No, that was me. Not only was that tongue-in-cheek, but I've since rescinded that.

I'm ok with it as a running joke. You know, like the Muse/<s>Live</s>/Cake/Sponge thing.

so people still play Rock band? Mine has been collecting dust for months. For a genre that used to be insanely popular it has sure taken a nose dive.

No, we just talk about Rock Band. 5600 posts in a year. There's no interest at all.

I still play it weekly (mostly singing and trying to get used to the keyboard currently) and my wife still plays it about once a week while I am at work (that I know of anyway :)) and a couple of times a month she usually asks if we can play together. So, I would say it still gets play.

I go in waves. There will be spans of days where I play several ~20 song sets each and then I'll go for weeks without playing. I play whenever my kids want to or when some of my old college buddies want to play or whenever a new song comes out that I just have to play.

I'm not like Shag that plays every single day, but it's still one of my main go-tos.

I don't play nearly as often as I'd like to - thanks to the toddler toddling around. But I still look at the drum set dreamily every couple days.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

I usually play once a week with Shag, and occasionally by myself too. I played for about 45 minutes yesterday. It's funny though, after I was done, I realized how little interest I have of a sequel for RB3. Sure, I'd buy it, but it's not like RB2 or RB3 where even before it was announced I was thinking about the possibilities.

Agreed. This is when we talk about separating the "engine" from the "content". I really don't know why they haven't tried to monetize the in-game assets. There's plenty of things they can do with microtransactions with licensed clothing, instruments, and venues.

With 3000 songs available, we really don't need them holding back 80 specific singles for a retail release. The DLC train has been firing on all cylinders lately and that's really all it should be.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Yeah, it's kind of surprising they haven't tried to sell more content besides songs.

Adjust your expectations accordingly! Also, please page Salvatoris. I think he might be interested.

I wonder why no Stellar? Since they should already have the guitar charting from GH1.

pinata242 07-18-11 03:38 PM

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Wasn't GH1 almost all cover versions? The chart wouldn't be the same anyway. But I'm sure licensing has a lot more to do with it than having 1/4 of the charts already done ;)

Just to clear things up, I don't play every day anymore.

Just most days. :)

Got some clues for the DLC announcement for Friday. I do not know any more than I am letting you guys know now.

1. 5-pack
2. Keys heavy
3. RB3 on-disc artist

That really could be any number of artists, but Elton John, Yes, or Poni Hoax.

Metric? I mean, it's obviously not, but wouldn't that be great?

The Beach Boys?

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Faith No More? Although I'm not sure I'd consider them to be "keys heavy". Like you said, it could be a large number of artists.

If it is Elton John, the pack better include "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding".

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

It should be Ben Folds, but they fucked up the disc.

I was wondering how HMX missed the Incubus tie in with their latest album coming out last week - glad to see they are remedying that situation - in for the pack.

I imagine nobody else is looking for this by now, but Best Buy has Green Day: Rock Band for $12. I'm not much of a fan, so I'd been waiting for it to drop this low.
