Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

Zen is working on a new horror themed platform called Pinball M. Not much is out there other than a couple of screenshots. Guess this is a way to create some mature tables without having to worry about affecting the rating of the FX series.

There's a Steam store page up so far, but I assume it'll be available on all the regular platforms. No release date as of yet.

I read that as Stern and got excited for a second.

I still have slight lag on the new Pinball FX and the table still seem way darker than they were on the prior version. I have just downloaded the tables and play the free challenges so far and have yet to buy even one table on the new version. The lag and darkness keeping me from pulling the trigger on any of them.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

I don't appreciate a lag after the first update. As far as darkness I hadn't noticed. Will have to check that out.
Apparently there's a sale on several table packs currently but I can't see since I own them all already. The individual tables I don't own yet are not on sale.

Compare some of the same tables. Everything is definitely darker.

It seemed to go away for me after the first update but in the last several weeks, I have noticed I still have minimal lag. I don't this on the prior iteration, the Stern Pinball games or any of the others. It isn't much but it is enough to keep me from wanting to buy any tables.

I will check on my PS5 later.

Watching this video of the side-by-side comparison, the FX version does look a little darker, but also sharper and more detailed. It certainly doesn't strike me as too dark.

Williams Pinball Star Trek : The New Generation table!!! For $9.99, coming 8/24. That is a day 1 purchase for me.
Glad they're not only buying properties previously licensed by The Pinball Arcade, they're bringing new popular, licensed tables to video games (without even starting a Kickstarter to get it made!).
I bought this and it’s brought back all sorts of happy memories. One of my favorite actual tables back in the day, it’s nicely recreated in the game. Lots of different missions and activities to do, clearly explained. I need to play a lot more and get better at it, but it’s a very nice table for them to bring back and great to have in my collection (which is just shy of 100 tables now!).

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

I missed the Pinball M trailer earlier. Here it is

I like the idea of a Dead By Daylight table. Knew about Chucky.
No idea why they would redo Wrath of the Elder Gods table from Pinball FX. I would hope you get it for free if you own it already.
Edit : Yes, it’s free for everybody. I’m a sucker for buying it already. https://zenstudios.com/news/tilt-int...ith-pinball-m/

Just in that example alone that you posted, you can see a massive difference. The upper playfield is way darker than the FX3 version. And the middle and lower playfield is quite lighter as well. Just look at Cloud City, R2D2, the upper ramps, etc. Why am I the only one complaining about this?

Maybe it is just my old eyes and slight color blindness, but I much prefer the lighting on the FX3 to the new versions. So much so that I still haven't bought any tables yet for the new release which is basically unheard of for me. That and the slight lag just keeps me from wanting any tables on this new release.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

After a long absence (they lost the license and it didn't make it over from FX2 to FX3), South Park Pinball will be returning into the new Pinball FX.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

I'm not familiar with the other titles, but my family loves Exploding Kittens. Looking forward to checking that out

And I just think it's so cool that Zen keeps creating new licensed tables. I'll keep giving them money (for tables, not for tokens) as long as they're churning out quality new content.

Lots of information on that table here from the table's lead developer.

It's temporary, they're having like a preview week, another game I'm looking forward to also released a demo.

Honor & Legacy Pack - 66%
Star Trek TNG - 66% (Highly Recommended)

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

Pinball M is up now. I downloaded and briefly checked it out before work today. Has a forced tutorial to start, which is very annoying.
Doesn't have the same sort of central hub as Pinball FX, but every table has kind of it's own customizable nook, and you can change the cabinet, which is kind of cool.
Wrath of the Elder Gods is free (it's paid on Pinball FX).
The four DLC tables are Chucky Pinball, The Thing, Duke Nukem, Dead By Daylight. They're $5.49 each or all 4 for $19.99. I bought the pack but haven't tried any of them yet.

Tables now out. I bought the Game Night 3-pack (a bargain at $9.99) and the Charlie Brown Christmas table ($5.49). I’ll probably wait for a sale for the Star Trek tables ($14.99 for 3). I could wait a long time before re-buying Excalibur and Epic Quest yet again — though it is cool the proceeds go to a pinball-for-sick-kids charity.
The Charlie Brown Christmas one is pretty simple, but cute. Most importantly it has the classic Vince Guaraldi music which is so wonderful to listen to. It makes playing the table a joy, even if it seems like a much simpler table than the Peanuts one.
I don’t know the first thing about Gloomhaven, the game, but let me tell you, that table is spectacular. Maybe the best one Zen ever created. Seriously, it’s a blast. And with tons of RPG elements, it’s super-deep, and entertaining.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

I went to a local arcade a little while ago that has hundreds of pinball machines and got sucked back in after being turned off by the lack of crossbuy. The 66% off sales were enough to get me back in even though I missed the first batch, got most of the last two batches and The Charlie Brown Christmas table. I'll get Game Night pack and the Pinball M pack during the holiday break, I don't mind paying full price for ones I haven't bought before, then I'll probably rebuy more tables next sale. By the looks of it between the 3 sales, almost all of the tables were on sale.

Chucky Pinball is a really good table, with actual movie clips playing on the LCD display and either authentic voices or really good sound-alikes.
