Kinect: Are you buying one?
Just curious to see how many of you suckers are gonna get this -wink-
I'm waiting till a price drop. The only thing that looks of interest is for Game shows like "1 vs 100" and "You don't know jack" should be fun to have with Kinect support. |
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
I am getting it, but I am not very excited about it. I am not even buying an extra game right now. I will just mess around with the Kinect Adventures which is included.
|
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
i had no interest in wii and thus no interest.
|
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
I'm interested, but my Wii and my Move are collecting dust at the moment, so I think I'll wait it out this time. I am intrigued by the $50 clip, though, I've always wanted a clip for my tv.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
I'm a fan of the Move because I think it integrates motion controls well into core gaming. This one I'm not interested in at present because the games look lame and the tech seems sketchy. Still the Mrs somehow has managed to sneak a sip of the Kool Aide and has started asking me about it though I've never brought it up and I can't even get her to play a round of table tennis or Frisbee golf with the Move controller yet. Somehow, Microsoft is worming their way into their target demographic, so give them credit for that, I suppose.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Voted no. YDNJ put it back on my radar ever so slightly, but I'm not paying $150 just to play it.
|
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
I won't even take one if you gave me to me for free (assuming I couldn't sell it).
|
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
I'll just transplant my post from the clip thread since it fits more here:
What is really insane is my wife has mentioned Kinect to me several times this past week. This is a woman who despises video games and won't even go near the Wii. So for her to actually show interest in this product basically stuns me. I told her I was going to have to see a lot of reviews and a cheaper x-mas package before I even consider buying this. |

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Nope.
I already have a Wii (which hasn't been turned on in at least 4 months) and the Move. I've just been hearing too many little things here and there about certain things not working (It has trouble reading you if you wear black or white, freaks out if anyone walks behind you) that I am going to be very cautious about getting it. Well, that and I'm not really that keen on flailing around with nothing to hold on to and no buttons. I am still wondering how they will create control schemes with no buttons for things like shooting games. |

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Yeah, my wife said she wanted to get the new "Connect" thing. I think it's because they have been showing Kinect in all the women's shows.
|
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
I'm old school so i like to sit and use a controller. I will pass.
|
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
I'm a gadget whore and this looks fun. Buying one.
|
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Like the Move, I might get it when actual games come out. I'm not paying $200+ to simulate dancing and gropping animals.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
No, I've spent enough and I don't use my 360S enough as it is, don't need another $150 just so I can move when I play, if I want that I'll dust off my Wii.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
I wasn't going to, but then my old co-workers chipped in and got me a $250 Best Buy gift card as a going-away present, so...

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Gonna say no on this one. My stack of unplayed normal games is building at an exponential rate, why would I want to add in movement games as well?

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
nope.
|
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Nope because it wouldn't work in my living room (nor 99% of living rooms in Japan funnily enough). Good luck trying to sell that thing over here!

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
I wouldn't be in the market anyway because I don't have a 360, but even if I did I wouldn't buy it. I believe that a controller is an important part of gaming and I don't like attempts to give you less tactile feedback (like using a touchscreen/touchpad for action games) or remove the controller altogether, as in this case.
However, even if I was interested, I would wait anyway (as I'm doing for the Move), because I want to see how well this stuff gets supported. Add-on peripherals have a tendency to flame out, and being 4-5 years into this generation isn't making me confident about their success. So far, I haven't seen a killer app that makes me want to get a Move. So far, it has been bland launch games and retrofits for existing games. I guess what I'm really waiting for a AAA title that requires the Move, or at least completely sucks without it. Supposedly, LittleBigPlanet 2 will make good use of it, so we'll see. |
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Not sure. I'll wait and see what happens within the next year or so.
Remember the Sega Activator for the Sega Genesis? It was $150. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ql-UZv3AS-E?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ql-UZv3AS-E?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> |
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Nope. Not even if it was free.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
Really.
Someone gave me the Wii balance board (back when it was new) - never even took it out of it's box. Same level of interest here. |
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
I still don't believe that it works as well as they have hyped it up to seem.
I'll believe it when I see it in action. Even then, it would take an amazing game to get me onboard.

What's sad is the movements the guy was doing kinda resembles the people on the Kinect commercials. |
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
I won't be buying one because it won't motivate me to get up and move, but it may very well record me masturbating in front of the TV and send it to everyone I know on Facebook.

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
I will probably get my son one....and maybe my daughter if she likes his....my youngest does not have an xbox and does not want one...so it looks like 300 bucks out of me...

Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
I'm on the fence. I bit on the Wii and it's been a real let down. I'll wait and see what other games come out first.
|
Re: Kinect: Are you buying one?
If I'm not petting a virtual tiger by this time tomorrow I'll just die I tell you!
I'm passing until my wife brings one home from work one of these days. The gaming room is very cozy and designed for optimum lounging so I don't think the Kinect will work well in there at all. |
