I want in on this one. Are there any other rules I should follow? One thing comes to mind immediately: can we pick the same songs as other people?

Hmmm... We couldn't last time, but there's really no reason why not, especially with such a small pool of songs that will be coming.

If two people pick the same song correctly, should that count twice for the group's correct picks?

For the record, I only bring up the picking the same song thing because I feel like Party in the U.S.A. seems like a slam dunk for a pick. I feel the same way about You Spin Me Round (Like A Record.) Those seem like pretty safe bets, given the limited knowledge we have about possible upcoming RB song releases.

Ha! I'm taking Who Can It Be Now too. That seems too obvious.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

My picks:

1. Stacy's Mom - Fountains of Wayne
2. Shout - Tears For Fears
3. Edge of Glory - Lady Gaga

I tried to spread out my picks from three different decades. There's one that's a bit of a longshot (but it was released for GH) and two picks from artists already in the RB stable. I just have to think they licensed more than two TfT songs. And the Gaga song seems like it could fit in the playlist somewhere.

Tiebreaker: 6

We're going to need a lot more than 3 players...

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

My final picks:

Miley Cyrus - Party in the USA
Bush - Glycerine
The B-52s - Love Shack

Tiebreaker: 4

Tiebreakers can be changed for a while, because we don't know how many people will be playing. For reference, the RB3 game had 95 guesses and only 4 correct answers so ours so far are pretty overzealous!

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

I think there are some solid picks so far. Both the Men at Work and Miley picks seem like locks...and Love Shack seems like an inspired choice. I kind of can't believe that song isn't in Rock Band. It would play well in Blitz and it would be a perfect tune for RB parties. I really hope that one shows up.

And I may have to think a bit about my tiebreaker number. Especially if no one is going to play.

Where's the RB Love, DVDTalk folks?

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

I'll log a few guesses, based on my total and complete lack of knowledge about any upcoming DLC:

"You Make My Dreams" - Hall & Oats
"Moves Like Jagger" - Maroon 5
"Rocking In The Free World" - Neil Young

-- How crazy is it that there's no Neil Young in Rock Band (save "For What It's Worth" by Buffalo Springfield)?

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Got a tiebreaker in mind?

I'm having serious second thoughts about Party in the USA. While a notable omission from the Miley pack AND RB3, I'm thinking the window of opportunity has passed on it. It seems too dated, even with Weird Al's parody last year.

I'll lowball with 2.

And just for clarification : We're talking about the total number of different songs that we, collectively as a group, guess correctly, right? We really haven't established if it's okay for more than one person to guess the same song. Personally, I consider poaching another's choice to be poor form, but we haven't established that it's not allowed yet.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Yes, the tiebreaker is just for what the group gets as a whole. Obviously the more players and more guesses that come in, the likelihood of that increases and that's why you're welcome to change it as more people come in.

I agree about duplicate guesses. No one's done it yet and I didn't allow it last time. You snooze, you lose.

I respectfully ask that my tiebreaker number be moved to 3. While I'd love just about every song we've selected as a group, I think 6 is a bit optimistic.

I hope that my guess of correct answers is low, because there are some great songs being thrown out there!

I think I've finally come to the conclusion that we're never getting more Metallica for this game.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Maybe more of a personal wishlist, but here's my entry:

Duran Duran - "The Reflex"
Harvey Danger - "Flagpole Sitta"
Cake - "The Distance"

Tiebreaker: 3

We need Cake and given the nature of RB Blitz, this song would be a great introduction. I stayed away from duplicates, too, but think the Maroon 5, Men at Work, and Hall and Oates guesses are likely.

These narrowly missed making my roster. Feel free to steal:

fun. - "We Are Young"
The Breeders - "Cannonball"
MGMT - "Kids" or "Time to Pretend"
The Toadies - "Possum Kingdom"
The Cure - "Fascination Street" or "Friday I'm in Love"

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

I'm curious if anyone knows if the deals that bands struck for exclusivity in Power Gig are still in play now that the game is long-forgotten. I'd love to have some Clapton and/or DMB in Rock Band someday.

Also, did Bruce Springsteen strike an exclusive deal for Guitar Hero or is it just a weird quirk that he's appeared in their DLC but never in Rock Band?

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

No clue about The Boss, he released some free DLC on GH and disappeared from the genre. Bruce songs would kick so much ass in this game, bring it on.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

My guess for 3 tracks:

Florence + the Machine: Kiss with a Fist
Katy Perry: Last Friday Night
Muse: The Resistance (just so people will complain about having to buy a game to get another Muse track).

And the wildcard: Amberian Dawn

tie breaker: 4

Maroon 5 - Harder to Breathe
Motley Crue - Girls, Girls, Girls
