according to HMX: "technically possible" == "magic"

Those sales numbers wouldn't shock me. When I'm playing Expert (non-pro) Keys, and hitting top-30/40 on the leaderboards on sight-reads consistently, makes me think there's not a ton of players out there.

The charts will most definitely change. There was a roll in Wanted Dead or Alive that was not charted back in RB1. That will most assuredly be in there. I'm sure there will be other changes as well.

I'm saying that those numbers are probably high.

Yeah. I'm sight-reading Easy Pro keys, and I'm not at all a keyboardist, yet somehow I'm the 93rd highest scoring keyboardist on the planet...in the top 1%. That means that, what, 10,000 or so people have played keys on an Internet-connected console? I've played every song with keys in the game plus the free Doors DLC, but the overwhelming majority of those I played just once. I really shouldn't be that high.

I haven't gone back through very extensively, but the engine doesn't automagically find rolls and trills on its own?

I remember when RB2 came out, there were certain charts that changed automatically from RB1/DLC songs. Can't remember specifically, but it was subtle, and on guitar. Dani was one I remember that changed. And those changes, I assume had to be on the engine, not in the song.

Keyboards have been pretty scarce. Plus, I know some people (like myself) have dabbled with keys but are still playing all the other instruments they enjoy first before learning a whole new one.

Nope, it doesn't for rolls at least. Weak, but it's not a big deal to me like the RBN issue is. Although it would help me to pass some of the songs with trickier snare rolls like some of the Hendrix stuff.

You guys may want to hold off on that Talking Heads song. It's terrible and extremely boring. I was excited when I saw we gave it away for free a few weeks ago, but when e actually played it, we almost turned it off 1/2 way though. I gave it 1 lighter and I really like the song, just not for RB.

Looks busy enough to me. Keyboards are light, but that's the new normal.

Some songs shine on vocals. This is definitely one.

Didn't see this yet, but I may have missed it in my travels:

A lot has happened in the last two hours. The long and short of it is that we’re going to have new RB3 files that add keys and harmonies as well as add-on content that enables Pro Guitar and Pro Bass. The new information is that the add-ons for Pro G/B should be available for both the new RB3 file and your existing file.

To be clearer, this means there will be three files you can download in the future for Legacy DLC songs where Pro Guitar/Pro Bass is being made available:

* The new “RB3 Version” of a song, including traditional GBDV, keys (pro and regular) and harmony vocals
* A “Pro Guitar/Pro Bass” upgrade for that “RB3 Version”, allowing you to have the whole experience
* A “Pro Guitar/Pro Bass” upgrade for legacy “RB2 era DLC”. This will skip Keys and Harmonies being added (those are only in the “RB3 Version”, but allow you to purchase the Pro Guitar/Bass add-on without rebuying the core song file.

To reiterate, if you stick with your RB2 legacy track and want to upgrade to pro guitar/bass – you will not have access to Keys, Pro Keys or harmony vocals. If you want that latter content, you need to purchase the “RB3 Version” of the file.

As for the Bon Jovi tracks coming out next week, you’ll currently only be able to get the Pro Guitar / Bass upgrades for the RB3 Versions of the tracks, but moving forward you should see Pro Guitar/Bass upgrade options for legacy re-releases
.

This is good news, especially since there will be Legacy DLC that have awesome Pro G/B potential, but no keys or harmonies.

So basically, there'll be no discounted keys/harmonies upgrades. Kinda contradicts the vague things they said earlier about upgrades.

It also sort of confuses the "RB3 Pro Upgrade just locks extra stuff that's already in the RB3 file". Maybe that's still true, but how would they add that to the RB2 files?

And, if we're playing an RB2 file online and you have the Pro upgrade and I don't, WTF will I be seeing on your chart? Or is that going to be incompatible and punish the Pro guy?

Yeah I already see a giant problem brewing with all this...

In fairness, I think online compatibility was completely back-burner in design. They're focused on 7-player-living-room-and/or-bar-rock-band-night mode. Which is fine, but there is a huge online component to the pick-up-and-play.

Three exciting new files you can download for legacy DLC!!!

It does sound confusing, but ultimately that's no different than the $1 surcharge for pro charting they had already told us about. Except...I assumed the $1 surcharge would be for pro keys, guitar, AND bass. It's disappointing to hear that if we have an RB2 song, we have to buy a whole new version PLUS the upgrade.

It took a week and a half but I finally got my Keyboard + game from Dell. Looking forward to trying it out tonight. All my other guitars and stuff is unaccessable, so looks like keyboard only for me for a while.

Oh yeah, you all have probably discussed this already, but Family Dollar has Track Packs for sale for $5 each. They had some for every system. I picked up the Track Pack Volume 2 though I already have five of the twenty songs as DLC. They also had the Metal pack for 360 and country tracks for PS3. Probably worth checking out. Not nearly as disgusting a dollar store as most of them here in town.

Thanks for the heads up. There's a Family Dollar about a mile from my house, went to check it out. In addition to those you mentioned, mine also had AC/DC. I play on Xbox, and the only one they had for 360 was Track Pack 2, but there's 5 or 6 Family Dollars in my city, gonna go check out the others tomorrow and see if I can score the rest. I never thought these were really worth the full asking price, but 5 bucks is hard to turn down.

It sure is different for people interested in the keyboard. I know I sure wouldn't have paid $20 to download Bob Marley's Legend album when it was released last month if Harmonix hadn't implied that pro keys would be an upgrade option. I definitely don't consider paying another $20 or $30 for that album an "upgrade." That's just rebuying it.

I've been to most of the Family Dollar stores in my area (scary, scary places) and only found Track Vol 2 & the Metal Track pack for the 360. Those are at every one of the store. No AC/DC or Classic Rock track packs for the 360 though. :(

AC/DC track pack for the PS2 has been at every store which sucks and I have seen no Classic Rock track packs for any system. If I could find the remaining two for the 360 I would be very happy.

Note that the only track packs released for the 360 are the Track Pack Volume 2, Metal Track Pack, Country Track Pack, AC/DC Track Pack and Classic Rock Track Pack. I have seen posts on CAG where people went all over the place looking for Track Pack Volume 1 for the 360 yet it doesn't exist.

If anyone finds AC/DC or the Classic Rock Track Packs and can't find Volume 2 or Metal, let me know and I can pick those up and do an even trade.
