Re: Official Kinect Discussion Thread: Look Ma! No games! Part I

Thanks to me being lazy recently with my Kinect and NetFlix my almost 2 year old son things that if he yells the words XBOX, play and pause at the TV his shows will magically start up. His words are a little sloppy so it's cute now but it's gonna be real annoying when he starts speaking clearly and it takes me 2 hours to finish watching an episode of American Dad.

Gunstringer comes with a 2-day gold pass so it's free for everyone now, or wait until it releases to silver members in a few days. At least before calling everyone at twisted pixel an asshole for having free launch day DLC.

See, I'd call ISPs assholes for arbitrarily restricting bandwidth, but that's me.

You've waited for it, you've prayed for it. You bided your time. Now it's finally here -- the add-on you all demanded.

Shortly after I got a PS3 and discovered gamesharing, I got a letter from Cox informing me that I had gone over the limit (which no one ever mentioned when we signed up for service or during the various times we changed tiers). I don't think people need to worry about going digital distribution only if ISP's have anything to say about it.

Re: Official Kinect Discussion Thread: Look Ma! No games! Part I

Wow, biggest Kinect release date in a year and nobody is bumping this thread but the notorious Kinect hater, me? Oh well. Got sequels to the only Kinect games I thought were worth a damn until Child of Eden : Dance Central 2 and Kinect Sports Season Two.

My copy of DC2 comes with 240 MS points, which is a nice bonus -- not sure if that's with all copies or not. We really needed the 2-player mode in my house and for that reason, glad I've picked this up now. There's tons of DC DLC currently on sale, but I'm not sure how well it integrates into the new system, so will check that out before dropping $20 on that content.

Haven't heard really anything about Kinect Sports Season Two. It comes with a free month of Live Gold and "Football Avatar Pack", BTW. Games involved are Football, Skiing, Baseball, Darts, Golf and Tennis. Sounds like a better mix this time. Hope none of them are Soccer-like duds. Reviews are just beginning to trickle in now. I've read a couple that complain that it's too focused on American sports. We'll decide what's important and you Brits and Aussies will just have to deal with it! I'll post some impressions once I get a chance to give it a go.

I picked up the Sesame Street game and Kinect Sports S2 for the kids -- but I'm holding out for Xmas.

Re: Official Kinect Discussion Thread: Look Ma! No games! Part I

I saw the Sesame Street game in a big, deep cardboard box at TRU in the locked display case, but I'm pretty sure that it was in a standard purple case when I was it at Target. Is there some sort of TRU-exclusive bundled item with the game or did I just not see the other box correctly?

Re: Official Kinect Discussion Thread: Look Ma! No games! Part I

Just a week earlier and I would have been all over those two in the TRU sale. As it is, I picked up the Sesame Street game with two other $60 games, which meant not maximizing the deal. I can wait on these, as I haven't even 'finished' the first games...

I have that one preordered from New Egg for $38. Kind of wish I could see a review before it ships. This is exactly the sort of game that could be great or could be a total disaster.

That reminds me : Disney Universe came out yesterday. That was supposed to be a big title, but its gotten almost no press and when last I looked it had zero reviews online. If nothing else, they've sure copied LBP's never-ending costume DLC microtransation business model.

Finally got my Kinect and picked up both Dance Central games with the Kmart deal. The DLC sale on the Marathon packs are pretty enticing.

Amazon ratings are pretty bad for that thing. They talked about it on Giant Bomb's podcast the other day and it sounds like for many it just flat out doesn't work or loses a lot of fidelity and the ability to track fine movements.

I picked that one up. Surprisingly Kmart had no offers attached to it and like you mentioned, zero hype anywhere on the web.

I picked another copy of this up in the B2G1F at Target this week (which is a fantastic way to pick up the new Kinect games) as a present, and what the TRU version comes with is some kind of marker you place on the ground to tell the kids how far to stand back. I don't know if that's a TRU exclusive, but my TRU one came with one and my Target one did not.

Wow.. didn't even know KS2 was out... just been playing the demo. I didn't care for the tennis, but I understand the need to move the camera like such. 2 of those sports are certainly American, but to say that darts, tennis, skiing and golf are is stupid.

I'll have to look around for deals...

Just played through some DC2, not a huge fan of some of the earlier songs but it's a fun game and as good a workout as ever.

The Disneyland game is fun. I hope they do a Disney World one. Or other Disneylands like Paris or Tokyo.

^ I'm holding out on a Disneyland demo. I tried out Disney Universe last night and wasn't too impressed. My daughter liked it though.

We also tried out the Rabbids Kinect game. That was fun, well the wack-a-rabbid and air guitar were. We couldn't figure out the third game in the demo. We got a kick out of the "augmented reality" setup, especially during wack-a-rabbid. Cool idea.
