Re: Dead Space 2
I did another try last night and couldn't finish.
I even didn't try with my last setup, I got the (Hacker) Force Gun at the end of chapter 14 and started from there, basically running through chapter 15.
So, I think I'll just check some Youtube videos for help. It shouldn't be that hard, right?

Turning subtitles on is always the very first thing I do when starting a new game, so I didn't really notice those issues. For that matter, I do the same for movies, even English-language ones. But that's just me. I've always had issues understanding dialogue when it's mixed in with any background sound, which is almost always the case nowadays in both movies and games.
Isn't most of what she says just a lot of "MAKE US WHOLE" and similar silliness until later in the game anyway?

But yeah, like I said before, she comes across as a crazy bitch more than an evil girlfriend.

Re: Dead Space 2
Well you're applying this to a retroactive situation. I didn't know I needed the subtitle till it already happened. Also, that "solution" doesn't really address the critique of the audio design misstep.

Even so, this is a highly atmospheric game. Reading subtitles would take me out of the moment. Now that I've experienced it, I'll probably enable them for the next run.

I could hear kids playing outside, people mowing their lawns, sirens,
Oh and I finished it a second time on Zealot. Definitely hectic, although the last boss is easy. I think I am done with it now, and will trade it in or sell it. I got 875/1000 for achievements, so I am happy.

Yeah, I sat in total darkness for this game. Close enough so the tv took up my entire field of vision. The surround system was cranked up that shit fell off one of my shelves.
Subtitles didn't belong in that mix

Spoiler:
The trophy popped for me the very first time I deployed the Explosive mine (which was during that part).

Started a NG+ on Casual to clean up achievements and stock up for a possible Zealot run. It's amazing how a fully-upgraded Plasma Cutter slices through Necros on this difficulty like butter. It's not even a game.
Oh, and I totally cheated the Rig/Stasis achievement because there's no way I'm spending 3 power nodes on air upgrades. Save, bench, achievement, load.

I'm thinking on doing the same, NG+ on casual to clean up achievements.
dsa_shea, I got that achievement in the final boss battle. That's a good place, and you have all the time to get it.

Re: Dead Space 2
I picked up the PS3 version over the weekend, mostly for the HD version of Dead Space Extraction. I played the first two levels of Extraction, and it's pretty awesome for a light-gun style of game.
I played Chapter 1 of Dead Space 2 last night, and...wow. No game does jump scares better than this one. Pretty great way to start the game, and I look forward to playing more of it.

The Escapist review of DS2. Not his best but it has a few funny points in it.

No idea why it squished the video like that. Here's the link. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/vide...7-Dead-Space-2

Re: Dead Space 2
I finally finished the game last night. I don't see how anyone just runs thru this game as I have to take a break and do something lighthearted after about 2 hours of playing it. All I have to say is
I didn't even know there was a DS game for the iTouch until I saw the review here on DvdTalk. Anyone here played it or have any extra opinions on it? I was thinking of going ahead and getting it since I am still in a DS mood but I typically hate the way games like this control on the Touch.
I'm probably not even going to bother with the MP aspect of this game. Are there many people playing it anyway?

Re: Dead Space 2
did they make this game much harder than than the first?
i find myself struggling with this game and having a difficult time on normal, but i don't member it being this hard on the first.
also, did they remove the map? the first one had a map and this one doesn't seem to have one.
