Re: Borderlands

Okay here is a frustration of mine. I am finding some awesome weapons in the red chests, issue is, they are sometimes 5-8 levels greater than me. I have limited backpack space, WTF can I put these weapons for storage? Argh.

Re: Borderlands

As mentioned above, by the time you reach the level required to use those guns, they aren't as impressive as they once were, and/or you've already found something better. I'd sell them for cash.

This was the answer I got to your same question a few pages back, and I got 2 guns 10 levels over my head. I decided to stick them out, one I still use now (4 levels past when they became usuable) and the other this recomendation was spot on, i found something better. So my suggestion is to keep if you can cause you never know...

So i have a question, Sledges Shotgun, its does impressive damage at 57x11 i think, but its accuracy is 0.0, does that mean that unless its point blank, the gun just doesnt hit anything?

That isn't always true. If something is Blue quality or higher, I'd hold on to it, cause chances are if it is a good one you will stick with it for a while. Only exception to that I would make is once you get level 20-30+ I'd go with only holding onto Purple or higher, since you probably already have some solid weapons at that point.

Re: Borderlands

I'm not the expert everyone else is, but it does seem that Sledge's Shotgun is useless unless you are in close quarters. I'm mid 30's on my Siren and still carry it around.

Is that what the color coding means on the weapon in your inventory? I could not figure out why the name for different weapons was in different colors. Anyone know what color means what?

That would be a nice Skag Gun, when you have multiple skags right on top of you, and you just need to blast..a riflfe/SMG just won't do.

That is my issue, the red chest weapons are the best weapons I ever find, either by random mobs/boss mobs/quest items.

The items I get in the red chest are always the best...

I'll check to see if they are blue.

There are 5 colors.

They are based on rareity/power I think.

So white is your basic gun, green is a little better, etc etc..blue..purple..orange is the best (Artifcat)

That is correct: White < Green < Blue < Purple < Light Orange < Orange < Dark Orange < Pearlescent (looks white, unconfirmed but is possibly a bug).

Oh, and you can tell if a gun is Pearlescent if it is sitting at the top of your inventory list, since they go by rarity. I believe all Pearlescent guns also have a red text gun modifier.

Re: Borderlands

I'm sure this has been covered, but I can't scan through : What does it mean when the damage value of a weapon shows with a flashing multiplier?

Re: Borderlands

That's how many projectiles it fires, each doing (potentially) the base damage.

Multiple bullets.

Shotgun will have flashing 52, then X11, etc.

I have a needler, that is 32 x2

I agree and with the weapons there's all sorts of variables from made by whom (Jacobs are powerful), fire rate, clip size, damage, accuracy. A good example are the sniper rifles. A lower "Volcanno" is better than most wirth higher damage. Also "elemental" numbers have an effect be it "X1" to "X4". And last matching the character to the weapons matter. The Siren to SMG's or the Hunter to Snipers and Pistols. Using their Skill Mods has a tremendous effect. Like using the Siren's mod that has %45 Damage using SMG's. The Hunter with a extra %85 when using Sniper Rifle.

As to keeping ones that's 4-6 levels ahead tough call. If it's "for your character" then yes. Any "Fire" weapons probably as they are the most use. Rocket Launchers are usually everywhere, especially Zombieland. Non-elemental ones I sell. One good high damage combat rifle, with scope and "Fire" is helpful. Don't rule out the non-elemental ones so fast though especially one with 180 or above damage but check the clip size.

Re: Borderlands

okay a game hint and then a frustration.

I am off in sledge's hideout (not safe house), and I am at a crossroads..is there anyway to get to sledge without going all the way through the mine? (like you go left instead of right into the mine)?

Oh and also, it really sucks when you get stuck somewhere, and you can't get out (I got stuck at large machinery near the sledge base..couldn't get out). Argh

I just did that mission, and could not find any other way but going all the way around. There maybe, but I couldn't find it.

Re: Borderlands

Have you tried a warp whistle?

Of course you have to go through the "level" to get to the "boss"!

Re: Borderlands

I'm amazed that there hasn't been a decent sale on this yet. Makes me wish I'd picked it up during the B2G1 sales last fall.

You never noticed how the differently colored weapons were all grouped together?

Re: Borderlands

inventory sucks in this game. always running out of space.
how does it work? is it based on the total number of items you can keep or is the cap based on each item?

also, what level should you be to beat the final boss?

Re: Borderlands

You have a backpack that initially holds (IIRC) 12 items. This does not include the 7 items you can equip.

You can get backpack upgrades by rescuing Claptraps in various locations. Each gives you 3 new slots. I think there are 10 of those for a grand total of 42 slots in the backpack.

My memory might be slightly off here, but that's what you do. Make sure you actually "use" the "Backpack SDU" from your inventory after you complete a Claptrap rescue.

You start off with 12 inventory slots, and you get more slots by fixing those robots.

I hate that one health packet takes the same space as a weapon.
