Man, this game is HUGE. Can someone please explain to me why RAGE requires three 360 discs when this game uses only one?

There's only one dog worth getting: Barbas!

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -- November 2011

I rented it this weekend and had fun. Got to lvl 8, but man how do you kill Trolls? I encountered 2, both saw me before I realized what they were, I got 3-4 frit hits and could not tell he took damage. Is there a way to tell if things are friend or foe from a distance? I would attack things that would end up being "friendly" and walk up on bad guys (the frost mages at an old fort).

If they attack you...they are bad..lol

Actually if they are on alert they should show up as red dots at the top of your screen on the direction bar...I usually wait until humans attack me before I risk the attack, but when it comes to animals I shred them on the spot..even bunnies...

Mage guild line was the weakest so far of the guilds...and I only have the brotherhood left...while it at least ends better than the thieves guild...it was not as strong overall...and GOD DAMN that was a long dungeon halfway into the mage story...lol

Don't worry...at least you saved the best for last. I did it first, like the fool I am.

Whoa, I just saw a headless horseman ghost galloping down the road at night near Whiterun. I tried to chase it and see if it would interact with me but it ran away and disappear before I could get near.

I've encountered him twice now. Both times unable to catch him. Was never on a horse maybe that's what you need to do in order to interact with him?

40 hrs in and still blown away how big this game world is and the sights to see are amazing. I used fast travel a few times early on but with all the great random encounters and beautiful scenery i"m going everywhere on foot.

When you are playing a stealth archer it is kind of bad to wait until you are seen for you to decide if they are friend or foe.

I'm getting much more comfortable with the game. It feels I actually know what I'm doing. Up into this weekend I didn't know I could even "favorite" anything.

I am loving the game!

When it comes to "people" I am unsure about I encounter in sneak mode, I always save first before they see me, come out of sneak and check their reaction, and if they attack I reload and shoot first.

Yeah..this is what I end up doing if I can't tell from their look. It kind of bums me out that it grooms you to have to "shoot first" for that particular type of playstyle though. Luckily for us only about 1% of the people you encounter don't actually want you dead.

In the wild I'm a shoot first and ask questions later kind of Nord. I hate walking past someone only to have them turn out to be a bandit or assassin.

More than once I've seen somebody running straight towards me, sword drawn...I quickly draw my bow...and...shoot my follower (who fell off the road and found their way back to me via some weird pathing).

Trolls regen health, you have to kill him with fire.

I've heard horror stories of Barbas shoving you off of cliffs or into fires heh.

Might not be worth the trouble

I still can't figure how to tell if I am diseased or what. There is nothing listed under magic effects. It seems like the only way I can tell is by looking at all of my skills and seeing if any are red. The problem comes when I don’t go to the Skills screen for a while because I’m not ready to level up. Yesterday I finally leveled up and noticed my one handed was in red at 15! What the fuck! I haven’t had the time to hit a church since I discovered it. I’m hoping that will “cure” it.

Me too, you just never know. In fact I had a encounter with a 'mage', they were friendly..but then I lock picked their cellar, found some stuff downstairs..then they attacked me because I knew too much (I didn't even have a chance to kill them as Farkas took them down real quick)

I just check my active effect part under Magic and it always tells me what I have...keep some cure disease potions on hand...cures everything but vamp/wolf...

Apparently you can also tell by people making comments to you about you looking not well

Does anyone have good directions on getting to the group of bandits that have the first treasure map?

This has happened to me a number of times. The only jump scare moments I've had in this game have been accidental ones caused by my followers. The best was getting separated in a dark and ominous dungeon, opening a door in sneak mode, and having a large Nordic lady wielding a warhammer standing directly above me on the other side. Luckily she was on my team, though I still don't know how she got ahead of me through closed doors.
