OK, the bird-people video...now that is funny!
I agree. The donkey lady was lame, the bird people was great.

Were these glitches encountered in public free roam?

On a side note, what is the secret to dueling? I either win easily or get killed.

Aren't those the two possible outcomes?

Once you learn how to read the maps, they're not that hard at all. For the first one...

Spoiler:
Go to Hanging Rock, it's marked on the world map and depending on how far into the game you are you've more than likely already been there a number of times. Search around the large rock, there is a small area for you to fit into to go between the rocks, and search in there. It helps to point the camera down so you are more looking from above. When you are in the right area it'll give you an option to "inspect".

Each treasure map has something on it, at least from what I've seen so far, that you can match up to the world map, then go from there. And remember, "X marks the spot".

I couldn't figure out the map for the life of me. Soooo... I went to youtube and there is an excellent guide to finding the treasures.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I haven't done a treasure hunt yet, do I need a shovel? Maybe a dumb question, but I haven't done many story missions yet. I thought you might get a shovel later in the game, like the lasso.

I'm just having a blast doing side missions and playing poker/blackjack. I have a feeling I'll be playing this game for a long time.

This is going to be a great game when they get the glitches worked out and actually have it ready for play. Right now, though, I feel like I'm beta-testing something Rockstar plans to release for Christmas.

No, you don't need a shovel or anything. When you come up on the area where the treasure is an "inspect" option pops up.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

So I am 26% done and 6 hours in, and overall I'm loving the game, however I did have a question for those who are far in it, maybe i'm missing something.

So far the only town that I can visit a general store/gun shop is Armadillo. I've been using the same weapons for the entire game. I bought maps for the other regions but on my in-game map I still only see one town with actual shops. Do more of these unlock later in the game?

Yes, you unlock more towns and guns and all of that kind of stuff as the game continues.

But good lord, you must be absolutely flying through this game. I am only 32.7% done at 21hr 41min. Are you just sticking to the main story and not doing any of the games and challenges and that sort of thing?

Heck, I spent at least an hour or two this afternoon doing nothing but hunting.

First there was the incredible Donkey-Lady, then came the amazing Flying People. Now comes a new breed of terror - the infamous Cougar-Man:

I still haven't found any beavers to kill to finish the Daedlus and Sons stranger mission. Has anybody found them? Most places say around the rivers, but I haven't see any yet.

Also I don't know who at Rockstar has a fear of water, but it's enough with the swimming deaths already. I thought we already took care of this?

Cool, thanks Brent. I was holding off looking for treasures, because I wasn't sure I could even get them yet if I found the spot. Now I've got even more to do before getting to the actual story.

Those glitch videos are both funny and creepy. My theory is Rockstar did it on purpose to pull in the Alan Wake crowd. Donkey Lady and Cougar Man are far creepier than any videos I've seen of Alan Wake.

I've gotten better at lassoing, dragging, and hog-tying the various folks I meet. Once you have somebody hog-tied, is there anything interesting you can do, besides carry them around (on horse or on foot)? I tried taking one poor soul and dropping him off a balcony but it wouldn't let me.

Keep the paper map packaged with the game handy. It shows locations you don't see on the in-game map, even after zooming in. It's helpful when you see a place on the treasure map and you need to know where it is in the "game world."

Drop them on the train tracks and watch a train destroy them, drop them in water and watch them drown, lasso them and just drag them around, drop them in the middle of nowhere and pour bait on them and go to a nearby hill and watch from afar, etc...

Throw a hogtied woman on the railroad tracks just before a train gets there for the Dastardly achievement.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

If you haven't opened up the bottom part of the map yet, then just put that on hold for now. I haven't either, but I hear they are much easier to find down there.
