How did you pull that off?
And the Move Bundle is $369 there. So $290ish after tax. Not bad. |

I would like to get some Netflix credit back from this fiasco as I haven't been able to stream since the PSN went down. However, they will likely tell me no although I did sign up and use Netlfix with my PS3.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Encryption? We don't need no stinkin' encryption.
Are other people really having trouble using netflix or are they just giving up after the first error message? If I try to connect to Netflix, I can always get in after the second error message. It just puts me right into the main Netflix menu. I've been using it just about every day since the outage.
Enter Netflix. Error message. Try again. Error message. Netflix home. |
Re: The Official PS3 thread - Encryption? We don't need no stinkin' encryption.
Yeah, you just have to keep trying. I received the error message like 10 times before I was finally able to access the Netflix home. You can see that it's working since you can see the application in the background.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Encryption? We don't need no stinkin' encryption.
Ouch, so it appears that a member/server admin of anonymous who left screwed them and gave the ip addresses of 650 members of anon to Sony. They retaliated and posted all his info online...
SO STARTS NERDAGEDDON http://www.theepochtimes.com/n2/tech...keg-56124.html An internal battle among hackers at digital activist group Anonymous Operations may herald the organization’s early end, and possible legal action. After what the group’s former administrators called a coup d’état to steal its two main websites and internal chat, their website now states “LOL ANONOPS DEAD” and contains a list of more than 650 IP addresses of the group’s members. The IP addresses can be traced back to home addresses and the real names of users, who could have police at their doorsteps within the next few days. The anonymity that previously veiled the organization largely kept them safe from repercussions from the companies hit by their cyber-attacks, ranging from PayPal to HBGary, and more recently Sony. Sony accuses Anonymous of the cyber-attacks that exposed personal information of up to 100 million users of Sony services. The attack is one of the largest breaches of user data in history. A rogue administrator by the name of Ryan struck first in the cybercoup that is bringing Anonymous down. The organization functions without leadership or coordinated direction. It is set up so that any user can launch an operation and each user chooses which operations they support. The loose structure also reduces the impact of operations launched by Anonymous since their methods of attack often rely on the strength of numbers. According to a post from former Anonymous administrators, Ryan “decided that he didn’t like the leaderless command structure that AnonOps Network Admins use.” Colluding with “friends” at another hacker website, skidsr.us, Ryan used a bot to collect the IPs and passwords of users on the Anonymous Operations websites, then launched cyber-attacks to seize control of the group’s two main websites, AnonOps.ru and AnonOps.net as well as their internal chat networks where operations were planned. The stolen IP addresses have now been posted publicly, alongside their associated usernames. Although the information can be traced back to actual users, members of Anonymous are skeptical as to whether an IP could prove guilt. “As seen in recent copywrong cases, an IP doesn't equal a person,” states a post from the administrators-in-exile. A group of hackers have now obtained Ryan’s full name, address, e-mail, phone number, PayPal account, and other personal information and posted it publicly. “Ryan clearly had no intention to do anything for Anonymous ... EVER, he was only ever here to boost his own ego,” states an Anonymous administrator post. The group maintains control of AnonOps.in and is planning to continue its operations from the remaining website. The current hacker clash is a near mirror image of the “Great Hacker War” from 1990 to 1992 that broke out between two of the most prominent hacker groups of the time, the Legion of Doom (LOD) and the Masters of Deception (MOD). What began with name calling, known as “flame” attacks in Web jargon, later led to LOD members turning MOD members over to the authorities. Rumors began circulating over the invite-only message boards of LOD and MOD that one of the leading members of LOD, who went by the name Erik Bloodaxe, was alerting companies of the vulnerabilities that hackers were posting to the boards. An argument started and LOD declared, “That's it! It's official now. LOD declares war on MOD!" according to an internal MOD textfile. When the smoke cleared, Eric Bloodaxe moved on to found digital security company ComSec, and MOD founder “Phiber Optik” was arrested. Information on identities of Anonymous Operations members could lead to huge consequences, given the Sony security breach. In a May 3 letter sent to the U.S. House of Representatives, Sony states it found a file on its servers titled “Anonymous” that contained a slogan of the group, “We are Legion.” Related Articles PlayStation Network: Hackers May Have Stolen Users’ Data Sony states, “What is becoming more and more evident is that Sony has been the victim of a very carefully planned, very professional, highly sophisticated criminal cyber-attack designed to steal personal and credit card information for illegal purposes.” Sony adds that just prior to the breach of its networks, “several Sony companies had been the targets of a large-scale, coordinated denial of service attack by the group called Anonymous.” |

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Encryption? We don't need no stinkin' encryption.
wow that hacker stuff is pretty crazy...
if anyone got the $100 gamestop coupon for PS3 and aren't going to use it, I would like to. I am a member but didn't get the coupon, on another forum someone said they called and csr said all member will eventually get one, but i'm not sure how credible that is. so if you are willing to give me your coupon please PM me, it would be appreciated. thanks. |
Re: The Official PS3 thread - Encryption? We don't need no stinkin' encryption.
Which Gamestop customers get the coupon? Is it the one's with their reward card or whatever it's called? I have one of those and have yet to get the coupon and I might be tempted to use it on another system if I do get it.

Right that's what I have been doing and it's worked fine. However, last night I did that, got into netflix selected what I wanted to watch, got the "retrieving" progress bar and then got the error message on the actual Netflix screen not a PS screen menu error.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Encryption? We don't need no stinkin' encryption.
Glad the article pointed out that just last week a judge ruled that "an IP address does not point to a person". Whether or not that'll be overturned in the future is to be seen. What is known, is that it points to a very, very small set of people and an area. They'll get quite a few of those 650 for questioning, for sure.

It's not just you. The Panasonic blu-ray player my parents own had the same issues with Netflix Monday night. Sounds more like a Netflix issue than a PS3 one.

Is anybody doing the House Party Playstation Rewards?
I've been a member for months now, always seemed confusing, but they've relaunched it and it does seem a bit smoother and more streamlined. It's free. And if you rack up enough points for the month of May, you get a free copy of Playstation Move Heroes and some other prizes. You can earn enough points in one day to be one point shy of getting the game. You vote on some polls, make some blog posts, respond to some other people's blogs. Really easy. Here's the site: http://www.houseparty.com/events/view/psrewards2011 |

Can I replace the analog sticks? I find the PS3s are too big (compared to the PS3). I can't get used to actually using them (at least for 3D Dot Heroes).

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Encryption? We don't need no stinkin' encryption.
Probably, but you might be better off getting some of these
http://www.kontrolfreek.com/Game-Con...-FPS-Freek.asp I hear they are awesome, and while they do add some height to the analogs, they can come in styles more like the 360 sticks if that is what you are used to. |
