Re: Mass Effect 3

Why the fuck are you reading a thread about a game that has come out if you know there are bound to be spoilers? That's like reading a thread about a movie that was just released. I have spoiler tagged all my comments in here because I know nobody was going to beat the game in less than a week like I did. Having said that, if I hadn't started playing this for a month after it was out, no way would I bother with spoiler tags. If you come in here and fuck yourself by reading shit, that's on you, not me.

If you want information about a game, go read an IGN review, not a message board.

Re: Mass Effect 3

I am in love with the Javelin.....

So...I ran with the Black Widow for most of my insanity run...it is an amazing weapon. Doing my second run I wanted something a little different so I tried out the Javelin.

This sniper is amazing. It only does a hair less dmg than the Widow, but it has 1 meter penetration vs .50 for the Widow and .25 for the Black Widow. Its scope can see through smoke which frees up a mod spot. The difference is besides seeing through smoke, it can also see through walls...it outlines enemies in dark areas...and shows cloaked enemies.

The one thing negative is the small build-up to its shot. This is NOT bad though. As the Infiltrator you slow time down a bit when zoomed in, and the one damage mod that increases this makes the slow-down significant. What this means is if the enemy moves at the last second you have time to adjust your shot, or cancel it.

If you have the weapon give it a try. Even if you are not an Infiltrator, snap on the mod that adds slowdown and try it out.

I can't imagine someone just now playing the original Mass Effect and not expect a few spoilers scattered around. Plus, its pretty easy to stop reading once you start seeing mention of certain things.

Also, you can use GameFAQs.

Alot of people would prefer to come here, that's why they signed up at this site and went to the video game forum. To talk about a game.

Nobody is saying anyone is dumb, sometimes errors happen. We've all posted something in the wrong thread before. Even if it was noticed right away and corrected, someone could have saw it.

Why take the chance? Because you're too lazy to spoiler it or you just think it makes the thread cluttered?

Ridiculous.

And the stop reading part? Not so easy. With the way people quote things here. All it would take is something like "when xxxxx died, I was shocked."

That's a short sentence that would kill the game.

Spoiler tags. Use them. Love them.

The movie threads are the same and people use spoiler tags as well. If I wanted to see 21 Jump St, I might go to Movie Talk to check the reviews thread. Go to Rottenromatoes you say? Maybe another movie review site?

What if I want reviews from actual people that didn't get paid to watch the movie? The reviews that actually count.

I still don't see the point is you wanting to not use spoiler tags. No way you'd bother with tags? Oh, it's such a bother, isn't it? Soooo time consuming. It helps out so much when you don't have to click the little spoiler tag to read something about a game you beat or movie you saw.

I'd be pissed if I came into this thread a month after the game came out, and read your blatant spoilers. It's on me, not you, sure, but we're all members here, so you'd think you'd be kind enough to not give a collective middle finger to those that haven't yet played the game.

Re: Mass Effect 3

So there was a bit more with one of the Bioware guys over the weekend. His delusion about the quality of the ending comes from the fact that he sees the whole game as an ending, so he considers the end of each major plot point to be part of the game's "ending". Hence why he doesn't understand why people hate the ending.

Re: Mass Effect 3

I totally agree. It truly is about the destination and all the conflicts along the way.

As far as the ending given here it's like
Spoiler:
death in a way. It can happen any time and if you didn't get accomplished what you wanted accomplished by then, there's no sense whining about it.

Hell, someone earlier even said it was possible Shepard died on the dash to the conduit and everything after that wasn't real. I can accept that too. It was a hopeless situation. Either you or everyone dies or you get to some deus ex machina from within the literal machine the story is centered around and get what we got.

I never expected a neat ribbon on my package.

10 Reasons why the endings were bad:

Also starts with several quotes talking about wildly divergent endings, no ABC endings.

Of course it is. When you start seeing posts about content you haven't reached yet, stop reading, play the game, and return to the thread in a little bit after you've played more. I did that with this thread because I didn't get the chance to play until a week after release and wanted to be sure.

There also appears to be a USB stick plugged into the future laptop.

From the ME facebook page:

We are aware that there are concerns about a recent post from this account regarding the ending of the game. In this post it was stated that at this time we do not have plans to change the ending.

We would like to clarify that we are actively and seriously taking all player feedback into consideration and have ruled nothing out. At this time we are still collecting and considering your feedback and have not made a decision regarding requests to change the ending.

Your feedback and opinions are of the utmost importance to us. We apologize for any confusion this has caused. Our top priority regarding this discussion is to keep communication with you, our loyal fans, open and productive.

This is a lengthy, but very interesting fan-created read: A Logical Breakdown of Why the Mass Effect 3 Ending Makes No Sense

And despite the title, it's not an all-out negfest. It's more of a discussion of the theory that I mentioned earlier, and the one pinata alluded to a few posts above this one. It pretty much proves the argument (imo) that
Spoiler:
either Shepard was killed or knocked out before reaching the beam-me-up light, or the ending really does suck from a basic storytelling standpoint.

Ok, so if I or someone else sees a post about the ending, stop reading.

Gotcha.

So we'll know who died, or what happened, we just won't know exactly how. That makes it all better.

If there was only a way we could just avoid that happening altogether.

Oh wait....
Spoiler:
there is!

Re: Mass Effect 3

Really? You think you're going to be reading comments about previews for the game, trailers, then people buying their copies, ship times, and all of a sudden an unspoilered post with the ending? Just like that?

Spoiler:
WAAAAAY better. I mean, I made my decisions, do I really care how different the other scenarios play out? Sure, maybe, but how much does it matter when all the endings are the same? Let's bitch about that!

Amazon is allowing those who bought Mass Effect 3 to send the game back for a full refund, even if it has been opened!

People are fucking assholes. Absolutely absurd.

Who said this is like Misery before? Maybe all these people should get together and shatter Bioware's ankles. While you're at it, invent a time machine and go rape George Lucas as a child. Paradoxically, that's the event that causes him to create Star Wars later just so you can bitch about it like entitled brats.

Make your own fucking saga. Until then GET OFF MY LAWN!

Amazon made the decision, blame the business, not the consumer.

Amazon went to the consumers offering this? That seems like a terrible business practice.

However, doing what you can to deflect insane customers' rants to someone else's problem is understandable.

You just know this tool-box went on a rant to some poor Indian CSR who decided that refunding the game was better than trying to understand the ending to ME3. Now that the precedence is set, I wonder if they'll take back Madden 12?

yeah not sure why Amazon is doing this (if true), Consumer's outrage is against Bioware and EA, not Amazon. I would guess Amazon would eat the costs? Or at least part of the costs.

At their volume, it's a drop in the bucket. Sometimes, you just gotta let the shoplifter go than chase them through the parking lot.

Is it too late to return Rage for a full refund? Because I bought that on release day, and it sucked balls.
