Re: Borderlands
You're right about having at least three or even four to play based on your experience so far. Some good pre-planning on what mods to have that will help all players (health, critical hits, damage %), transfusion grenades and stay close together.
Still want to give it go since I've paid for it and who knows they may do a fix on the bumping you back a level even if you completed it. I can see that becomming a bit of a pain in the A##.

it does stay with the level of the host, which can make it tricky.we played through one "round" (25 total waves) and it is pretty fun. since Buzzsaw didn't have any guys as high of a level as mine (a 45 and a 50 for me, 37 for him), he hosted. no real challenge for my 45, but he was having a good fight. i played a bit solo and it is definitely challenging at the right level. would be a lot more fun multiplayer, looking forward to getting a few people together of a similar level.
if anyone wants to play, look for me, vballboy51. i will be trying to get my hunter to lvl 48+ though, got some nice weapons to use there.

This is very cool to know. Fighting waves of level 50 guys wasn't much fun, but it will make playing with lower level characters an easy way to pick up the achievements though the weapon drops are much better at 50.

Re: Borderlands
I would highly suggest a shield with health regeneration.......even if it is a big weaker.

Re: Borderlands
I just wanted to say thanks to vballboy51 for helping me thru Moxi the other night. Just that one level was pertty intense especially the "Horde Wave" near the end. I don't recall that much action in such a small area. We backed ourselves in a corner on a second floor area. His Bloodwing was flying, my Siren was phasewalking and bullets and fire was all over the place.
Also thanks for loaning me a more powerful shotgun and plus gave me a smg tha has ammo regeneration. That's another plus if someone several levels up joins. They may have a more powerful weapon that will help which in my case really did. much appreciated by the way. I can see this be more fun with three or even four players though.

Re: Borderlands
Hello folks!
I could use a bit of help here. I'm curward deployed to the Gulf and do NOT have the ability to get on-line with my personal computer. My wife sent me Borderlands for Christmas, but I cannot get past the release date checker without being on-line.
I found the offline installer at 2kgames.com/borderlands/activation/ and from what I understand if my wife follows the instructions, she should be able to send me a file and I can use it to get past the release date check.
The part I'm looking for help with is there's nothing else I can find on 2K's website to explain the instructions any better. Reading, or trying to read, through the link doesn't exactly explain it very well. Can anyone take a look at it and maybe explain it Barney style for me? Or what I should expect once it's done and what she should have to send, whether it's just the .exe file, or if it's multiple things.
Thank you for the help... following this thread has made me want to play the game pretty darn bad and it stinks having it and not being able to install it.

Re: Borderlands
agreed - he (BoneHead)was definitely the only real challenge i have had thus far (i am currently a level 31 roland) for the same reason michael points out above - when you first meet up with him, there may be a significant level discrepancy. you can try some side missions to level up, or, as i pointed out earlier, there is a stack of boxes around the corner from the gun dispensing machine (as you are facing it - to the right). you can stand on the topmost box and snipe across the fence. it takes a while, but you should be able to take him and some of his henchmen down.

^ you had pretty good weapons for a level 7.
I got Borderlands for Christmas and I'm really enjoying it. I agree though, Bone Head was tough when I first came across him. Died a couple times trying to take him out as a level 5. Did some side missions and and leveled up to a 9, and got that sweet sniper rifle the blind guy gives you for completing one of the missions. That took him down pretty easily.

Wow, even using a lower tiered host to make the enemies easier the 100 wave battles are a major grind. Took about 3 1/2 hours to complete each of the 3 levels, but we finally got through them over the past few days and finished off the achievements for the new DLC. Hated it against level 50 enemies, but against lower leveled guys it wasn't too bad, but it takes way too long for an online mode.
Thankfully it looks like you only need to bother with those 100 wave modes for achievements. If you just want the skill points I think you can get both just by doing the 5 wave levels on each playthrough.
I just hope if they do another DLC add on it is more like Zombie Island.

Re: Borderlands
How does the first two hours stack up against the rest of the game?
I finished killing Nine Toes and I'm back at the town checking the job board. So far this game seems like a lot of backtracking and rat-killing. I also feel like a bum picking up every coin and ammo clip. Wish that stuff was automatic on the single player.
Usually I can tell within the first 1-2 hours if the game is worth finishing. So far, I'm underwhelmed with Borderlands. Maybe this game just isn't for me.
Anyways, does this game get better? Is there less backtracking and rat-killing? Does it get more interesting?

The rat killing doesn't last too long, but the whole game is about collecting loot. If you aren't enjoying it now, you won't 25 hours from now. And yes, there is a ton of backtracking, that doesn't go away either.

One trick if you hate backtracking, is after you finish a mission, quit. The game will save all you have done, and when you start again, you will respawn next to a travel station, thus skipping all the backtracking. Oh, and you do get fast travel eventually, I forgot you are to soon to have that yet.

Well for me I'm concentrating on wrapping up my Siren by working on all thos Trophies list like kills by certain gun, elemental kills and such. Still have to finish the last Big Boss. I'm only 55 away from the 1200 Sell items list. (20,000XP). I found of all places one that scared me at first, Old haven, as a great place to rack up selling items. Hated that place at first. I've also seen one Weapons Crate that I have no idea how to get to and one I found that was insane to get to but did. I think the town has close to 7 or 8 Weapon Crates.
Also yesterday I was playing the Boss in Salt flats and noticed a bit of slowdown in Fps and textures slow to appear. Didn't recall this with the Hunter when I went thru.
And a question about the 'Banks' at Moxxi's. Are the Banks accessible throughout the game or is it just for Moxxi's? And how does it work? Do you just highlite something in the Bank and then highlite what you have to swap or what?
