As of now (11:19 PM EDT), the countdown clock is at 1 hour and 20 minutes, but another game is close to "finishing". It looks like Portal 2 will unlock sometime after midnight EDT.

Timer at zero, it's up for everyone.

Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
My copy of Portal 2 is decrypting on Steam right now.
...and it's done. I may regret this in the morning, but I have to try it now. :) |

Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
What the hell, I got a corrupt download
|
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
Oh goodie, I spent half the day downloading this on my Mac only to find out my OS is too old. Lion needs to come out already.
|
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
So far, this game is awesome  Love the Stephen Merchant voiced robot at the very beginning.
|
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
So who's going to report back about game length first?
|
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
I'm sure people have already finished it, but I'm avoiding spoilers. I only got up an hour early to play, so I have no idea how far I am yet, other than "Chapter 2".
|
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
According to PSLS it is about 10 to 11 hours which is pretty damn good, and that's just for single player, even more if you do co-op.
Ok, forget that site. I can't take the word of a site that has an article that likens buying a used game as piracy. |
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
Yeah, IGN's review mentioned 10 - 12 hours, but I thought that was including the co-op mode. I'm on Chapter 2 as well.
|
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
I love it so far. I'm just a little into chapter 3. The levels have been fun, and the dialogue is hilarious.
|
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
I was having great fun with this game until I reached chapter 6. Now it's starting to drag unfortunately. I just had to turn it off for a bit because it was making me a little dizzy after playing straight for about 5 hours. Seems like a 8ish hour campaign based on how many chapters there are.

"It's recommended we wake up dormant test subjects every three months or so. You've been under...a lot longer. You might have a slight case of serious brain damage. If this alarms you, just try to calm down, or, better yet, hold on to that feeling, as it is the proper response to being told you have brain damage."

Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
I bought a PS3 copy this morning. I tried to redeem the Steam code while at work, but it gave me an error, as I kind of expected. You definitely need to link your PSN account to your Steam account before you can redeem the code. The instructions pretty much say that, but it was worth a shot. :) Guess I have to wait until 6pm tonight.

Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
Weird. That's not the error I got (it wasn't nearly as detailed)... I'll try again when I get home though, after running the PS3 copy, of course.

Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
A lot of people on NeoGAF have beaten the game and most are reporting in the 6-8 hour range.
|
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
Got my Amazon promo email today. Actually, I got two. The $20 one I expected and a second $5 one I was not expecting. Anyone else get this happy bonus? $30 net
|
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
Did you get PS3 or 360 pinata?
|
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
360 because Steam doesn't interest me as much as the controller and friends to play with.
They have different expiration dates too, by 10 days, so that's weird. |
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
dammit, i'm stuck already

Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
And so we begin, there are a shit ton of portal 2's without the pc code for 40 and a bunch of people selling the code and telling people they just need to rent it to use it.
|
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
I put my PS3 copy up for sale for $40. If someone wants it bad enough and doesn't care about the Steam code, then it's a decent enough discount. Hell, I'd probably let it go for $30.
I know you can change the controls, but the default triggers are R1 and L1 on the dual-shock. It's like they're trying to make it worse. ;) |

I love Stephen Merchant.
|
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
I put in about 3 hours tonight and I'd guess I'm a third to half-way through. 6-8 hours sounds about right. Gonna finish this up before I even attempt co-op and maybe even do a second run to clean up achievements. This is the first game in a long time (only?) that I'm playing without having looked at the achievement list. It's so much more fun.
|
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
Fantastic so far....though the puzzles have been on the easy side...not sure how much I got left, but I am about 2-3 hours in and I am on chapter 7...
If the coop can deliver, Dead Space 2 finally has competition for game of the year... |

If anyone got the PS3 version but has no use for the Steam code, I'm listening.

Love all the dialogue so far - definitely on par with the first game. I'm going to need another playthrough just to listen to everything I missed the first time. I was happy when I got to the Spoiler:
|
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
Sometimes it takes longer to get back into thinking with portals than I'd like to admit. There was one part right after the "surprise" where I was stuck for about 10 minutes trying to figure it out. Because I was just stupid
Spoiler:
I really felt dumb after that. |
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
Ha! I did the exact same thing with that level. I think all the other spots where I was temporarily stuck I thought the puzzle was really clever or difficult, but that was a definite "duh" moment.
|
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
I think I tend to think "one way" with portals ... Having a blast though.
|
Re: Portal 2 PS3/PC/360
Just finished up. I had a blast going through it. It took me 8-9 hours total. Got stuck about 3 times where I really was having trouble figuring out what to do next.
