So I try this again this morning. I wax a bunch of jerks in Blackwater, cuz it's easy there, then ride on into the Presidio. I'm there no more than a minute when douchenozzle comes creeping up the hill. I snipe him a couple of times, but he keeps spawning and coming after me. I make the mistake of going up to the roof of the tower to get a better sniping angle instead of just hunkering down on the second floor... of course he snipes me before I can get one on him. He gets back to the transport a second before I can return the favor.

I spend the next twenty minutes following him around the map and sniping his horse. Occasionally him too, but mostly his horse. He runs a little further away... I follow... he calls for the horse. I snipe it. Fuck him.

I still don't have the trophy.

I'm down for this. If we get enough we can try to boost some of the other multiplayer trophies too. 10 Assists, Most Wanted, etc.

Most Wanted and Slow on the draw are 2 of the trophies that help is needed with but we can also work to complete some of the other ones if we can get coordinated. We can set this up as an extracurricular activity on an off night or make it into a Wednesday session. Flip was askin for help in the RDR thread and I figured we could all benefit from a team-up. Discuss it and we can run with it. If we could figure out who needs what we could come up with a cohesive plan.

Here's a list of the online trophies:
Most Wanted - Become a Public Enemy for 10 minutes and escape alive in a public Free Roam session.
Slow on the Draw - Get 10 assists in a single Hideout in a public Free Roam session.
Have Gun Will Travel - Complete all Hideouts in a single public Free Roam session
Hit the Trail - Get from Blackwater to Escalera before sundown in a public Free Roam session.
Posse Up! - Create a posse and get the maximum number of members
Red Dead Rockstar - Kill a Rockstar or someone with this Trophy/Achievement in a public multiplayer match
The Quick and Everyone Else... - Be the top scoring player in any three consecutive FFA games in public matches.
Go Team! - Be on the winning team for four consecutive victories in any team based game in public matches.
How the West Was Won - Reach the top rank for multiplayer experience.
If any of you PS3ers are interested in this check out the Weekly Rotating Games thread for more information

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Unfortunately my single player Missions experience is coming to an end but I'm trying to attain a 100% completion so that should keep me busy for a while yet.

I came up with one of my most difficult bounty yet. I rarely die when doing bounties and for the most part, I catch them alive but I was doing a bounty up in Blackwater where the bounty was located in a snow covered mountain section of Tall Trees. Everytime I went there, I got ambushed by his men or if I catch him alive, I get surrounded by the reinforcement and either shoot my horse and myself. I must have tried at least 10 times before I decided to just kill him and then just ride to the sheriff office to collect my pay.

For those trying to level up in MP:
In honor of this week's release of the Legends & Killers Pack, starting tomorrow, Friday, August 13th at 1PM Eastern and ending at Midnight Eastern this Sunday night August 15th, play Red Dead Redemption online and earn double the multiplayer experience points to level up your character.
Edit - So if you see me online this weekend and you want to form a posse or do some co-op, sent me an invitation.

Doesn't seem like we need to purchase the new DLC for it either.

What time will you be on Flipper?

I'll be online from 6pm EST on with other people to do some co-op and other matches but gang hideouts is in our agenda. I'm not sure if the rest of my posse will be willing to do Solomon's so many times. Do you want me to send you an invitation anyways?

Yeah, my post didn't make it clear but no, you don't need to purchase the new DLC to enjoy the Double XP weekend.

I don't know about tonight yet. Depends on the wife's agenda.

I will be on at around 2:30pm EST or so this afternoon.

When you get a group of five or more, you can knock out Solomon's Folly in less than 2 minutes and receive more than 400XP every time.

Early access to West Elizabeth?

anyone know about the Early access to West Elizabeth glitch? and yes, i tried several places now before coming here.

i know there was a time before a patch that you could go up to the waterfall (north of Thieves' Landing), stand on the cliff, have it say "Tall Trees", get arrested and be taken to West Elizabeth, but since fixed with patch. i really want to do some elk and bear hunting for hunter challenges which is why i want to go.

if i delete the "game options" files (60 KB) from hard drive and then load game and do not install patch, will this work again and still keep my original save game intact? is that the proper file to delete to make this work? and if so and i do what i want to do, save game, install patch and everything will be good to go?

But you'll get there eventually so why bother glitching just to do the challenges you shouldn't have access to yet anyway?

I was going to ask the same thing.....what the hell is the difference? Or do you have no interest in the story missions to unlock it the normal way?

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

To a degree I think I understand where Scott is coming from here. I was basically doing the hunter and sharpshooter tasks as I came across the animals in the natural progression of the story, and it kind of annoyed me that I was able to play all of them to a certain point while I was still in New Austin, and then all of a sudden I had Bear and Elk challenges that I couldn't complete until I reached West Elisabeth, so I basically had to plow through all of the mexico story before I could resume those challenges. It would've been nicer if at some point there were challenges for animals which were found only in mexico, allowing me to continue doing my challenges at a leisurely pace as I progressed thru the story.

So that did annoy me a bit, but not enough to try glitching my way into West Elisabeth.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

^ that is exactly it. just like to do as much as i can at one time rather than be hamstrung by just doing main story missions. now, that is my only choice since the others are in West Elizabeth and i believe i won't access that until after all the Mexico missions.

i had so much fun doing the ambient challenges in between doing the story missions, sometimes more fun. i play poker, dice, survival challenges, hunter challenges, treasure hunting and only now finished the New Austin missions. i would hunt just for pelts to sell for hours on end. when i tire of all that, i do a story mission or two (which are varied and i love as well).

what's so wrong with that and wanting to get there to do some more of it? if i can't do it, i can't and will move on, but why not try at least once and open up the stuff i love in this game also.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

But you stretch it out by abandoning the story missions in front of you in the places you have access to just to go out of your way to force something you can do normally later.

So, really, you're doing less than you can at one time by hamstringing the ambient challenges that are meant to coincide with the story missions. You're going to have to treasure hunt up there later and do bounties up there and do story missions up there. Do the ambient challenges then.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

i see what you're saying, the more i do now at locales not accessible, the less to do later. i didn't really think about that. more thinking about continuing the ambient stuff that i loved to do now and figured there would be more later as well. it's not a big deal really, just thought someone would know and i could see for myself and try a little before progressing into Mexico. just a big hankering to shoot a bar between the eyes with the Buffalo gun!

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I've gotten back to 100% on trophy completion yesterday . I was glad to see that the "Lengendary" trophy unlocked if you had already passed into legend (so I didn't have to do it again). I would recommend the dlc I got 7 of the trophies with no problem, but I did have to boost for the last 3.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

It was really rough on the MP during the afternoon. There must have been tons of people because it kept kicking me out and couldn't stay online for very long. It got much better at night.

I just kept spamming Tesoro Azul Gang Hideout along with some Fort Mercer and was able to go up 8 levels.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

We were doing 3 players in private free roam and doing Pike's Basin. Since there are 3 points of interest, we just split up and handled each simultaneously. Took about 5 minutes each time and we were netting 2500-3000 XP per attempt. It's still a long way to go to 50 from 31.5.

Hopefully we'll be able to knock out the remaining advance co-op missions tonight for big points

No worries. After I got bumped off PSN I only did a couple more solo runs and called it a day.

I did some more Solomon this morning. Finally earned my high-powered pistol.

According to a thread on the matter, there's a holy grail run through at Solomon's that just awards buckets of XP. In a bazillion tries I haven't done it yet. You need to chain-kill the entire lot, without dying, in under 2 minutes. I got to 27 on the chain but I just... couldn't... reach one of the straggler dudes in time. I thought the high-powered pistol would help me, but so far, no luck.

I did figure out how to get the Basement Cleaner bonus every time... and it has very little to do with actually cleaning the basement.

I'll try my luck later tonight on Private Free Roam. How do you achieve the BC bonus?
