way to work up a light sweat... and look ridiculous while doing so.
We also tried out the demo to Kinect Sports and now my wife wants to get that game. She enjoyed the bowling. I actually need to look up what other mini-games are in the compilation. Are there enough that it seems like a full title or more like Kinect Adventures?

I have Kinect Sports and like it alot. However Boxing and Soccer are lame. Boxing just turns into spaming jab as fast as you can -- no strategy whatsoever. If you play the A.I. you can see what it could have been. The A.I. doesn't just punch as fast as it can. However playing a human opponent, isn't fun at all. Soccer is a little better than the boxing, but you don't have as much freedom as the other sports. The other sports are very good though. Ping Pong and Volleyball are my favs. Kinect Sports is a terrific party game.

Kinect Sports has a lot of variety. A lot more than Kinect Adventures.
I got EA Sports Active 2 and I'm pretty dissapointed. A couple of things it does better than YourShape, like setting up a program. And it has a much better variety of activities. But the motion sensing part barely works. Your onscreen avatar only slightly mimics your motions and many times it doesnt correspond at all to whats actually happening.
It'll tell you to take a water break, and 2 seconds later, it starts into the next exercise without giving you time to even take a swallow.

I got EA Sports Active 2 for my wife and she's enjoying it. She's a gym freak, runs marathons, etc. so she really enjoys the programs, but from what I've seen I agree with all the reviews from here. I mean, it's more like an expert person, she does everything on hard and knows what they are talking about with each exercise, so she's not bothered if her avatar is doing something wrong.

From the "No Shit" files of The Not Actual News Department: http://www.devicemag.com/2011/01/01/...ratched-discs/
Moral of the story is that if you:
1) Don't install your games to the hard drive and
2) Play with your xbox on a trampoline
you may get scratched discs.
Microsoft’s Kinect is a marvelous piece of technology that allows you to be the controller. Trying to find the device during the holiday season was a tough task. The lucky consumers who were fortunate enough to purchase one may be in for an unlucky surprise when they realize their disc ends up scratched within a mere coupe of hours.
For an unlucky gamer playing Kinect Adventures his 360 went from running silently to rumbling to the sound of his disc clattering in his Xbox. Upon ejecting the game he found a scratch around the outside of his disc.
People have been experiencing this problem of scratches around their disc ever since the 360 released. Turning the console while the disc is running is a sure way to accomplish this scratch. How does it happen if your 360 is stationary? Xbox 360′s are made with a relatively cheap disc drive that allows vibration from your feet to move that disc drive ever so slightly. Mix this with Kinect’s constant requirement to move and jump around and you have a scratched disc.
If your 360 is on wooden floors then expect the vibration from your feet to be stronger since carpet somewhat absorbs vibration. There have been over a million reports of this happening since Kinect has released a few short months ago.

Kinect Sports is a lot better than Kinect Adventures in terms of mini-game compilations.
Kinect Sports has a decent amount of content - Track and Field (Hurdles, Sprint, Javelin, Discus Throw and Long Jump), Table Tennis, Bowling, Boxing, Soccer and Beach Volleyball are the "Main" games, but there are a lot of derivations of them as well (Mini-games) which include hitting as many table tennis balls as you can (getting time bonuses for consecutive hits), getting # of strikes in a set ammount of time in bowling, dodging fruit, hitting volleyballs, etc; and then theres Party Mode which is a good deal of fun in a group situation (You have 2 teams competing in I believe 6 rounds of mini-game sports, from guarding goals in soccer to 2 point table tennis matches).
It's fun.
I hated EA Sports Active 2 due to the technical glitches, I'm hoping their "Fix" which is apparently due next month will improve it.

The boxing thing pisses me off because I try to use strategy and my 6 year old beats me every time because he is moving like a seizure filled diabetic monkey on steroids. Soccer is just okay but the rest of the games are lots of fun.
Doing a real jump and spiking the shit out of the volleyball feels very realistic. Ping Pong stuns me at how real it feels without holding a paddle. Only drawback with it is sometimes you hardly have to move your hand sometimes to hit the ball across. Track and Field is fun with several people and bowling feels very accurate though I hit way more strikes on it than in real life.
I definitely recommend Kinect Sports for those who have friends or kids. If you are by yourself I would pass though. It would be okay the first few times but after awhile it would get old without anyone to play with.

I actually nailed my ceiling tiles yesterday and bloodied my hand up pretty good. I'm thinking of moving the Kinect upstairs to our family room so I can actually play with no injuries.

So I took every one's advice here and got Kinect Sports. I like Track & Field and Volleyball is a LOT better than the Move version which is pretty lacking. I thought Soccer was really lame. I didn't mind Boxing against the computer -- I thought it was kinda fun actually. Ping Pong played much better than at Best Buy, but I like the Move version better; I think the tactile sensation of the controller is more immersive. Likewise, the kids love bowling but I just feel it's just too easy to swing your arm. The Move bowling game is probably the best, but this feels better than the Wii version.
I also got Your Shape and tried it out tonight. I'm not one who does that sort of aerobics exercises (I usually just run or use an elliptical and do a few weights at the gym). I got pretty sweaty in my first half hour. I clearly lack rhythm and coordination and keeping in sync with my trainer is tough for me. This won't be a primary focus of my fitness routine, but on days I don't feel like going to the gym or running outside, it might serve a purpose to get me some exercise anyway.
Still not crazy about the Kinect, but those two games at least show me there's some potential beyond the tech-demo mini games and a dance game I have no interest in.

Microsoft "Home"? http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/04/ru...veiled-at-ces/

Glimpse Dog received what it purports to be a snapshot of a leaked slide from Microsoft's CES keynote (seen above) showing off something called, "Avatar Kinect." This by itself isn't all that exciting, but Winrumors believes that Avatar Kinect will be part of a forthcoming software update -- one that "will allow Kinect owners to interact with each other using their avatars" much like Sony's Home.
Furthermore, the site believes that "the avatars will have a separate area, much like the Nintendo's Mii channel, that will allow for users to control them using Kinect and interact to watch content or play games." Does this mean Kinect-based A World of Keflings wrestling matches? 'Cause if so, we're totally on board. Just as long as we don't have to queue for them, that is.
We'll presumably find out more when Microsoft's CES keynote is broadcast live this Wednesday from Las Vegas.

I'll be at CES this weekend. Hopefully it'll be interesting. A few years ago I went there and it was super-disappointing, though I did get my first look at HD-DVD vs Blu Ray, checked out a mock-up PS3 prototype complete with batarang and got to see Stevie Wonder checking out the Sony HDTVs, which I found pretty funny.
