Me too. I actually bought a second copy of the game just to get the damn War Horse. Normally there is no way in hell I would do this but great games like this don't come around every day so I don't mind so much. Plus I'm sure I can get most of the cost back by selling one of my copies.

The golden guns are not a big deal IMHO. I didn't notice that much difference with the fame boost that it supposed to give you.

How's the Assassin Suit?

The golden guns were a waste, I think. I wish I would have pre-ordered at Gamestop (can't believe I said that) for the horse, and soundtrack.

Amazon needs to get on the ball with the $20 card. Still no email from them just about a week later.

Amazon.ca had already credited me with the $10 on my account so I don't know why is taking so long for Amazon.com to do this.

I also wished that I had pre-ordered the Assassin's Suit. Hopefully it will be available later on as a DLC.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I bought it at GameStop so I got the DA DLC, and then I was lucky enough to have someone just give me the Golden Guns code, and then I traded my GameStop code to someone for the War Horse code since all they wanted the code for was to download the OST.

The War Horse is Best Buy. Gamestop had the Deadly Assassin's outfit with the soundtrack.

This may be my favorite glitch so far:

Hummm, I was going to pick this up but all these glitches have me rethinking it.

Think Rockstar will fix this?

Well these glitches certainly shouldn't prevent you from buying the game. I've been playing for 22+ hours and I haven't seen anything like in the videos I've posted. Most of the bad glitches have been in MP, and they are going to be issuing updates to solve those problems, and other random things in the SP game as well. Yeah, glitches are likely to happen now and then, but it's nothing at all close to prevent you from playing the game or anything like that.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Loving the game. Got the Best Buy preorder with the War Horse. Warren (my name for him) is the best there is and we've never separated. Have only experience two minor glitches that fixed themselves.

One of them was at the end of a mission where I had to shoot a single guy and an NPC on my side shot the other guy... It was supposed to go immediately to cut scene but we all just stood there for about 2 minutes.. No button pressing worked. Eventually the cut scene started.

The second was a mission where I was riding shotgun on a carriage, and we got ambushed. I pulling the left trigger to whip out my sidearm but nothing happened. I had to exit the carriage and hop back on to aim. I died, so the next time I did the mission I rode Warren and everything was fine.

I've seen glitches that make the game unplayable -- or, more accurately, require me to reboot 3-5 times before I actually get to play. Most of the time, I find that if I get past the loading screen and play for 5 minutes or so without problem, I'm not going to have problems down the line.

It seems that some people have a very glitchy experience and some don't, so I guess it's just a question of how much your particular console decides it doesn't want to play nicely. It's a very good game, but if it glitches up on your system, it becoems a question of how much pateince you have to keep trying to get the game to play properly.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Well that certainly isn't the majority and sure shouldn't keep someone from buying the game since most people are playing with either very minor glitches that don't affect anything, or no glitches at all. I'm sure they'll fix most of the major issues.

Anyway, I just got the More Than a Fistful trophy.

Also, I just found out that if you don't kill the guy you're after in that first mission for the sheriff that Mo van Barr will never show up on a wanted poster, making it technically impossible to totally unlock the Deadly Assassin outfit. And yes, I didn't kill the guy in that mission. The sheriff flat out says to take him alive so I did just what he said. The folks at Rockstar have said they are going to fix that little problem though soon. Out of all the glitches that one pissed me off the most.

Also seems like glitches are more prone to the PS3 and online play.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

All my glitches have been single player, XBox 360. Off the top of my head, here are some glitches I've experienced:
  • Start screen won't show up after Rockstar ttitle card.
  • Game won't load from start screen
  • In-game menu doesn't appear when I push the start or back buttons.
  • Camera remains fixed in place as John rides off into the sunset ... only for the camera to suddenly jump to John, who is now burried up to his chest in the scenery.
  • Voice track cuts out, leaving only ambient sound.
  • In one pacifist fist-fight I had, John Marston refused to throw a punch, as did his opponent!

Maybe it's my system and not the game -- my system was giving me some trouble about a week before release, but then spontaneously started working again. However, I haven't had any problems with any other games (to be fair, though, RDR has been taking up the majority of my playing time on the 360).

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I have only had two glitches so far:

-While riding around on top of the train, for a good long while to look at the world, I saw some people riding invisible horses.

-Twice in Thieves' Landing, when the random event of a guy carrying off a lady happens, when I approached them the game slowed way down. Once I shot the guy it went back to normal speed. It did this the first two times I saw that event, but not ever since.

Well, three counting that Mo van Barr crap.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I went out today to try athe game at a nearby game store and hit a glitch five minutes in, though a funny one. I shot a cow and it started to float.

Yeah, beta testers were needed for this baby.

But good lord, you must be absolutely flying through this game. I am only 32.7% done at 21hr 41min. Are you just sticking to the main story and not doing any of the games and challenges and that sort of thing?

Heck, I spent at least an hour or two this afternoon doing nothing but hunting.
Not really. As with GTA, I always do the main story first and get that out of the way, and once I finish I focus on the games/challenges and what not. This way by the time the story is finished I'd have a good idea of what the map layout is like. I did some hunting here or there, but only when I was getting from Point A to Point B.

Get the game.
I haven't experienced any glitches so far (PS3) version, and even if I had I can't see it being a deal breaker because this game is fantastic.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

My play so far tonight:
  • Get challenged to a duel. Accept duel and walk to yellow X to start duel. Have game not go into duel mode. Be unable to switch off my lasso. Dueling partner just stands there. Reboot.
  • Get challenged to a duel. Accept and win duel. Ride to Thieves Landing, where a shopkeeper yells for me to catch a thief. Catch thief. Ride back to town with thief. Have game freeze up when I'm ten feet away from shopkeeper. Reboot.
  • Don't get challenged to a duel. Wonder what is going on. Hit pause button to see if maybe it autosaved after the duel on the last attempt at a playthrough. No pause menu comes up. Reboot.
  • Get challenged to a duel. Accept and win duel. Ride to Thieves' Landing, where a shopkeeper yells for me to catch a thief. Catch thief. Have game freeze while hog-tying thief. Reboot.
  • Get challenged to a duel. Accept and win duel. Ride halfway to Thieves' Landing. Set up campsite and save game. Have game freeze while leaving campsite. Reboot.
  • Ride rest of way to Thieves' Landing. Successfully complete shopkeeper mission. Buy house in Thieves' Landing. Enter house and not get prompt to save or change outfits. Discover my menus have once again disappeared. Send e-mail to Rockstar. Play Alan Wake.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I forgot about another glitch I had. I equipped my rifle, and no matter what, I couldn't use it. I thought I might be out of ammo, but I had plenty. I had to switch to the revolver and then back in order for it to work.

Are these glitches on 360 or PS3? Seems to me like your system could be dying.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I've gotta say, I'm about 30-35% thru the single player story and I haven't experienced a single glitch. Now that I've said that, I'm sure I'll get a ton the next time I play.

I am wondering how the system can effect gameplay like some of the glitches mentioned (ie: bird people, talking dogs, floating cows, freezes)?

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Can someone explain to me how the saving works in this damn game? Four times now I have had to conquer the gang where the sniper rifle is and retrieve it. I go to another gang base and defeat them and the HUD says "SAVING" in the upper-left hand corner. Later I turn off the system, and when I restart it the sniper rifle is gone. I don't lose any XP, but some of my guns are gone. I don't understand what I am doing wrong here.
