I managed to eek out finishing up Grohl Goal last night. Played all 55 songs yesterday, and also finished up the last few songs I had left to do from BSSM from the night before as well.

I cannot, for the life of me, get anywhere near GS on Cult of Personality. I may have to try jackpot instead.

I got 3 of the 7 songs for the Come Fly With Me goal. I don't own the others for it and I'm not sure I want to buy them.

I've spent the last two hours retraining my brain and fingers from the "Default" control scheme to the "Freakish". What a difference! While I was getting a pretty decent GS rate the old way, I blew away my "Cult of Personality" score and hit that one. Got pretty close (I think) to nailing "Death on Two Legs".

Coin system changes:
Hey gang,
We’ve been monitoring all the feedback
we’ve gotten since the launch of Rock Band
Blitz (via Forums/Twitter/Facebook/etc)
and, based on that, we’re making some
tweaks to our coin economy in the game
today.
Here’s what’s new:
Cost of Power-ups:
Overdrive Power-ups: 250 coins per use
Note Power-ups: 200 coins per use.
Track Power-ups: 100 coins per use.
(note: it now only costs 550 coins for a full
Power-up loadout!)
Song Performance Coin Rewards:
At the end of a song, you now get 100
Coins per Star across the board.
Score Wars:
Winners of Score Wars will now be
receiving 1500 coins at completion.
Losers of Score Wars will now be receiving
500 coins at completion.
I, of course, would be remiss for not again
mentioning Rock Band World as a great
(and even fun!) option for earning even
more coins for use in Rock Band Blitz. But,
we of course understand that some folks
don't want to use Facebook, so these
tweaks should help make those players out.
Note that this won’t require a patch or
anything, as we’re able to make these
changes server-side. We’ll continue to keep
an eye on your feedback in the coming
days and weeks, so let us know what you
think!

Fantastic. This makes me want to go back and play it some more, after losing interest in the meager coin payouts (and getting pissed that I had to pay every time I played).

That's great to hear. I'm over it since I have been using the Facebook app for challenges, though that's not for everyone. On the flip side of it, it has pushed me to buy some tracks I've been on the fence on for some time, so they're winning

I think I've hit the same wall with Blitz that I hit with RB3. After marathoning it for a couple of days, I feel like I've done everything there is to do.

Not me, I'm working my way down the list of songs and getting gold stars on them. I feel like I've got most of the hardest ones already done. After that, though, I can totally see it sitting on the shelf for quick sessions here and there, quicker than pinball at least. And with the challenges, I may even be spending more money on songs for RB3. It's a gateway drug.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I guess since I'm not getting more than 4.25 stars at the end of every song, and have no idea what I'm doing wrong, it's not holding the same appeal to me that getting golds in RB proper does. In RB you get better scores by playing better. In RBB it just seems like random fuckery.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
You're me a few days ago. Do these things:
1) Try a different control scheme than default, if you haven't already. Freakish is the bomb.
A) This may take an hour or so to rewire your brain, but it's worth a try.
2) Powerups are key. Road Rage + Bomb + (usually) Super Guitar is pretty good for 5* at least.
3) Learn when to switch tracks without breaking combo/Blitz. This nets you decent bonus points.
A) If you're really comfortable with that, change Road Rage out for Jackpot.
4) As Shag mentioned, when you're on the past the last checkpoint, don't bother maxing out the other tracks, just focus on your primary one. The extra 300 points you get at the end for each isn't worth neglecting your main track. To do this properly, you need some familiarity with the song or play it at least once to know when you can stop worrying about the others. Or when you see the Finish line ahead.

If I never hear that Shinedown song again, it'll be too soon. I must've played it 25 times in a row trying for a few extra points for GS. Finally did by foregoing Jackpot and returning to Road Rage.

Another bonus of Freakish is the ability to jump two tracks at a time by hitting both analogs in the same direction!

I'd rather never hear the song Charlene again, but since you sent it to me with a goddamned ridiculous score to beat, that's all I've heard.

I was going to say, Freakish seemed like it would be too slow to change multiple tracks with, but that's a good point. If/when I play Blitz again, I need to try out Freakish for more than the 1 song I attempted last time.

Has anyone really figured out how the Goal challenges work when using the "as friends for help"
I've sent out some requests for goals and have gotten a few. When I look at my goal, it only ever shows me and not a group of people. I don't recall a spot to accept the invite for help. I figured it would be a good way to get the Grohl goal as I don't have most of the Foo Fighters songs. As well as that Fly With Me goal as I don't have some of those songs.

Blitz isn't as much fun as the PSP Rock Band for some reason, or Frequency/Amplitude. Still, nice collection of songs.

Dunno if there's any mention of this over at the RB forums yet, but last night I found two songs that are unfinishable in RBB: John Lennon's "How?" and "Jealous Guy". They always freeze before you hit the finish, and there's no one on the leaderboards for either one.

So at this point, I don't think anyone can join groups for goals.
