Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
What a clusterfuck.
And this is why videogames and the internet should not be dependant on one another for anything aside from online play. If some guy on his lonesome is just wanting to play a single player game, he's screwed, because everything is connected to servers; the trophies, DRM and all this other bullshit. |
Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
On this we most certainly agree, slop101.

L&O please change thread title to 'Phats are meant to be broken' -wink-

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
I'll probably cancel my FFXIII pre-order and switch it to the 360. Disc-swapping may be inconvenient, but it's better than not being allowed to play the game at all.

Sony says, "if you phat-PS3 owners like your backwards compatibility so much, you can go back to the year 1999 and play PS1 games."

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
Played R&C: Crack in time and experianced no problems. 80 gig fat. If there's a problem with some games, can you just disconnect from the internet? What if someone doesnt have an internet connection? Are they completely SOL?

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
I haven't had any issues, but I also haven't turned on my PS3 in a month. Guess I will keep it that way.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
The weird thing is the date being re-set. It's not like the PS3 reverted to 1999 every time it couldn't connect to PSN in the past. Is PSN somehow telling the PS3 that it's 1999/2000 when it first tries to connect?

If they have it fixed before God of War 3 is out, I'm ok. |
Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
So, it's the issue with the PSN or the PS3 OS? That's why I was wondering. I remember reading that they reduced the profile/size of the OS and now programmers have more memory available for games. Maybe they they removed something when they did that.
I mean, does anyone has their PS3 offline all the time (or most of the time) and still have issues? Something like, you just connect it to the internet to get firmware updates or game patches. I'm sure there are a lot of people like that that didn't have issues before. |

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
This is so damned retarded.
Some people claim it's the internal clock battery. Others say you have to create a new online ID. And others are reformating their HDD. :whofart: |

Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
Kotaku has a few updates from Sony and suggestions:
UPDATE 2 - A mass story-telling session on internet gaming forum NeoGAF points towards the issue potentially being related to a calendar bug in older PlayStation 3 consoles, not the PlayStation Network as was first suspected. Bear in mind this is mob science, however, and is by no means official confirmation on the cause of the problem. UPDATE 3 - Citing unnamed "developers and studios", British site Develop say that the issue is affecting titles currently in production for the PlayStation 3, with debug consoles - used by developers to actually make games - thrown "into a rebooting cycle, due to an endlessly-looping error message". UPDATE 4 - PS3's still aren't working, and there has been no official update from Sony in over 9 hours. Their last Twitter update says that they believe the issue does not appear to be impacting PS3 Slim consoles. |
Re: The Official PS3 thread - resolutions are meant to be broken
Maybe the PS3 thought this year was a leap year.

I think this should be fixed today. Before 12 pm PST. And not before 8 am PST. ;)
