Don't forget PS3ers we will be pushing to knock out some of those online RDR trophies tonight after 9pm EDT. If you want to join in just friend Lopo555 (Lorenzol on the forum) ask for an invite and wait forthe invite - try to have a mic (preferably wired USB mic) so you can let us know what you need to knock out.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I did Pike's Basin last night and killed everyone w/tomahawks and then got back to the sherrif and tomahawked him by mistake. I would've unlocked the next tomahawk challenge if I hadn't killed him. I also did a few mp shootouts and managed not to get any kills thanks to snipers. Even if I could get someone in my sights, they'd take me out with a headshot/red-eye thing as I'd be aiming.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Last night I thought I had finished the game.

Spoiler:

I met my wife and son.

Then I checked the wiki and there are still a few missions to complete.

I just got to that part too. Very surprised to see the game switch gears from Unforgiven to Farmville like that, but I'll keep going and see where it leads me.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

doesn't completing The Assualt on Fort Mercer mission complete it as a hideout? bc i did and thought i saw "Fort Mercer Hideout Complete", got the semi-auto pistol and am well into Mexico, but yet i don't have it completed in my stats and after i completed Nosalida hideout didn't get the INSTINTO ASESINO achievement.

do i have to complete it again for it to be achieved? thanks.

IIRC, story missions != gang hideouts.

As Piñata said, the mission is different and you need to come back to Fort Mercer to activate it as a gang hideout.

I was worried about that. So I tried the first mission and you still have to KILL people. So everything is fine for me.

Oh and last night I almost finished all my ambient missions. I just need to complete Sharpshooter #10 and I'm done. It took me almost an hour to kill the damn bear.

I had the easiest time with the bear. I rode around, found a bear, popped it in the leg a few times with the mauser, then hopped off my horse and hacked him up like Jason Vorhees. Didn't even get a scratch on me.

Now, I don't want to think about how many hours I spent riding around looking for skunks and racoons.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I was trying to do the same with the bear but they alway ran away. And then 5 bears would show up out of nowhere.

I also had a hard time trying to find skunks, I used to see a lot in Mexico, but when it was time to actually kill them for the ambient mission I couldn't find any.

go to where they're usually are and then camp and save a couple times and see if they appear. I had the same thing. Each time I'd need to go after a certain animal, I couldn't find any even though I'd seen each countless times doing other stuff.

Dude, you were going out of your way to complete challenges before you had access to the area and now you're complaining when the game does stretch things out?

If you really get hard up for finding a particular animal check the Red Dead wiki page. It will tell you spawn points and spawn times.

I had to do this for the skunk. I was just freaking done riding around trying to find it on my own. For the sake of sanity, I highly recommend looking up the spawn points.

And one other piece of advice:

Execute wild pigs on sight. They may look friendly and aloof, but they're really cold-blooded bastards.

Yeah, I ended doing that for the skunks too. I was going crazy trying to find the last two.

Boars? Yeah. They actually have never looked friendly to me. But when I was trying to kill the bear yesterday, there were a few times when I was running from a bear, and then a boar would attack me, and then the bear would complete the job.

Fucking boars.

The same tag-team scenario happened to be at least a half-dozen times. You'd think the bear would prefer pork for dinner instead of John Marsten.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

So....

OMG!!!! WTF!!!!

Spoiler:

I can't believe they had the BALLS to kill him!!!
Best Western movie ever!
I was getting really tired on all the son and wife's missions. They were so annoying, I wanted them to die, and then... WOW!!!
That was such a powerful ending. Of course as soon as I saw there was an additional stranger mission I had to do that. It felt really well doing that.

Also, I can't believe I wasn't spoilered on that ending. I don't check too many threads or forums, but I check a lot of gaming sites, and this thread, and I've checked a few youtube videos, for ambient challenges and that kind of stuff and never saw the kid there. So it was a big surprise for me that ending.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

So now that I've played through to the credits, is there an easy way to tell what I have left to do in order to achieve 100% completion on the single player game? I'm stuck at 98.5% and I'd really like to get the achievements/outfits/whatever for finishing everything.

I was wondering that, too. I read up to find I missed a few Stranger Missions (ie: California) but seem to be stuck now at 94%. Normally I don't care to get everything but I loved this game so much I want to get that 100.
