Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
Neither one of those games are long or require any type of extended play to master. I enjoyed them both but if I had to pick I'd say dead space is the better game. Easily one of my favorite series from this generation. I've played both 1 and 2 from beginning to end at least 4 times each. They have a new game+ feature so when you beat it, you can start over with any upgraded weapons and armor you may have earned in the previous playthrough(s). With most games one playthrough is usually enough, but for some reason Dead Space never feels boring to me.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
For the first time, Joystiq specifically mentioned that the Cross Buy Promotion would work if you bought the Vita version, you'd get the PS3 version for free. Since the Vita versions of these games cost $20 less than the PS3 versions, that would seem the best way to go. I'd bet you have to use your Vita to tie the PSN copy to your account (otherwise, nobody would buy the PS3 version at all). I guess we'll see soon enough...

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
I highly doubt that they'd let both games go for the lower price point. But if they do, sign me up! (And if they don't, sign me up all the same!)

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
Yeah, I'm going to guess that to get the cross buy you need to buy the ps3 version, not the vita. One reason is because vita games are smaller and can be easily downloaded. A few of the ps3 games with cross play may be as big as 50 gigs to download. Not only that, but they would have to add all those to psn so you can download them since you won't have physical media from buying the vita version.

http://www.playstationallstarsbattle.../cross_buy.png I still have a Sly Cooper Vita $29.99 pre-order from New Egg active, but just to be safe, I just preordered a PS3 copy for $47.99 as well using the code EMCNBHJ256 . |

I went with Dead Space 2, thanks. Cool so far; even my wife thinks it's cool.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
I am sure this issue has come up here before but I did a search and could not find it. I also Googled my problem but can't seem to find the exact resolution for my issue.
I don't play my PS3 very often but last night I had an itch to play Zen Pinball on my new home theater system. Every time I went to the game under the "game" section, it only gives me an option to install the game and not actually play the game. If I choose the install option it gives me a messages stating that a later version of the game has already been installed and then won't let me do anything. I deleted it, tried to download again from the marketplace and it still does the same thing. I deleted all my old save data for the game and still the same thing. I deleted the game and then reinstalled and yet I still get the same message and I have no option to actually play the game. The only difference that might be have started the issue is that I upgraded my PS3 back in December but this is the first time I have tried to play a game on it (downloaded or disc) since I did the data transfer. I sold the old PS3 way back when so I don't have the option of checking it. So, has anyone here had this problem. I saw some people thru google who had the issue with Netflix or something else but couldn't really find a good answer for downloadable games. But I am probably just overlooking a simple step. Anyone? |
Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
Not the answer you're looking for, but it's immaterial anyway since Zen Pinball 2 comes out tomorrow. Just wait until then and you'll have upgraded versions of all your old Zen and Marvel tables in a new shell with new Trophies.
If you really want to play now, check to see if there's a demo. Sometimes you have to download the demo, then unlock the full game from the demo. |

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
Is there any way to remove a user from the PS3, without logging into their account? I had a roommate for a few months, and we set him up with an account. He moved out, disappeared, and I still have his account on the PS3. From searching the almighty google, it doesn't look like I can.

Backup, format, restore. Maybe.

Looks like Double Dragon Neon and Scott Pilgrim are the freebies for PS Plus this week.

Just saw that, which is great news because depending on the demo there had been a really strong chance of me paying for DD Neon! Thanks PS+!
All 4 lights on the controller are flashing. After I initially sync the controller and turn the PS3 off, if I use the controller to turn on the PS3 all 4 lights flash and controller doesn't sync. If I turn on the PS3 manually and then hit the PS button to turn on the controller, all 4 lights flash and controller doesn't sync. I can plug the controller in via USB to the PS3 unit and controller will sync. Unplug from PS3 and it stays synced. But once PS3 is turned off process repeats and I have to plug controller back in to re-sync. Weird thing is once PS3 is on and all 4 lights on controller are flashing, if I then turn on the second controller, it syncs up and position #1 on the LED is lit up. I can reproduce the same results every time. Any ideas? |

Probably a long shot but here goes. I am having a problem syncing dual shock PS3 controllers. Got 2 brand new controllers Sunday. Old units were doing the same thing.

Realized last night that if you manually turn on the PS3 and wait through the warning screen you can then turn on the dual shock and it will sync. The only time the controller won't sync is if you turn on the PS3 from the controller. Not a huge deal...just irritating. But not irritating enough to reinstall HD or reformat drive. |
Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!
The only time I've had syncing issues is when the batteries in the controller were really low. Haven't had your experience. Did you try installing the new firmware that landed last night/this morning? Or did you reinstall the previous firmware?

You don't have to be signed in to PSN to delete the account, only deactivate download game and video account permissions. If that doesn't matter select the account, log in as it, and then hit triangle to bring up delete on the menu.

I don't see the point of another new PS3 version... especially if its more expensive then the current one!

Any word on reduced heat with the new one?
