Mortal Kombat - 2011

Re: Mortal Kombat - 2011
I really like the videos. I will have to wait and see more about it. However, it does appear that Kratos will be the only exclusive character. I would've liked Master Chief.

After seeing this, I'm now debating if I should pick this up on release day.

Yeah, I think I'll be buying this. At first, the Challenge Tower sounded a little hokey, but by the end, I was sold on it.
I'm really hoping the single-player story and local multiplayer are good. Online multiplayer for this type of game doesn't do anything for me.

I haven't played a MK game since the SNES days... this might all change after seeing how cool that video was!

But that challenge mode looks pretty fun even from a solo perspective. Might have to pick this up after all.

I'm really excited about this game. Haven't been this excited about a MK game since UMK3.
Still wondering if I should drop the $17.99 for PSN Plus just to get the demo early this week

Might be an Exclusive deal. Makes sense with the PS3 MK9 getting Kratos as an extra character and no word on any Console Characters for Xbox 360.
Digging the first one, since it's completely new.
Don't know about Uncle Fester

I think boone already said 360 wont be getting an exclusive character from the start. DLC later? who knows?
Actually played the demo again today. Thats how good it was

I didn't realize this was in 3D. The depth of the stages works well. I'll definitely be buying this one on release. Classic MK fun.

Haha that's true. Hopefully they'll change/tweak his design slightly, since I never liked the character design.
Played the demo yesterday. The art direction is great and the game feels like old-school Mortal Kombat. Scorpion's win pose was too awesome.
Also when playing the Pit stage, it was cool seeing some of the newer MK characters fighting it out in the background (one of them being Blind Kenshi)
Also I hope this means Frost as DLC of some sort down the line:

Re: Mortal Kombat - 2011
Played the demo last night. It definitely elicited a feeling of nostalgia, but I quickly remembered why I stopped playing fighting games on consoles - special moves and fatalities are difficult to pull off with a standard controller (for me, anyway). Hell if I'm gonna buy a special joystick to get the "real" experience. Maybe I'll pick this one up when it gets cheap, though I said the same thing about SFIV and still haven't gotten around to that one.

I never had a problem pulling off the fatalities on the old sega games, but I could never figure out how to work them on MK: Deadly Alliance for the PS2. I will still pick this up day one on the PS3.

Re: Mortal Kombat - 2011
Same issue, but the fatalities on this came off just as easy as they did in 2

Re: Mortal Kombat - 2011

The newer MK games (although being crappy) had some really great new character designs. If NeatherRealm does decide to bring back any as DLC, I think they will transition well to this new art design/style.

Re: Mortal Kombat - 2011
Well, the gameplay is 2D. You don't move from side to side like in Soul Calibur. One of the big things about this MK game is that they're going back to their 2D roots (but with 3D graphics, obviously).
