Yeah, I saved my game and then went on a murder spree just to see what it was like. And while the gunplay was awesome and all the ways that people keeled over when I shot them were very well done and rather satisfying, I definitely felt like a dick going off like that. Maybe because of the way people would die made it feel more real, or the small town aspect of it, but I don't think I'll be going on random killing sprees here like I did with GTA. But I can't wait to shoot at a bunch of dirty outlaws, because that will feel good.

Well, I could have guessed this would happen : I was missing my code insert as well (this sort of crap ALWAYS happens with Amazon preorders to me). I called them and they said they had the code for me right now. I was happy until they rattled off a 12 character code that I have no idea what to do with. Are you supposed to enter that on rockstar.com or is this just another one of their screw-ups?

Check the card that game in the case. RTFM, dumbass!

Spoiler:
You enter the code through a menu in the game

There was a mission, or random encounter really, where this guy said his wife or daughter or something was kidnapped by a group of men and asked for my help. We killed a bunch of the baddies together, made it into the building, found the room she was in, and I was a second too slow to kill the guy standing over her and he shot her dead right before I could kill him. The man who asked for my help just started bawling and I felt awful just for that.

This one has a much more intimate feeling.

I'm sure that will change, it sorta has to to do certain things in the game, but I thought that was pretty cool.

I know exactly what you mean. But when I loaded up the game and logged into Free Roam I dusted the first mother fucker I came across. Some black dude was sitting outside a building and I smoked his ass, then got my ass handed to me by the law men.

Yeah, I logged into Free Roam and killed a few random people there too. I also killed a mule and that made me laugh. I called the mule, it was running right towards me being all faithful, and as it was getting closer and closer I shot it in the head and it made an awful sound, and just fell to the ground. I felt bad after it though.

Something about the main game just feels weird to be too awful right now.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Not sure when I will see my copy arrive. I couldn't pass up the Amazon deal but for some reason things from Amazon seem to be taking forever to arrive lately. Was hoping it would be here by Sunday. I took the day off so I wouldn't miss the Lost finale and it would be nice to have this to play during the day.

I just noticed the $20 gift card said one per household. I ordered three copies (one for me, two for family) and I'll be pissed if I only get one $20 card.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Damn this game rules.

I just unlocked the 'Dastardly' achievement. It involves hog-tieing a woman and leaving her on train tracks, then witnessing her death. The effect is very 'Quake' like - gibs flew everywhere.

The victim was one of those stagecoach woman who tricks you into stopping and then the bandits try to kill you. I placed her on one of two tracks where the rails fork - I figured that gave her a 50/50 chance of survival. Seem fair, since after all, she may or may not be innocent. Unfortunately for her, the train went down her side of the fork.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Damn, this game is great - I was expecting good graphics but not this damn good - caught myself just staring multiple times.

As much as I love Rockstar...the one thing I have always wanted to see improve was the controls in their main titles and they HAVE done it here. There is no clunky slow feel and you really feel in control. I also love how just holding down the A button will match the speed of the partner you are riding with - this avoids the hassle of having to slow down and speed it up - when you hold down A as well, you also match your partners riding style so you don't have to worry about running into them - very nice touch.

It's games like this that I purposely try to hold off on because I'm still not a level 70 in COD MW2 yet.......and it looks like I won't be for a while now.

Also, just chasing down Coyotes that were after the chickens on Bonnie's ranch was shockingly well done....can't wait to get into my first gun fight.......the music in this game is very well done.

So far, I'm really impressed with the short time I've played - hope it keeps up and really loved the intro to this game.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I went to Toys R Us at around 1:15 to get this and I was the first person to buy a copy...they hadn't even bothered to put the signs up or put the games on the shelf.

Of course, I'm stuck at work until God knows when so I won't be able to play it much for the next couple days.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Finished up a few missions tonight. I felt bad about swindling the old coot out of his land to start up the wellspring. It sounds like it's going to have repercussions later as well.

I had my first loading screen lock-up, btw. It set me back about 30 minutes of progress. Save often...

I've noticed a few similar glitches, mainly the weapons disappearing. Seems to happen a lot online; I have a strong feeling the servers are being overloaded, due to more buyers than Rockstar expected.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Finally got home. Game had no golden guns code. Emailed Amazon.

I joined the Rockstar Social Club. How do I redeem the gentleman's outfit? Just go to the Avatar shop?

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I hit the motherload of coyotes tonight. I must have hit 12 of them in one area.

I was horse jacked tonight for the first time as well Some guy was asking for help and when I went near him he pulled me off, jumped on, and took off on it. I tried to shot him but hit the horse instead and he fell off a cliff after I shot him once.
