Bummer. And odds are it won't actually be L1/R1, probably O/X/[]/Triangle, so you can one thumb it all the way.

One of the videos showed that there were multiple configuration options on the 360 version. At least one option had the left and right triggers.

So how many of those recent DLC-doubles-that-should-have-just-been-a-3-pack will find themselves rounded out here?

All of them!

BTW, the livestream is theoretically live (I can't verify this while at work): http://twitch.tv/harmonixmusic

It'll show Blitz gameplay and reveal next week's RB3 DLC.

...am I the only one that thinks this just looks absolutely silly? It's like they're going backwards instead of forward.

You're probably not alone, but you're hardcore!

It's a different game and a way to give me more value for all the DLC I've bought over the years. Looks fun to me

Plus I can play it without needing to grab an instrument and rock out. Easier for headphones at night and I don't have to stand for hours.

I agree about the gold star meter. Have they announced any more of the 25 songs?

Eh, at 25 songs for $19.99 I'll just consider it an RB3 DLC pack.

Is that the confirmed price point?

There is no confirmed price point or date or the other 20 songs.

They did say that if you know what arcade games cost then you should have an idea. Also that from a DLC cost perspective, people would be very pleased. I'd be surprised if it was not $20. They also mentioned that there will be a trial version, so you can try before you buy.

I've been told $19.99 is the max for XBLA games

OK, I might have to be buying some more DLC. I was tempted by Huey Lewis and Men at Work. Of course, it'll probably have lots of long quick strings of a repeated note, which I suck at Although there are some killer solos.

I'm not sold on Rock Band Blitz, although I'll definitely try the trial version, and depending on the setlist/price, might buy it just for that. Metal Health, it drives you mad.

Raining Blood was the bane of my existence back in the simpler GH3 days. I remember spending a few weeks trying to get past that one until one day I came home a bit drunk and breezed through it.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

I had a chance to play the Blitz demo at PAX and I really enjoyed it. There's a slight adjustment period - you have to train yourself to watch the multiplier indicators on the left side of the screen to know which of the five tracks you should be focusing on. Once you acclimate to that, it feels pretty awesome. The one thing I'm curious about that they didn't show much of was the leaderboard stuff. After finishing a song, you see where you end up on the boards, but I hope they have a Hot Pursuit/SSX element of suggesting which songs to play based on what your friends have played. That could really be what makes the game worth sticking with over the long term.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

The livestream show last week showed a sort of launch page where the game would recommend songs in your library based on any number of factors. Stuff like "Hey, get more stars on this one" or "You haven't played this one in a long time" or whatever. Bunch of stuff. I would be surprised if there wasn't a competitive version of that on there as well.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Pink is a good choice. There are at least a couple Pink tracks already in Rock Band, "Who Knew" and "So What", unless I'm thinking of Guitar Hero. I just listened to next week's tracks and I think I'll go with "Sober" and "Please Don't Leave Me" Both feature decent, but simple, guitar and drum parts, and what sounds like dual harmony vocals throughout which could be fun.

The other two don't sound like as a good fit for the game, I'll have to check out the youtube play thru on those. I think "Trouble", "Raise Your Glass", "Don't Let Me Get Me", or "U and UR Hand" would have been better choices, but I guess that would leave room for a future Pink Pack if this one sells well.

I like Pink, but I refuse to spell her name with an exclamation point.

Anyone want to play the song guessing game for RBB like we did for RB3?

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Yes. I haven't come up with my three yet, but I know one for sure:

Miley Cyrus - Party in the USA

Also, we still have that tie-breaker number where you guess how many you think the group as a whole will get exactly right.
