Re: Mass Effect 3
Are credits those things that scroll by in the background when I'm doing something else while waiting on the inevitable after-credits sequence?
You're told pretty clearly when the point of no return is reached, and you're given a chance to say "Wait, I know the galaxy is on the verge of collapse, but an elcor needs me to find a book first."

The one thing I have to say
but the one thing that I was not prepared for, even with all the spoilers out there...not one person talked about

Spoilers are unnecessary after a game comes out. It's a battle I've fought for years. If you come into the thread, you need to be willing to accept the consequences. Two threads solves all but it never happens.

Also I am about 3/4ths done with my second run...at this point I think I would rate the 3 games.

I'd rate them 1>2>3 easily.

No need for two threads, it's not hard to type or even use the button provided to make spoiler tags. God forbid it should cost you a few extra micro seconds to do so.

And we're in the loop again. It's not about the time it takes, it's about how the thread looks when everything is hidden and people are quoting spoilers and replying with spoilers. It's just stupid and only protects those that can't protect themselves with a little restraint.

Mass Effect 3 Fan Complains to the Feds Over the Game’s Ending
Mass Effect 3 Fan Complains to the Feds Over the Game’s Ending
One upset fan in the great Mass Effect 3 rageathon now is making a federal case out of his crushing disappointment in the game. Literally.
BioWare Forum user "El_Spiko" went to the Federal Trade Commission's web site to file a false advertising complaint directed at Electronic Arts and how it marketed the game. He also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
"After reading through the list of promises about the ending of the game they made in their advertising campaign and PR interviews, it was clear that the product we got did not live up to any of those claims," El_Spiko says. "This is not somethign [sic] I was happy to do, but after the terrible ending that was in no way the product that had been advertised to me and the lack of any kind of response from Bioware/EA to address this, I felt it was one of my only recourses."
He goes on to say: "I'll be returning my copy of the game before the end of my 30 day return policy if the ending still hasn't been addressed by then."
El_Spiko is asking likeminded gamers to join his crusade and file FTC and BBB complaints.

Seems obvious to me that there should be spoiler tags right after a game comes out. You have different people at different parts of the game all wanting to ask questions and discuss things.

Re: Mass Effect 3
Totally agree. People who have started the game but haven't finished it yet shouldn't need to avoid the thread if they have questions or need advice. That seems to be one of the most important functions of this forum, really.

Re: Mass Effect 3
which is why a game like Mass Effect should have a spoiler thread...I mean MW3 does not need one..or the new Mario game, but a game like Mass Effect just begs to have a spoiler thread...some are avoiding this thread just because they don't want to slip up...

Re: Mass Effect 3
Maybe one day I'll start a spoiler thread as a game nears launch and they can run in parallel with each other. Then, after a month or three or a year, some mod can merge them if they care enough.
It doesn't matter to me because I know how to keep myself safe, but I also recognize that it's not as easy to do that compared to a movie or tv show thread due to the time required to finish a game vs those other mediums.

Two threads would clutter things, IMO.
Plus, you might get the occasional dude that wanders into the regular forum and drops a spoiler with no tags, or vice versa.
There should be a minimum 6 months after the game releases for when you can speak freely about plot points, secrets, whatever with no spoilers.
Even then, some people don't play a game til a year after it releases.
If you don't care about spoilers, than click the spoiler tag and read it. I really don't see how this is even a discussion. People (myself included) try and make it easier when using them by putting a brief summary of what happens without spoiling anything (ie: "I am at the part on the Citadel where you fight" )before they tag it.

6 months? That is absurd

When a thread starts falling off the main page I assume that spoilers are fine since people are no longer actively still working on the game or discussing it.
I don't see an issue with two threads, one for free discussion for the entire trilogy for everyone that's beaten the game, and then the existing thread for the game for people to ask questions about missions, the story, whatever without being spoiled about the plot.

Not really.
So what if you, pinata, Deftones, and a few others all beat the game, but I am busy and can't play for a week or two?
I come back, seeing the thread on page one AFTER someone had bumped it from another page and assumed spoilers were okay. I see an active discussion about the ending with no spoiler tags.
To prevent anything from being spoiled, that's why we have spoiler tags. It doesn't matter if it's six months or a year.
What if someone had never played Mass Effect, and they head into the original thread and it was full of spoilers? All they wanted to know was how to beat some level or a good class to play.
Type or use the spoiler button. It takes seconds. It's not hard.
Two threads would be more cluttered than a ton of spoliers, IMO. There's just too much risk someone will post in the wrong one.

I don't think the thread would fall off just because you're on vacation for a week or two. If someone's too dumb to know the difference between a second thread that has SPOILERS in the subject, then tough.
I can't imagine someone just now playing the original Mass Effect and not expect a few spoilers scattered around. Plus, its pretty easy to stop reading once you start seeing mention of certain things.
Also, you can use GameFAQs.
