Re: The Official PS3 thread - Software bugs? We don't need no software bugs
apparently the guy responsible for Sony removing the other os option because of an exploit from the systems has gotten the feature working again on 3.21. Won't post a video or anything as I doubt that is allowed, unless the mods allow it I won't post it, but if you know his name then you can find it online easily

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Software bugs? We don't need no software bugs
Really, what is the point of him doing that? All he's accomplishing is getting people bogged down with fixes no one wanted meanwhile Sony doesn't spend any time on features upgrades for the PS3.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Software bugs? We don't need no software bugs
Sony isn't doing it though so it won't affect them. Not that it matters to me, I never used the feature myself.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Software bugs? We don't need no software bugs
I never used the other OS feature either. It didn't hurt me to see it go but the update would not have been needed at all if not for that guy.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Software bugs? We don't need no software bugs
OK, something very strange and bad has happened to my PS3. Suddenly, just today, it won't recognize any of my controllers. My DS3, My sixaxis and my Sony bluetooth remote, none of them are getting recognized by my system. The only way I could get a DS to work was to plug it in with the USB cable and press the PS button. It would identify and stop flashing while plugged in, but the moment it was unplugged, it started with four flashing lights again. I changed the batteries in the remote as well, but nothing. The PS3 still works, plays back fine, makes no funny noise and signs in with my account. What the hell is going on with it?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. -------------------------------------------------------- edit: When all else fails, check :google: It's a very strange problem with a very simple fix: You turn off the system on the back with the rocker switich. Then you connect the controller with the USB cable. You turn the system back on at the console. You then turn on the plugged in controller and assign it by pressing the PS button. Using the controller you turn the system off, then back on. Problem solved, but I'll be damned if I know why. The first controller worked instantly, as did the remote. Using the same technique I was able to reassign the sixaxis as well. Strange, but effective. I've got no clue what that malfunction was, but apparenly I'm not the only one with this problem. Some poor bastard in the help forum I found called Sony with that same problem and was told they don't know what that issue was, but instructed him to send his system in and purchase a referb as an exchange. Ouch. |

Don't know if it's related, but my 60GB did the exact same thing before YLODing a few days later... |

My only guess is that it's a strange bluetooth issue. You know "pairing" technology has never looked good to me.

I had that happen after my gf dusted the PS3 and hit the switch in the back by accident.

Don't worry Decker, I had that happen a year ago and my ps3 (and ds3) is still going strong.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Software bugs? We don't need no software bugs
Has anybody else received a lot of spam lately? It seems like every time I log in, I have a message from someone claiming to be Kevin Butler. The message says something about wanting to dismiss the rumors of PSN charging members, and offering to add $37 to my account if I forward the message to 30 people.
I've also received several invites to play Call of Duty Classic, despite the fact that I don't own any of the CoD games or have even played any of them online. |
Re: The Official PS3 thread - Software bugs? We don't need no software bugs
Did you forward the message? I did and I received the $37 the next day. Kevin Butler is the man!

I haven't trusted the number 37 ever since Clerks.

Yeah, I just delete the messages too.
None of my friends have forwarded me the message. It's always someone who I don't know or don't remember playing against. Is there a way to just randomly find PSN IDs without playing a game? If not, how are all these people finding me? |

Most probably just get psn id's from forums like this with people who have them in their signature, or have one of those trophy pictures with their username on it.

Last night, I received one while I was in the middle of a game. I don't remember teaming with or playing against the person who sent it to me that day. |
Re: The Official PS3 thread - Software bugs? We don't need no software bugs
Hey, did anyone pick up that Rocketfish Bluetooth controller (the 360 clone) that they're clearancing out at Best Buy for $14.99? I ended up picking one up today. Not sure if I really want it, but a rapid fire button could come in very handy for my God Of War games as I truly hate rapidly tapping X over and over. Any thoughts from an owner about this controller?
