That's game sharing, and you can do it, but only for a total of five consoles for life. There are a few games that use DRM to limit game sharing, but otherwise it can be quite useful between two friends.

I'm trying to get my free stuff from Home, but keep getting error messages. There's no place like Home.

And I discovered that I had made a German PSN account for some strange reason, so I grabbed a copy of LBP while I could. They also have a sweet dynamic Dragon theme for grabs in the Playstion Plus section so I got that along with Streets of Rage. I have no idea where this account came from, but at least I used my real other email address, so I could reset my password (with an assist from Google Translate).

Five consoles for life? I thought you could deactivate a console to open its slot.

Yeah, you can. But if your console dies before deactivation and you've already shared with four others, it's still possible to deactivate that first account but it becomes pretty difficult.

Crap.

So here's a suggestion for everyone... don't ever try one of those fill-in-the-blank code games found on twitter (or elsewhere) unless you're damn sure you know what the missing letters are. Apparently, if you try to redeem too many incorrect codes, PSN suspends you and you can't redeem codes for at least 24 hours.

There goes redeeming my inFamous 2 DLC when it shows up tomorrow.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!

Also, from what I can tell, the PSN Plus 30 day offer expires July 4. So if you redeem on July 4th that should put you expiring right after the first August update, effectively giving you access to the end of June's offers, July's offers, and the start of August's offers. I'll probably do it like this on my UK account to hopefully get as many free themes as possible.

PS+ Cloud Saving question for anyone who might be able to help.

Can I upload a locked save (Rock Band 2) from one PS3, then download it on another and leave it there permanently (original PS3 YLOD'd, want to get it fixed then transfer everything)? And is the 24 hour wait period on locked saves inclusive on both an up and a download (ie; can I upload then immediately download it to the new slim)?

From the snippets I've read this seems doable, but I just wanted to make sure before wasting the $$$ on the repair if the locked saves only worked on the same PS3 they were created on.

Thanks for any answers.

Not sure on the PSN+ answers, but if you repair your original PS3, you can network them together and use the system transfer utility to move over everything, including locked saves, without using the PSN at all.

That I knew about, but unfortunately I've been using the new slim for a few months so a complete transfer would open up its own can of worms. You can't cherry pick that way can you? Thanks :)

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!

holy sheet, Assassins creed and Assassins Creed 2 Deluxe edition are 10 bucks each this week. Both are awesome and well worth it, buying both. I went to get a 20 dollar psn card from amazon since they have instant ones now, and they are out of them. Guess I wasn't the only one with the idea :(

And brooklyn I see no reason why they would allow you to upload locked saves if you can't use them on another system. The whole point is to have a backup in case your system breaks. I think the only reason they lock them is so people don't cheat.

The problem is, even if you can transfer it, there's no guarantee it will work on the other system. I'm pretty sure that a Ninja Gaiden Sigma file will only work on the system on which it was created, even though it can be freely copied. I wish there was some database outlining how every game's work are protected or not, but I don't know of any.

But, I would guess that in most cases you can transfer the save and make it work on a different system. Hopefully the developer would consider copy protecting it to be enough and wouldn't bother to make it only work with the same PS3.

Thanks for the input, I guess I'll have to just hope for the best. Worst case scenario, even though it wouldn't be overly convenient, the old PS3 can still be used for those that don't transfer properly.

I forgot to mention something. The transfer overwrites everything on the other system. So if you've been using the new system for a few months, definitely try the online backup first.

I'm pretty happy now that Sony offered Infamous for Digital Download in the Welcome Back Program.

I paid $10 for it a couple weeks ago, didn't get a chance to play it. Sold it to Gamestop for $15 and put that towards the SSFIV: AE DLC today :)

Sorry for the late response as I've hardly been online lately.

I found out that DLC is only region-locked to your particular game disc (US DLC for US disc etc), but not locked to just one PSN Account on your console and can unlock on any foreign account. So all I needed to do was create a US PSN Account, buy US DLC, download/install it on my US PSN Account, switch over to my main Australian account and play the DLC with my US disc on my main account.

I had no clue about any of that until now, and thought I was limited in that if I bought an American disc I couldn't play the DLC on my main account. So happy about that.

Just queued up inFamous for download, and I'm now counting down the estimated 720 minutes until I can play it!

PSN has always been a wonderful dial-up simulator. At times, a 2400 baud modem simulator.

Dude, you waited several days to download the game after it was available, what's seven more hours?

BTW : I had to laugh at Kmart offering 50% off inFamous with purchase of inFamous 2. Thanks, but no thanks. Great timing there.

Me either! I downloaded a nearly 2GB trial version of Ms. Splosion Man via XBL yesterday and it took around an hour, though I wasn't really counting the minutes because I knew I didn't need to.

I'm in no rush at all. I've owned Infamous on disc for over a year and have yet to play it (shipping the disc version off to Amazon for credit because of this deal). I'm just...amused? Astounded?

I've never really downloaded games before so I have a question. I downloaded InFamous and it automatically installed. On the xmb, there's 2 InFamous logos though. One is the downloaded file with the option to install and the other is the game. Can I delete the downloaded file or will that screw up the game?

I think one is the install key, right? I wouldn't recommend deleting either.

There's no unlock key for infamous, and I've never heard of anything aside from themes and other small stuff that downloads almost instantly installing automatically. Did you get the 60 minute demo at one time and never uninstall it? If that is the old demo then it will be unlocked automatically now, and yes, if the game works you can get rid of the 7 gig downloaded file.

No I've never had the demo. When I select delete, it said something to the affect of 'the game won't work if this is deleted' so I'm just going to play it safe and leave it. Thanks guys for the help.

Not sure what that is as I downloaded it too because of the welcome back and mine doesn't have a file like that, just the one file for the game.
