Re: Mass Effect 3

Finished it, and I don't want to read other's endings because I want to replay and see if its better, but here's my ending:

Spoiler:
I choose to destroy the Reapers and it shows Joker, Liara, and Jarik crash land on some planet. Thats it. After credits is a scene with an old man telling the story of Shepherd to a child. I don't even understand HOW they could be on the Normandy, seeing as they were on my team on Earth.

Is that it? Or did I just get a ball sucking ending? How does it compare to most?

Re: Mass Effect 3

Yep, that's pretty much it.
Spoiler:
Did you get the brief scene of Shepard laying among the rubble and taking a breath? Because that's pretty much the only "bonus"/different part to the ending that some people don't see depending on a couple of factors. You chose the right ending for it, though.

Re: Mass Effect 3

What if everyone died during the Omega Relay mission?

What if Shepard died after ME1 and wasn't actually revived by Cerberus?

What if Shepard didn't survive Akuze?

What if Shepard and our entire galaxy is just one of many simulations the Prothean run in trying to seed a future galaxy?

If they're going to make the ending a surreal dream or some unrealistic solution after getting blasted by a Reaper's beam, you could make the argument that it started well before then too.

You could, in the end it's Bioware's call. If Bioware says its indoctrination, its Indoctrination, Their decisions control the canon of the universe.

The Wachowski bros should make the Mass Effect movies.

WAAAAAY better. I mean, I made my decisions, do I really care how different the other scenarios play out? Sure, maybe, but how much does it matter when all the endings are the same? Let's bitch about that!

Amazon will take anything back. I contacted them about my CE being scratched and they refunded me fully as well. But this was on release day and I expected maybe 10% credit or something similar.

I'm saying it's dumb. We only do it for people who shouldn't be in here reading it. Do you see any of them commenting?

what about us poor mods who are also gamers who have to read this bullshit to make sure there's no grade school fights going on who aren't done because we're too busy?

Dude. I was commenting in here the entire time I was playing through the game. Don't tell me I shouldn't read this thread because I haven't beaten the game yet.

The spoiler system really helped prevent me from... guess what... getting the games ending spoiled.

It's a lot easier to read a paragraph that ends with
Spoiler:
spoiler
than to be reading someones comment where they drop in the middle of their post, 'Oh yeah and then everything ended this way and I thought that sucked.' You can't see that coming.

The idea behind these threads are to discuss the game, talk about strategy, favorite missions, great dialog, etc.

What is the big deal? Use the spoiler feature. There's a button RIGHT there. If it stops being used, then what's the point of the feature?

An entire page of this game thread has been discussing the usefulness or uselessness of the spoiler tag. Can we move this to another thread so we can leave the GAME for discussion? Or better yet, take it up with a Mod.

IMO - Games are different than movies. 2 hours vs 40+ means be motherfucking considerate to your fellow gamer please.

Re: Mass Effect 3

So consideration only goes one way. Got it.

The most active gamers in these threads are the ones that can't be or don't care about being spoiled but we have to be considerate for those other dudes who are rarely here all while taking more time to post, quote, edit, and read.

IMO - Games like this need 2 threads vs 1 just like movies do when it switches from pre-release to post.

Yeah. I was busy you know, playing the game. Stopping here to read the Spoiler Free conversations. Avoiding those spoiler buttons. See how that works?

Explain how we're being inconsiderate to you for requiring you to use the Spoiler feature.

Re: Mass Effect 3

I will agree the ending sucked. When I got right to the end and saw the decisions in front of me, I looked online to see if I was missing a 'good ending', and saw that I wasn't so I just turned off the xbox, not picking any ending. THATS the only way I could enjoy the end of what was a great game.

And despite the title, it's not an all-out negfest. It's more of a discussion of the theory that I mentioned earlier, and the one pinata alluded to a few posts above this one. It pretty much proves the argument (imo) that
Spoiler:
either Shepard was killed or knocked out before reaching the beam-me-up light, or the ending really does suck from a basic storytelling standpoint.
Very well thought out argument but really, I think it shows that the ending was rushed in production.

Spoiler:
-- The same animation sequence at the end saves time.
-- The blogger above is nit picking the conversation between Anderson and Shepherd--Obviously the animation and voice acting is done at completely different times and the animators are hectically trying to match up 'moving walls' with the dialog.

I agree the ending makes no logical sense unless you make some mental gymnastics and creative thinking of your own. At face value however it looks rushed.

The deadlines were closing in and they said 'ok, we need to end it quick--give me 3 endings that can use the same animation. We have all this recorded voice material from the actors we wrote for them last month, pick and choose from the cuts and see if you can piece together an ending thats all self-sacrificial and stuff.'

Maybe it's just me, but between hearing bad things about the ending and the multiplayer just being too dang fun, I can hardly get motivated to progress much through the story these days...

Don't be so butt hurt, man. We still love you.

Only you, deftones, and fumanstan seem to be bothered by having to use the spoiler tags, so....

If anything that would make me want to hurry up and finish it so I can get back to Skyrim and get ready for Max Payne 3.

Re: Mass Effect 3

I think I've done all the side missions or I'd go back to an earlier save and do more of them. The game IS FUN, the story IS WELL DONE, right up until the end and however bad that sounds, it's still a very worthwhile ride.

Additionally, the build up to the end was really fun and satisfying in and of itself. You have some great conversations and shared moments with the characters. That part of the game was obviously very well put together.

Re: Mass Effect 3

Apparently EA is offering refunds for customers in the UK from Origin, if they claim False Advertising, folks on BSN are trying to find out if it applies to the US as well:

http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/to...dex/10302791/1

This is huge, basically it would admit that EA/Bioware knew the game had a potential to be false advertising and trying to stave off a lawsuit?

sh*t has officially hit the fan.
