This is what I'm disappointed in as well. This will make 27 DLC songs now(I believe, could be wrong) since RB3 was released, and only 10 have pro guitar? That's not exactly making the price of the Mustang/Squier look tempting.

Honestly, I think it would be fair if they would clarify now when every DLC track is released whether or not they've cleared future rights for that song. I'm not interested in paying money for songs I won't be able to play in RB4. If I wanted to keep a stack of discs around for a few songs I'd be playing Guitar Hero and Lips. I only have a few hundred DLC tracks so every time songs "disappear" it annoys me.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I created a global 360 guitar battle while I'm sitting here bored at work. It's called "Television Tunes". See if you can find it and play it? I'd love to see how this feature works. It says two people are already participating but the leaderboard doesn't show anything.
It's all DLC tracks though: 1. C'mon C'mon by Von Bondies 2. You All Everybody by Drive Shaft 3. Stand by R.E.M. |

They've said numerous times that not all DLC would have pro mode charted.
He also noted that not all songs will have a Pro Mode guitar add-on, since there are certain guitar parts that "wouldn't rise to the level that they would need to have Pro Mode authoring." |

The only DLC we've actually lost were technically disc songs (the European RB1 tracks that were later released in the US). The other missing tunes were either on the RB1 and RB2 discs or are the tracks from that single week that were glitched and will be fixed.
Did RB3 have a different tracklist anywhere else? I didn't even know RB1's was any different until the Oasis song and Die Toten Hosen were missing. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
dumb question, but which Oasis song is missing now?

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
The best one. :(
It's too bad that these "upgrades" aren't just additions to existing tracks like pro guitar/bass. I hate to lose the great sing-alongs on the past Bon Jovi tracks. And for two of them, you have to have two versions in the library. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
What was the reason the sing-alongs were lost? I hate that those are gone.

Guitar + Bass + Drums + Keys + Vocals + Everything Else means sing-alongs would have to ALWAYS be present and not just when you're kicking ass, as I believe was the case before. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Why not just sing along yourself?

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Is the linking working right? I linked my account last night and even after playing for a few hours just now, online it still says I have linked but haven't played rb3...

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
It's not 100%, no. Did you get your trophy?

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Canadian + PS3 = probably won't work

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Hamronix's clarification:
Also, some clarification on the back catalog releases and Pro upgrades! If you want Livin' On a Prayer with Pro charting, you'll have to download this new version next week. Your legacy version of Livin' On a Prayer won't magically update. These will show up in your library as two different versions of Livin' On a Prayer, with the Pro enabled one listed as (RB3 Version). This is similar to how the As Made Famous By / original recordings display in your library. Once you buy the RB3 Version of Livin' On a Prayer, you'll have the option to purchase the Pro Guitar / Bass upgrades. The Pro Guitar / Bass upgrade shouldn't even appear until you purchase the RB3 version. You won't be able to download just the Pro Guitar / Bass upgrade for your legacy version of Livin' On a Prayer, only the RB3 Version. Hopefully that clears up some of the questions about back catalog updates and Pro upgrades. If there are other songs you want to see rereleased with Pro, head on over to Ultimate Set List and let us know! |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Can a Legacy version play with a RB3 version?
Is there a Key/Harmony benefit to upgrading to RB3? Will that be true for EVERY RB3 upgrade? |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Supposed first week sales figures:
Worldwide: 360 - 117,888 PS3 - 74,875 Wii - N/A |

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Eh, look at it this way... if you're good at the song then you'll get a double entry for it on the leaderboards.
|
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
This is a point where I really wish they would let us hide songs from the track selection menu.
I will probably never play the old versions of the Bon Jovi songs again after I buy the new ones, but I can't delete them since they're part of exports from other games. So they'll just be there cluttering up the menu. |

I think if a song has keys or harmonies in it then they will chart it as such. I have no problem upgrading for $2 for keys and harmonies. I wouldn't want to be in a position to just want the pro guitar/bass parts and be forced to spend $3 instead of $1 for that. No biggie, but still. And, in theory, there's no reason why the game couldn't allow the different entries to play together unless they change the existing charts. If the only problem is the Legacy player won't hear the keyboard misses by the RB3 player, no big deal! Sending chart data to be displayed on the Legacy player's screen shouldn't require very much either. Again, just pipe dreams for a very, very minor nitpick. But it's technically possible. |
