Kinect Hub -> Previous -> Kinect ID. Pretty obvious from there.

Cool. I assumed it might be something obvious. It's just a matter of stopping the fun long enough to set it up though.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?

My girl is tall, but very petite. Still, if you actually have to reach on the screen I can see that being a problem. Hell, I'm sure shell like it, as she loved flailing around in "You're in the Movies". I'll let this one be a decision for the wife.

I know it's been asked before, but is Microsoft completely opposed to adding any sort of controller to go with this? Seems like a no brainier to make something like the Move controller for certain games.

Do what Pixy did and take her over to Best Buy to check it out and see how it goes.

They both keep hounding me about Kinectimals. I made the mistake of showing them one of the demo videos. Doh!

Barring some of the space issues I've been reading about, do you think my girls are old enough to enjoy this?

My just turned 5yr old son is LOVING Kinectimals.

i don't know if they're opposed to creating a wii/move like controller, but there will be games that use both kinect and the controller simultaneously. maybe madkatz or someone will create something similar.

Sweet! So now we can actually make Mario jump further by flailing our arms.

How is he with the controls? I have a friend that said it's frustrating for his 6 year old daughter.

Damn, I know where I stand.

My 6 year-old seems to be at the low-end of enjoyment. I think the thing has a hard time detecting her movements because she's so small. It hasn't been a big deal other than a little frustration here and there. It doesn't seem to recognize her voice either, but the 10 year-old is just fine.

Also, every time she played Kinect Adventures, it appeared in my achievement list.. anyone know what that's about?

I think because they realized that it's a family/party game and most people won't be savvy enough to teach Kinect how to distinguish from each other. So the achievements all say something like "or see someone". So if you're signed in, you get credit, even if you aren't in front of the camera.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?

He picked up the hand controls pretty fast. As long as he's in the camera's view, he hasn't had many problems with the controls. Being 5, he does tend to jump in and out of the camera's viewing angle, but it picks him back up with no problems and he's back in the game.

He's played Kinectimals and Kinect Adventures with me standing next to him and even with me being 6'3" and him being almost 4' the Kinect has not had any issues.

I wouldn't say it's worked 100% of the time, but it has never messed for more than a few seconds before it saw him again and the game moved on. I think the games do a good enough job of visually showing and explaining the controls.

Kinectimals is also kid friendly enough where it doesn't penalize you for not getting the controls 100% correct. If it's trying to teach you a trick for your animal, if you can't seem to get it down, it will move on after a few tries and pretty much says it will come back to it later.

I didn't know you were referring to Kinectimals specifically. I guess I'll hold off on that one and pick it up cheap down the line.

I'm considering the Ubi Fitness one with my $40 K-mart credit. The demo seemed pretty cool, even though it was only one exercise.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?

Oh, I wasn't. Kinectimals seems ok, but it doesn't really rely on twitch movements. The only real problem she has with that is during the "events". Stuff like throwing a ball to knock down objects or kicking a soccer ball through bubbles. Not dealbreakers by any means.

Well that's the thing, I was not even signed in both times it happened (to my knowledge).

I learned that it doesn't sign you out unless you specifically do it. Each new person that signs in just adds to the stack. I'm not sure what happens for the 5th person, though, as we didn't have that many.

I'm pretty sure I was not signed in period, she signed into her profile at boot.

The kinect is awesome. I spent a few more hours with it this weekend. I only have KA and the demos and I have been having so much fun. This thing is a keeper.

I am hoping this thing becomes scarce...I bought an extra on friday at walmart why they were still in stock. It would be nice to make some money. I saw yesterday some of the Kinects were going for $200 on ebay. That is a good sign. :)

Nah, I'm not. I'm thinking something like Kinect Adventures probably just attaches itself to any local profiles due to the "jump in, jump out" nature of it and how the camera can recognize players (though I have not yet associated mine with a Kinect ID).

It's not even a huge deal, I was mostly just curious.

That's exactly what I said. The only difference is it isn't every local profile, just the ones that are signed in. We were getting it on 3 of my 7 local profiles. Coincidentally, the 3 that were actually signed in.

So then its signing me in automatically or something strange, I assure you I never signed my profile in and we have no "auto sign in" profile.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?

Maybe. If you did previously sign in, KA will think you're there even if you aren't in front of the camera.

I know because the kids played before me and each achievement popped up twice. Once for me as "Player 1" on the circle and then once for them as Players 2 and 3. I found it weird and since I'm an achievement whore, I went to investigate and saw all that "or see someone" stuff.
