The Nyko thing works, but bear in mind it just functions as a controller. That gives you the commonly used inputs, but some special things like the colored buttons (used for bookmarking), dedicated audio and subtitle buttons, etc. aren't there and you'll have to use the onscreen menu for those functions.

Thanks, guess i'll have to spend the $45 for it.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
The crappy thing about getting the $199 PS3 bundle is the games coming in paper sleeves opposed to real cases

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
That must be new. The last PS3 I bought before the new slimmer slim model had Madden 12 bundled with it in a normal Blu-ray keepcase.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
Lame, Sony must have been cheaping out for that Black Friday bundle.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
I have a PS3 (fat, but the later one with only 2 USB ports) and its very loud. The fan kicks on pretty quickly and sounds like a jet whenever i play for more than 2 minutes. Also, the harddrive is a little small and I'm always having to delete stuff to make room for a new game. Is there any way, short of saying its broken and paying the 99 bucks to sony, to trade it for a slim, quieter model? does anyone have an idea of trade in value vs buying a used slim model?

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
I think Gamestop is having a special trade in offer going on right now where you get an extra $75 towards a new PS3 bundle.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
Be careful if you have any game saves you want transfered though. Many PS3 saves are Locked, which means there are only 2 ways you can transfer them to a new console.
1. If you are a PS+ member, you can transfer your game saves to the cloud and redownload them onto your new console 2. You need to have both systems active and networked together and use the System Transfer feature. |
Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
So I finally broke down and got my son a PS3. Is there a way to transfer his account to the new PS3. Right now, we have two accounts on one system and I want to keep my stuff but just transfer his stuff to the new unit.

The new version of the Playstation store sucks!

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
Yeah, it's awful. Can't really see anything that's better about it except the "dynamic" appearance. Functionally it's terrible and searching for anything so much longer than before.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
I think it's okay. What I don't like though is that when I went to search for some LBP add-ons, I had to filter by alphabetical order and then scroll through every single game to get there. I miss when they had it broken down into different letters.

Also, I could have sworn that when you go the the individual categories, the games are sorted by letter (A-C, D-F, etc.) |

Plus plus it takes twice as long to buy something, with about 3-4 extra clicks I didn't need to do before.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
i am still trying to decide what console to go with next gen. i am only going to get one. I only have a 360 this time around and I have been pleased with it for the most part. However I am thinking of giving the sony console a shot next gen unless they decide to price it at $600 like they did with the PS3. I still chuckle about that ridiculousness. As far as exclusives go, Microsoft doesn't really have any exclusives that i am just dying to have. I have never been a big Halo fan and I got bored with the Gears of War franchise. The biggest thing I am afraid of is if the next "Souls" game will be exclusive to one console. That is doubtful, I am sure it will be on both consoles. However, I am a worrier and afraid I will pick the console that it won't be on .
Hopefully the PS4 will be backwards compatible with the PS3 and I can finally get my hands on Demon Souls. That is a big plus for me in Sony's favor if that comes to pass I hear for the most part that Xbox Live is much better than PSN -- is it a great deal better? My family uses the xbox alot for netflix, hulu plus etc... Are they as good on the PS3? I have really gotten into PC gaming this year. Diablo 3 was the first PC game I have purchased since probably 1999  I have a laptop that I didn't buy for gaming, but it turned out to be a pretty good gaming machine that has served me well this year. I have gotten a bunch of games since May and my laptop runs them all at medium at least. By the time the console next gen rolls around my laptop will probably not be able to play alot of the newer games. It will suck not being able to do any upgrades other than RAM, but the wife won't even think about getting a new laptop until this one bites the dust. |
Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
Kind of silly to think about it now without knowing anything concrete about what Microsoft and Sony have.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
Worse part of the PS store now is that you have to have your time setting done accurately through the internet. I manually set it to the year 2040 (the dates have corresponding days of the week to this year) in order to get rid of that goddamn ticker. But in order to access the store, I need to have a real date, and therefore be subjugated to that fucking ticker. So it's no-ticker vs. PS-store. I guess no more PS-store for me.
|
Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
^ I still don't know how the ticker could possibly irk you so much. I have to actively look for it to even notice it.
|
Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
What ticker?
|
Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
|
Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
Yeah, it keeps scrolling and mocking my existence.
I mostly use my PS3 for blu-rays and streaming, so if it were enabled, I would see that fucking ticker a lot. |
Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
I just got a PS3, but other then noticing that ticker going through the menus I don't see how it would affect watching Blu-rays. Seems somewhat inconsequential

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
It wouldn't. Unless you can't stand the sight of it during the short time between loading up the system and starting the disc.
